I have bad news for any one that created an "exception" such as address change or deliver to a UPS Store. Apparently it bumps your delivery date back a day. This makes no sense since my particular "exception" has been in their system since the 23rd. All I literally asked UPS to do was deliver the package to the UPS Store down the street instead of my apartment since I wasn't going to be there to accept it. Instead, the package never makes it on a truck and probably has to go back through the sorting process.

So I wasted $5 on my choice to get my package a day late. Lesson learned.

I'm in the same boat. Such BS. They should warn you about that when changing addresses or making exceptions. Ridiculous.

Mine was delivered today!!

For future reference you guys should change your address when your items are still processing (through apple). I did this and my phone came a day early. (didn't affect shipping time)

i took a gamble and went to my moms house where it's being delivered during lunch...

now i'm back at work and it's 3:39 cuppertino time.. and it finally got delivered.

it's been really fun guys.. till next time!

Yup, and the worst part is that it's a known problem. The employee at the UPS Store said it happens all the time. He said he's been working there 10 years and never understood why it delays the process or why they don't at least warn you about the extra day.

"missed connection" iPhones to Californa could be on this flight

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS2964

my departure scan was 8 minutes before the plane took off from the KY hub to Ontario, California. Maybe everyone's (to california that also got the missed connection update earlier this morning) are as well.

The Phone Got Lost

Well hubby's phone was out for delivery in Utah at 8:12 this morning with an updated delivery date of today (9/25) but now shows left Louisville, KY at 4:44 this afternoon with a new delivery date of tomorrow.

My phone to LA doesn't say anything about a missed connection. It's just still sitting in Louisville. Technically it's still on-time for delivery tomorrow. I didn't make any changes to the delivery address at any time.

Oh I pray mines on there. Then it'll totally be on time for pick up tomorrow. Yea I was one of those people who changed it to pick up :(

For those asking whether you can pick up the same day after a failed delivery, probably not. I've tried this with FedEx and they said that the drivers do not come back until the morning so it's not possible. UPS might be different, though.

Is that the answer you were given? Where do the drivers go? To their homes with all the iPhones left in the truck? That's crap, lol.

I recently picked a laptop up from UPS on the day of a failed delivery. Gave me a window of 6:30-8:00pm (giving the driver enough time to get back).

You are correct.

I, many moons ago, used to work loading the semis in the local sort facility.

They do *not* take the trucks home. Instead they come back to the facility to unload their picked up packages and for a truck wash (really fun in Minnesota when it's 30 below zero...though it is kinda inside).

Drivers were usually back in our facility by 6:30-7 unless it was the holidays.

I ordered two iPhones in the first 10 minutes they were available from Apple.

One is "out for delivery"

The other is still in Louisville, KY but is supposed to be delivered to me today also. LOL

And I've been on the phone twice now with UPS and no one can tell me where iPhone #2 is. They are telling me it was rerouted to the wrong facility, but they can't tell me where it is exactly. I'm pretty much assuming it won't arrive today at all.

Grrrrr.

it's been a few hours but I had the same situation as you have. mine's on the way now. just had to wait until they sort it out. I got one earlier before noon. hope you got yours too.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Hopefully this doesn't mess things up for tomorrow's delivery. They'll be getting into L'ville 1.5 hours later than their normal avg.

If that continues, that is definitely going to reduce the number of West Coasters who are going to get it a day early. Heck, it'll screw up some others as well.

Best laid plans....

Not exactly sure how it works. I know a lot of those vehicles are contracted out, so perhaps they sleep in different garages.

Remember, though we as consumers almost always get packages delivered, many companies almost always get packages picked up! Those can't be shipped out until the driver returns to the facility.

And these same trucks are filled by the morning crew with the inbound sort before the crack of dawn (and before the drivers are on site).

So, no, the trucks sleep at the facility and they return every evening (absent some very unusual situation).

Ours got bumped up to Early Delivery, by 3pm today, but later was changed to "end of day". At least they're "out for delivery" in town.

Guessed wrong on the SDF-ONT, it actually went SDF-BUR, in case there are others expecting flights overnight to SoCal.

My UPS driver always gets here by 10am but of course, today it's 4:30 and he still hasn't showed up... I'm sure he's parked somewhere playing with my phones

It's 6:30 here and I still haven't gotten mine so don't feel bad.

Doesn't look good for the West Coast. Those flights are the earliest to depart from Louisville due to distance and headwinds, and will likely misconnect the inbound UPS 99. If yours is on this flight, you can at least look forward to Friday.

It would be a bitch to miss the Thursday night sort and have to wait until Monday!
