Very Sad...

Just got off of the phone with a very nice CSR. She swore up and down that none of the 2.0's are shipping yet. She looked at the queue starting from Jan 11 and said that none in that queue have shipped (apparently a very long queue). She asked me where I had heard that the macbooks were shipping and I pointed her here to this thread. She said that she would make a note of this discussion and try to investigate if any had shipped. I'm not expecting too much. I guess I'll wait and see what develop's in this thread and call back later in the week to bug them.

I spoke to 3 CSRs yeserday and only 1 was not aware the 2.0s were in stock. I dont understand why there is no consistency across the service org. I would assume the same info would be available to the entire team, especially on an item as hot as this.

Good luck!

Sweet! Is that everyone now?

Nope. Still no change in status:

Ordered: Jan. 29th
Est. Ship Date: March 31st

Spoke to a CSR today who said they haven't gotten any in and will not get them until the 13th of April. I explained that some have already gotten them from Amazon and then she repeated that they have not been released yet and will not get them until April 13th. She then asked if I could prove it by giving her an order number of one that shipped.

:(

Amazon CSR

I just wanted to say that the Amazon CSR who took my call was very nice and did ask and try to figure out what is going on. I feel a little bad that the CSR's on the low end of the pole are getting a lot of phone calls and they just don't have enough information to give an adequate answer. I blame people higher up in the food chain for not giving info.

Anyway, just wanted to say that my CSR was very professional.

I totally agree. Everyone I spoke with was very nice. They were simply not well informed.

Hey Gang,

Just wanted to close the loop on how my transaction worked out. So I ordered on 1/22 the 2.0 with overnight shipping. It arrived yesterday at 10:30 am. I did notice the double sticker too, but didn't give it a second thought. I installed my extra 1GB stick, and powered up. The notebook is very fast, drop dead quiet, no dead pixels, and simply perfect. I went through some hassle last night reinstalling Mac OSX, thinking something was corrupted (as it turns out Kensington Mouseworks doesn't work at all on Intel Macs), but it was actually fine. Good thing is though that it made me manually move my key files, and I'm much happier wih the cleaner result.

This beast is highly satisfactory.

Congrats. I am still waiting with no clear end in site (ordered 1/29 - 2.0, ship date 3/31 next day). I am guessing that Amazon shipped whatever ones they had and now are back to waiting for Apple to release more for the rest of us. I have spoken to 3 different CSR's and all of them insist that they have not been released yet, regardless of what I tell them.

Pending Charge

I just checked my credit card online and noticed a "pending charge" of $1.00. Does this mean I am close? Amazon still shows 'not yet shipped' with a date of 3/31. How soon after the $1 verification did you get any further updates?

I asked the same question (in previous page) but no answer.

Here's a new one...

I just logged into my bank and it shows an authorization for $1994 from amazon (the cost of my 1.83 MBP).... yet when I login to my account it still says NOT YET SHIPPED. Any ideas? I would think if they charged (or authorized) it that it would be in the ITEMS ARE BEING PREPARED FOR SHIPPING AND CANNOT BE CHANGED. Has anyone had experience with this? I keep reading 2.0's are shipping, but haven't seen anything credible showing a 1.83 shipping. I ordered mine January 19 from amazon and it shows a ship date of March 21. Bizarre, ehh? I HOPE it means that it's shipping.... The hurry up and wait philosophy is becoming rather annoying.

The apple store keeps getting them in, and each day I grow more antsy trying to decide if I should just go to the store and buy one. I am annoyed because my 6 week old Powerbook 15 ("hi res") isn't working right and I'd rather not restore stuff and instead just get my MBP.....

When did you get the $1 charge? I couldn't tell from your previous message. Do you still have 'not yet shipped' and no further credit card activity?

The $1 charge simply means your account was "validated". Amazon hit your account to ensure it was a real account. In the past, I have seen this take place at the time of a transaction and not really correlate to the date the full charge hit my account. I can say that very quickly after the full charge hit, my item moved to "shipping soon" with Amazon.

I got the $1 charge since last week. Other than that no further activities from Amazon. My status is still "not yet ship". My estimated delivery date is 4/12 may be it's a good thing to ship that late so that I may receive 2nd batch of MPB and no "whining problem".

so, just to recap: did anyone recieve a shipping confirmation for 1.83 MBPs from amazon.com yet? Correct me if I am wrong, but I have only seen shipping notices for 2.00 Ghz MBPs so far...

Wow, amazon.com's customer service is TERRIBLE...

It's a sad day when the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing in the situation here with amazon.

Regardless of the evidence, I just called amazon to inquire about the $1994.00 charge\authorization on my credit card, and they INSIST that they don't and haven't had or shipped ANY Macbook Pros of ANY model. !?!?!? I spoke with a woman who went to her supervisor and her supervisor's supervisor.

As for the $1994.00... she said the only thing she can see is a $1994 authorization and a "reversal" ... which she couldn't explain why they did it today if I'd ordered it Jan 19 and it's not scheduled to ship for three weeks.

After sitting on hold for another 20 mins, she came back and said she had no explanation but since it was just an authorization that it should fall off my credit card within 7 days. Problem is it's a bank card and now I'm locked out of $2000 in my checking account for 7 days... nice huh? Their response... "we'll have billing investigate it"...

I basically had the same experience. Got the 2.0, installed the extra 1gb stick, powered up. No dead pixels, no whining, super fast. I'm happy!

Why were you charged $1994.00? That amount looks odd to me. Shouldn't it be $1999.00 or $2499.00 (minus maybe the A9 discount which is ~ $30 or $40)? Is there a $5 promo that can be applied to the MacBook Pros?

No, the amount of the unit... at least when I bought it, was $1994.99 ... no tax or shipping... I just dont know if when the lady said they did a reversal if that's the truth or if it'll ship... anyone else experience this? I'm tired of playing this game with Amazon.

Crazy ship dates

I have tried adding the MBP2.0 to my cart every so often to see if I get a different ship date and nearly pressed purchase when I saw this date pop-up until I noticed the year!!

Aw crap! I canceled my order with for a 1.83 with Apple yesterday and ordered a 2.0 from Amazon. I thought it read 2006. That's just not right. I'm going to have to call someone today.

I got mine and no problems here at all, where'd you get your 1gb stick from? I'm in the market for one.

I'm also seeing the 2007 ship date. Let us know what amazon has to say.

Ok, so the call was pretty much useless. All the CSR said was that the 2007 was a typo, but that it hasn't been release yet. She showed that the release date was March 20th. Urghh.

Looks like the problem has been fixed. Ship date on 2.0 model is now May 8, 2006.
