I am real curios to see if I get wifi access after the new update at Starbucks. I think it might be something in the background- an automatic detection of an att wifi spot, so the phone just jumps on instead of confirming.

Upgrading from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 rebreaks the jailbreak that you have. All I need to do is to use zphone again to jailbreak 1.1.4 and reinstall the applications again using installer.app, right?

Thanks

Yeh that's right. The developer of ZiPhone however, is doing some changes to the program and testing to allow for the 1.1.4 update. So expect an update of ZiPhone soon too!

My camera seems to be much better as well. Before the frame rate sucked, if you put your hand in front of the camera, the picture would shutter if you moved it....but not anymore. It acts very smooth now, prefect for recording video:cool:

Same here. Much better frame rate.

Starbucks stores will be closing between 5:30 and 9 p.m. to conduct what the company is calling "a historic in-store education and training event." Ordering a latte from my iphone is historical?? i guess so

Carrier setting

To get the carrier setting to show up. Turn your iPhone off and then back on. Tap settings ASAP, before your phone gets carrier signal automatically. Then you should see the carrier option.

This works for me with AT&T as my carrier in the US. Jailbroken 1.1.3.

As long as 1.1.4 fixes the SMS out of order issue (AT&Ts New York City towers seem to be really really off), I will update!!

Does anyone know if the work around for custom ringtones not work anymore with the new update?

Anyone else having problem actually installing the update??? I keep getting an unknown error (1602) message after it says "preparing iPhone for update" after a couple of minutes.

The lack of Flash support could be political (Apple doesn't seem to like supporting closed, proprietary standards that are controlled by other companies), but it could also be technical: a lot of other stuff couldn't get finished by the time iPhone 1.0 was released last year. Perhaps the release of the SDK will bring support for Flash, perhaps not.

Any why use MMS which costs you money per message, when you can use email which is part of your unlimited EDGE data plan? I've had MMS on my old phones for years and never once used it.

And people who don't share your line of thinking aren't "retarded". Grow up.

Because it's impossible to send an email to a phone number perhaps?

yes the camera framerate seems better now here too.

i hope safari is really a bit snappier and especially more stable. so far didn't notice big difference but maybe with more usage i will.

also hope the sdk is released tonight.

How many people here lusting after the iPhone SDK are actual developers?

I really wanna know, cause it seems kind of silly to me for lay people to want something that they can't do anything with anyway.

Well I am a software developer but I am not waiting for the SDK so I can do crazy development on my iPhone although a few apps may be neat if I have the time which I normally don't. But the real issue is the ability to have applications for the iPhone made by third parties. Crazy things like Java Support, Flash, SSH Clients would all be very handy on the iPhone. There are many jail broken apps out there that look nice but I do not want to go thew the process of possibly bricking my phone. While the Ajax apps are nice they are often lacking. And the ability to save data on the iPhone would be handy as well.
