Intriguing. Here's the link to the ebay sales page for the iPhone: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260250283244&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_ClassIfIeDAD_Stores_IT&refitem=250253282636&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=active_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m184&_trkparms=algo%3DCRX%26its%3DS%252BI%252BSS%26itu%3DISS%252BUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D4

They've got a 100% positive feedback rating and sold 525 items. There is still the firmware update risk though isn't there? How can they be so confident about the price and that they can supply an open iPhone?

hey guys, theres a website selling preorders for the 3g iphone for £159 unlocked, i gave them a call and its is all true and official, the warrnty is intact as well and you pay via paypal, i have already preordered myself a nice white 16gb. have a look:):):) the special offer ends in 2 days.

Why does it say on their website that the iPhone3G won't work on the "3" network in the UK?

hmmm im not sure, but if o2 think they gna charge me £300+, they gota be kidin, i pre ordered anyway, but its only gna come 2 weeks after release which is fine with me, im on holiday till end of july and only get bak then, yay|!

you guys let us know how your gonna get your money back when this company dissapears!

becuase 3 use a different type of sim card to most networks

My 3 sim is no different to my vodafone sim - both work in two different phones that I own.
The issue so far with 3 and iPhones is that it's a 3G only network, meaning the previous iPhone was incapable of working on it - presumably this shouldn't be a problem if the iphone is 3G.

If the company disappears, your credit card company will give your money back. from the report from companies house the company has been up for 2 years now, I dont think they are going to just disappear.

Thats what i thought and is why i asked MojoWill the question, just that ive had some bad experiences trying to get money back off ebay & paypal that's all

Will prob leave it till he gets back from wherever & see if price is still same etc

3 are not 3G only their service uses O2 2G in areas where a 3G is un-reachable

They're not based in Nigeria are they? ;)

No, Liverpool, if that gives you any reassurance. ;)

If you check their trading address on google earth it appears to be a terraced house in a residential area, and their advertised business hours are 9.00 a.m. until 3.00 p.m. Very odd!

When I tried to call their number it went unanswered.

Apart from all that, how could they possibly do legitimate unlocked iPhones at that price?

Call me cynical but I just don't believe it.

Busy place. Nothing wrong with that, it is probably a small business that has registered a virtual office, or such like. I run a small business myself, but would I send them £159 on a promise - no, not this time. I'll wait and decide when I know what O2 want. The whole deadline and delay thing smells fishy to me, but I wish those that take the chance all the best.

The registered office of my LTD company is my accountant's office. It doesn't make them any less legit to have a separate trading address.

However, as legitimate as this company looks, I still think it's too good to be true. If the price was £299, I would be less likely to doubt them.

Very intriguing but i'm not risking it. Good luck mmoosa. If someone lives in Liverpool, or near it, why doesn't someone pay them a visit? :) 4 hours is a bit long for me, and i don't know what they would think of a 16 year old appearing at their doorstep doubting them

The English and grammar on their website is absolutely appalling - it hardly paints a good picture of them as a "proper" company.
I'm only guessing, but it's a fair bet that they aren't authorised resellers for the iPhone in the UK, so I don't see how they can set a price and know that they can deliver on their promises of an unlocked iPhone when the final firmware and hardware hasn't been delivered yet.
They may be genuine, but that doesn't preclude the chance that you'll be paying for something they can't deliver: It if was me, I'd be tempted to wait until they actually started delivering product.
Also, I wouldn't view the fact they take PayPal as necessarily a positive: PayPal's fees are very high and if they were serious about selling things online I'd expect them to have a standard merchant account.
EDIT:
Their Terms and conditions are also in breach of UK Distance Selling Regulations (http://www.ohmac.co.uk/refund_policy.php): We cannot, however, exchange or refund items that have been purchased in error - In the UK, companies selling over the internet (or by mail order) must comply with the The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 which states customers have a 7 day cooling off period for such items and can cancel the contract (i.e. return purchased goods) for any reason they want

If you preorder one from ohmac you're gambling that:

1. They're legitimate
2. They can actually get iPhones
3. An unlock is actually possible with firmware 2.0

Granted, 3 is probably possible. My biggest problem is with 2: are these going to be off the back of a lorry or something? Either way, good luck getting warranty service....
