They like to brag they are providing the 'real' internet on the iphone, but they are not. When half the sites you visit either use flash or WMV media and you can't enjoy it on the iphone...that's not the real internet. Now I don't expect them to support just any technology that comes along...but hey...flash and WMV, not to mention non-streaming quicktime movies?

I don't know which half of the internet you're browsing, but the half I frequent uses standards. Flash and WMV, no matter how widespread, are not standards.

Maybe the sites should start encoding in h.264 then! Personally, I don't give a #^$% about flash OR WMV support.

The Safari Bug - Where when you have multiple pages open, the others you're not looking at go to a white screen, seems to have been fixed.... I'm testing it a little more now, but so far so good.

Tried on mine, everything went white after loading the 6th site.

So far a quite disapointing update, but perhaps SDK is just around the corner. I really hope so! :D

Another fix

It *appears* they fixed the bug where it takes forever for the phone to recognize an email as 'read'; sometimes it would even re-mark it as unread for me.

Now, I tap the email and it instantly marks it as read. Awesome! It's been bugging me for weeks now.

162mb is pretty damn big for bug fixes. I am guessing there is something hidden within. I don't remember previous bug fixing updates being this large.

they all have been within 3-5mb of this, this writes over all of the rest of the updates so it makes sense.

1.1.4 Update Phone Signal More Accurate!!!

In the 1.1.4 Firmware update, the cell service has definitely been enhanced. Places I used to go said I had 4-5 bars of service, but I couldn't hear anyone on the other end. Now those same places say I have only 2-3 bars. I think this is one of the bug fixes..

See previous posts. This is roughly the de-facto size of updates as the replace the entire OS.

So CNN & USAToday don't count? WMV. I'm not saying I like it. I'm not saying it's better than H.264 cuz it ain't. I'm just saying, in terms of saturation out there...I would say they are standards. Not open standards...but standards nonetheless.

When opening more than one page in Safari, it actually proparly loads the other page when viewing a different page :D Finally! No having to switch between each page and loads seperatly etc.

I experienced the same problem. Good to know it's better.

Just bug fixes?!

If this update really is just for bug fixes, what a let down! I was really hoping for some new functionality to fix the few shortcomings the iPhone does have. But, then again, Apple can't release new features with every update. I mean I suppose they could, but just not practical.

You can now sync iPhoto Events to your iPhone.

Woo hoo! I have seriously been waiting for that... because it really defeated the purpose of Events since you had to create albums anyway if you wanted to split your pictures up on your iPhone...
