Addresses an issue copying files from a Mac OS 9 AFP sharepoint
Wow, an update for Mac OS 9 support. And I thought Jobs declared OS 9 dead years ago.

I too am pleased that the Microsoft Presenter Mouse 8000 is now officially supported. I have the Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 so hopefully the same changes apply.

But Apple didn't fix that file move data loss issue? And I thought the 10.4.11 was delayed because Apple had to go back and fix it.

• Safari's about 2-3x more responsive
• Right-click bug fixed
• Pithhelmet no longer works.

Here's info on the mostly fixed Pith Helmet for Leopard:

PithHelmet 2.8 Beta (for Leopard) #9:59PM EST
This build works with Mac OS X 10.5 and Safari 3.0.4. By far, I spent more time figuring out the new installer and it's charming quirks than I did actually writing code.

Anyway, I've used it for a few days without incident, so I think it should be relatively bug free. Enjoy.

Update: There a number of reports about the plugin just not loading. It's releated to the embedded SIMBL installer.

Update 2: I think I've fixed the installer problem, reinstalling should correct everything.

Update 3: Ok, still hearing about problems.

Update 4: 3rd time's the charm? I changed the installer once again - hopefully this should fix all variants of the problem. I also just noticed that Command-Shift-K and Command-Shift-R have been hijacked by Safari, so I need to remap these in a new version.

PithHelmet-2.8.tbz D/L This and install the pkg :)

Where did the drag-tab-to-new-window feature go? Oh well, right clicking provides the same functionality, but I doubt it's as fast...

Help…

Does anyone know if this Safari 3 works with Messenger, on the beta version (safari) i cannot access messenger…

I'm pleased Apple includes Safari 3 on tiger as well as leopard unlike what they did with Safari 2 being exclusive to tiger. :D

I think it's probably strategic on their part. If they want Safari 3 to succeed on PC, they need a sufficient user base to encourage web developers not to just program for IE, so having a single large Safari 3 base is a lot more convenient than spliting Safari 2 and 3 and having to deal with any differences. Wasn't the browser on the iPhone and iPod Touch closer to Safari 3 too? In terms of Safari 2 being Tiger specific, I'm pretty sure the core of Safari 2 was backported to Panther, which is basically what happened here, since Web-Clip is still Leopard exclusive.

I don't recall 10.3.9 users getting Safari 2 back in 2005.
Reasons I think Safari 3 is available for Tiger and Windows are
  1. iPhone/iPod touch. Apple can't have people using Safari 3, with all its benefits, on their iPhone/iPod touch then get on their PC and use IE or Mac and use Safari 2.
  2. WebKit, or whatever Safari is based on, is mature enough that Safari can now be a stand-alone application.

Anyone know how to remove the pop up window that asks if i really want to close safari with multiple windows/tabs open? It doesn't have the little box to say don't bother me again like windows does. I don't want this to be windows!!!

My Safari's borked. Click, two bounces, then a "Safari quit unexpectedly" message. I don't use Safari as my main browser though (got Camino for that), but I still wanted to try Safari 3. Anyone else plagued by this/have a fix?

It seems to trigger cache corruption or something on some machines.

It results in blank DT after restart, with a QT icon sitting lonely at the upper right.

Solution: reboot Safe, then use something like Onyx.

hooray for apple continuing to support those of us who were waiting for leopard 10.5.1.... wait a minute. :) hooray for active os support for both versions of the os!!!.

Any plug-ins installed?
