I'm looking at the scheduled departures from Louisville on Wednesday morning and trying to determine which flight my San Francisco-bound 5s will be on. No flights scheduled for Ontario, the closest I could guess is Phoenix or Texas and then grabbing a connection to SFO. ETA is end of day Thursday.

thought about doing this the other day when apple had in store reservations and my exact model was available. But it wouldnt be as fun as tracking flights and the surprise each morning to a new status update on ups.com

The surprise? I haven't slept since 10/20:confused:

Cargo flights don't usually appear in the scheduled flights until shortly before they depart. They are treated differently than passenger flights. However you can see when past flights departed they don't usually change much from day to day. My guess is yours would be on a flight to Oakland maybe this one

The tone might be in fun, but I'm pretty sure the facts are accurate.

This is the fun part about ordering on launch day -- the MacRumors China-Anchorage-Louisville flight tracking, more detailed than Santa tracking on Christmas! :D

Well put!

I throughly enjoy this part of an Apple product launch. I've been exchanging tracking updates with another family member 550 miles away. Being a pilot myself, I love all the real time data, including the 3D views. I'll be watching the final approach to KSDF via the "cockpit view" (FlightRadar24 app or site).

"UPS 99 - runway in sight"

"Roger, UPS 99, cleared to land runway 17 left" :p

Went to my local AT&T for my iPad and found the same phone I ordered.
Got pissed off so I just purchased it but can't cancel order, so will be returning the shipped iPhone. Just couldn't take the wait any more!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

you couldnt wait one day?

That would be sweet if mine got on that flight. If it landed in Oakland by 5AM that's plenty of time for it to be trucked out for delivery tomorrow instead of Thursday. One can hope.

We need UPS to go next level and give us truck tracking devices so I can see trucks moving around town. If Uber can do it for car services, UPS needs to do it for my stuff.

Too close for comfort!

UPS has that already to monitor the drivers they just do not share it with the public.

UGH. KAL airline flight 243 (Atlanta bound) is directly ahead of UPS 99 (about 2000 feet above too) but causing UPS 99 to slow down. Doesnt look like UPS 99 will make SDF early.

Move your AS* Korean Air!!!

Stupid question but I'm guessing when you're an airplane pilot you can't just cut another plane off? Like you would think there would be enough room in the sky for the plane to just go around.

It doesn't quite work like that lol. Airplanes follow very precise routes, and will not just fly around another plane because it's slowing them down. The planes are all moving as air traffic control wants them to move, any comment suggesting otherwise is just wrongly speculating :apple:

Has to be authorized by ATC. If it were same airline corporate could pull strings. But why is KAL going to slow down and piss off its passengers? While there is obviously ample space, these vectors are pretty specific flying lanes in the flight plan with spacing closely monitored.

Will someone explain the reference? I know its from Airplane but I (somehow...) haven't seen that

That would result in the trucks being attacked while driving through town.

Uh I mean... who would do that...:D

Omg. Reading your comment just made me realize how rediculous I am. On my days off, if I know I have something coming in from USPS, I will wait by the corner where my mailman first starts his day. He doesn't mind it though. I just don't like waiting around all day waiting for a package that can be stolen easily if I don't personally get it. It's probably a good thing UPS doesn't have a truck tracker. I would have quite a few restraining orders...

Just think if you where a UPS pilot and had to pilot the aircraft that you know is carrying your iPhone but cant get it out as it is in secure bond.

Haha. My mom's stopped a few across town to ask if they had her package. Worst part is one time she got it from them lol.
