I am a longstanding Apple user, and I believe I have at least a sense of objectivity.

These Samsung ads do have a point. The reason Apple was so late to the game with large screens is because, for quite a while, Apple refused to acknowledge that users wanted big screens. There was that "Apple knows what you want even if you don't" attitude. That went on for a few years. Tim Cook and Co. actually got on stage and tried to argue that Apple's small screen was good because it enabled one-handed use. It was sheer arrogance - that Apple knew better than the customer.

I totally agree. Don't even offer live stream if you can't handle it. On the past it has been OK, few frozen moments every now and then but still watchable! This live stream however goes beyond and live stream disaster that I have seen, right from the start! Bad quality, Japanese female translating, mixed clips of the entire event all the way through to the end, absolutely unbelievable!

I've watched every stream available since they've been doing streaming and this is literally the first one I've had a problem with. I won't apologize at all for this one as it clearly was a mess, but I have never had a hint of a problem in the past streaming their events on any device. No hiccups at all.

The posts and reactions in this thread are pathetic and embarrassing, much more so than anything you are claiming these ads to be.

Advertisements, since their inception, have constantly poked fun at competing companies and products in every industry - tech, household products, cell phone carriers, airlines, etc. I can think of multiple examples of this type of advertising right off the top of my head in other industries, let alone the specific Apple and PC/Samsung ads there have been.

These ads are clearly meant to be funny and nothing else. They are internet only ads that probably a very small consumer base will see, and they took Samsung a day to make. Samsung is not making these ads because they are "scared" of the competition that Apple provides, and their products are not lacking (as you all claim) because they are wasting time making these ads. That is just stupid reasoning and I hope none of you actually believe that.

Second, these ads are not just making fun of Apple, they are advertising their products too. Did all of you not see the specific Galaxy Note features they advertised at the end of these internet ads?

I cannot believe how blindly some of you think that everything anti-Apple is "disgusting" or other ridiculous words I have seen used in this thread. It's competition! And Samsung is clearly just having fun with these ads, and it is clearly working.

I have only read these threads for months up until now, but the responses in this thread were so ludicrous I had to comment. I am not Samsung fanboy either. I have owned an iPhone for the past six years. I even got a Samsung Galaxy S3 two years ago and returned it for an iPhone 5. But that being said, I am not an Apple fanboy either. Brand loyalty is dumb in my opinion. They are only trying to make money off you, plain and simple.

The comments in this thread are a sad display of a portion of the Apple fanbase. Based on the hateful reactions here, you are the ones that seemed scared. For what, I'm not sure.

1. The iPhone 5s charges extremely fast. Fast enough I'm surprised they never called it a feature.

2. I'm not sure what they were getting with the watch bit.

3. Everyone I know who has a Note with a pen has never used the pen for anything more than that drawing game that was popular a year or two ago. Hell, anyone who ever owned a PDA is intimately familiar with the stylus, and really we don't miss it. I'm a graphics professional and I'm not using my phone for editing. I use a Wacom tablet with my laptop or desktop.

4. The iPhone is a mature product. What more can you expect with hardware updates? Whether late to the party or not, the big screen is here. Notice they didn't address the other big features like :apple:Pay.

5. Criticizing the live stream is grasping at straws, and is also playing to a VERY niche user.

6. Multi-tasking is a semi-valid point. There is very little I've ever done since iOS 7 where I've felt like I needed true multi-window multi-tasking, and the big one (email) is coming with iOS 8. Apple has made strides in this department, but I'm sure there is more room to grow.

+1, what I was thinking but too lazy to type lol

Typical Samsung clumsiness. How many people even understand these ads? Especially the first one about the live stream. 99.9% of potential buyers won't even get that, and what does that have to do with the phone anyway?

Nothing. It was just a cheap shot, for lack of a criticism with substance.
Might they be envious of all the attention and adulation Apple gets?

I don't think Samsung cares if "regular" people get this ad or not. I don't see Samsung running this during the Superbowl. This is purely meant to rile up the insiders and fanboys on the Apple side and also provide some cheer to their own camp.

Negative campaigning works - every politician in America knows that!! POTUSes haven been made and denied based on negative campaigning. Life isn't a game run on Victorian ideals of chivalry - everything is fair game.

I enjoyed the Samsung Ads, I'm happy with my Apple products, but was looking forward to my annual guilty pleasure, "Nerd Stock 2014", carved out the time to tune in, and was royally pissed as the stream ***** itself to death.

I had to give up and watch the recorded re-play later, so there was that.

I've wondered why Apple doesn't have a turbo charge mode, that is forward thinking, the UNU power bank is pretty awesome charge technology.

I wouldn't mind some side by side multi tasking. I wish I could customize my phone better, cause I honestly hate the "fresh" overly bright, flat theme forced on me.

There are many things Apple could do better, but I'm not jumping ship any time soon because of the all the great apps that work so well for me, and my Pebble, from the guys who did a darn good job for the resources they had, but Apple could do better.

i still find these funny. if you can't look past that it's samsung and just enjoy it for what it is...you seriously have emotional problems when it comes to apple

people need to lighten up and stop taking it so personally. none of you founded apple, none of you work for apple, most of you don't even have a stake (stock ownership) of apple. as i said before, lighten up

"which phone is yours? they all have nicks on the top" --> i'm an iPhone 5 owner and i found this funny b/c it's true

This might be the best post on this board of all time. I find people are WAAAAAYYYYY too brand centric and loyal. Apple could literally sell a turd and fanboys would find ways to say it great. I hate debating a few fanboys who can never see fault or admit that another platform does something better than an apple product. I'm a guy that loves tech not apple, samsung, LG, Moto, Microsoft, Google. Obviously there are Fandroids etc as well that are just as bad. Healthy debate and criticisms of all tech are what will force makers to improve. I also think people need to be more open minded.

Samsung could you please make a ad on sep 12 for amount of iPhones presold and another on sep 19 for shipped/sales and compare with your 10 different variant of S5 sucker phones. lol.

I would understand if Samsung wanted to mock a product that was already out. And to be fair the stream thing I can understand a little. But how can you mock the battery life of a product no one has yet? How can you mock a smart watch that won't be out until 2015?

I think they mocked the screen because they are afraid of losing their customers. So we didn't have huge screens at first, but we do now, so how is that bad? And I doubt the multitasking works very well. I think it would feel "clunky" to me.

And honestly the pen one is just stupid. I don't know anyone that goes "Sweet, a cool pen that I'll never use and then I'll lose it!"

But, that's just my opinion.

Tim Cook and Co. actually got on stage and tried to argue that Apple's small screen was good because it enabled one-handed use. It was sheer arrogance - that Apple knew better than the customer.

I'm still not convinced they're totally wrong. I can't tell you how many friends I have who had large Android phones who switched to iPhones and love them and have no regrets. I also have a Galaxy S5 user who texted me tonight saying literally that the 5s form factor is about perfect. He has a Galaxy S5 in spite of the screen because he's an Android nerd. He'd rather have a smaller screen because one-handed use and ease of "pocketability" are real factors for many people.

But in the end, I don't think it was as simple of a decision as Apple trying to tell the consumer they were wrong so much as moving in a direction that allowed for better handling of multiple screen sizes gradually, not just for Apple or users, but for developers. You look at how they've gradually been introducing different features to users and developers and it's clear that they have a plan. They didn't want to just jump in without one because that tends to be problematic. Now the technology is at a point where they can more seamlessly support multiple screen sizes without bowing to a compromised experience.

Ultimately, I'm all for choice. I hope in the future we continue to see a 4" screen size being offered. Small, medium and large seems perfectly reasonable to me. I think a lot of people will prefer the small and medium for reasons other than price ultimately, but I have no problem with the option of a larger screen being available for the users that want it. But again, it boils down to choice. If Apple's willing to offer a large size, I hope that moving forward as the 5s gets fazed out in a couple years that they offer some other 4" size, as I think that there are many people, if not the majority of people, who will still prefer that size when actually presented with the choice.

And they stopped when Apple products truly became mainstream. And they were never, ever remotely as overt and pointed as Samsung's tend to be, and again, they were always far more tasteful. But furthermore, Apple didn't build their brand off copying/being "inspired by" Windows like Samsung copied/was "inspired by" Apple. Apple didn't make the Galaxy S2. Apple doesn't make the Galaxy Alpha.

Did you know it was PC vs Mac ad? Since when did Mac become mainstream??? I think Apple made hell of a lot more PC vs Mac ads than Samsung did with Apple.

True... the stream was a complete failure.

I wouldn't say complete failure though, it caused me to miss some of the stuff about iphone 6, but reload usually worked quickly when it choked, and chinese lady was gone well before :apple:watch announcement, so I did get to witness the key moment live. It could have easily gone bad in a way I didn't get to see the Tim Cook introduce the :apple: watch. I'm guessing many gave up though or had it mess up at more key moments than me.

you know what? apple needs to and an:apple: key to the keyboard so :apple:watch is easier to type. using keyboard viewer, option shift k looks to do it, lets try: 

Verdict: option shift K gets you a mini apple, :apple: =apple smiley

No *****. And we are all acutely aware of it. Yet it gets mentioned as a rebuttal in these particular threads. Every. Damn. Time.

So then stop complaining about Samsung ads ignore them if they bother you that much.

Pretty easy.

Sorry I'm just playing devils advocate.

What I find amusing is Samsung seems to think they're going to continue to be the unstoppable leader in the Android market, without really having to do anything to earn it other than trying to poke fun at Apple as 100% of their marketing campaign.

I myself will be getting an iPhone 6 Plus, but if someone put a gun to my head and *forced* me to get an Android phone, I'd easily take the Xperia Z3 or LG G3 over any Samsung phone. They need to get over themselves and start maybe actually focusing on their products so they don't end up looking like Band-Aids or run something as god-awful as TouchWiz.

Irrelevant.

iPhone took off. Apple became more than a Mac company. Apple became mainstream for something else. Apple stopped worrying about Microsoft. They innovated out of a problem with great products, not with stupid advertising campaigns that are mildly amusing at best. And I'm referring to Samsung's onslaught of attack ads as well as the "I'm a Mac" campaign when I say that.
