Pending payment appeared on my Amex card Tuesday (it still there).
Moved to Preparing for Despatch on Tuesday afternoon.
No Email of Doom.

No sign of my watch delivery on my UPS account calendar, but I live in hope, my wife's watch showed up on the UPS calendar for a Friday delivery on Tuesday morning, despite only getting her "shipped" notification this morning, it seems Apple's confirmations are very slow.
 
As u can see the change in delivery clearly now

Never got the email of doom

Have another watch that had 4/24-5/8 delivery dates but is still preparing for shipment and its SA 38mm White Band Sport for my wife.

Yea, I see the email as a response to all the people that probably hopped on support chat after seeing the news that some orders would be shipping before there original date range.

Just kind of a hey you are still getting a watch and it could still come tomorrow:)

I just can't see it that way. I made as much effort as you did, except I overslept a little, so I didn't get my confirmation email until 12:20 Apple Standard Time. If you followed Apple "news" at all (and I'm betting everyone here did), we knew demand was going to outstrip supply; we knew certain models would be more difficult to get, that pre-ordering was going to be a roll of the dice.

I was surprised at the time that shipping dates had already slipped to mid to late May (not knowing it was still just the 2nd "wave"), but you honestly have to step back and see what a whiny lot we are right now. It's embarrassing.

Identical situation here in AZ. For a while, this thread was a "virtual stand-in-line on rollout day". Lots of fun and lots of enthusiasm - probably the nicest thread I've ever seen on a MacRumors forum.

However, since Apple retail couldn't keep to a First In First Out model, the "retail experience" falls way short for many of us. I know I'll get it "sometime" but am going out of town 4/25 for a week.

Very disappointed.

one thing i don't get though is that my wife's watch was the first of the two to go to preparing to ship by one day sooner too, and bot watches are charged to my card yet hers apparently hasn't shipped yet, i believe it will be shipped and i just won't get that confirmation. theres no way heres was preparing first and hasn't shipped yet

For both watches the status changed to Shipped on 4/23 at 630am
