Not too long I guess. They will release Macbooks with dedicated graphic card someday...or may be not

The dedicated graphics card (or lack thereof) has nothing to do with it: Blizzard has said that the OpenGL update will bring sluggish OS X Macbook frame rates up to par with the pretty decent Bootcamp Windows XP Macbook frame rates. They say they've done all the necessary work on their end and that everything will be fine the second Apple get off their butts and release the update!

No, I'm pretty sure that's a hardware problem. However, it's an officially recognized problem that Apple will fix for free. Be warned though, their repair depots are anything but snappy right now. I sent in my MBP for a logic board replacement (pretty standard repair for Apple these days) and it STILL says it's on hold awaiting parts.

Yah I was about realy to bite someone's head off when I went to pick up my crap book pro. Dropped it off on Saturday and they had the part onsite. Called me at 5PM yesterday. I've never seen such horrid turn around time. That and it didn't fix the problem where the laptop won't go to sleep. If I open and close the lid about 4-6 times in a row it will eventually do it.
*sighs*

Yes! Fixed!

This calls for a drink. This update has my camera back on speaking terms with my PowerBook. The Canon 5D (and maybe others) lost communication abilities with OS 10.4.7. This brought it back.
Cheers!

Unexpected error

I'm trying to install the Intel update through Software Update. It dls fine, but when it goes to install a red exclamation point appears next to the update and in the notes along the bottom it says "Unexpected error occurred." I've tried 3 times now. Anyone else getting this problem?

I would try installing using the direct download from the Apple site, but I'm a bit apprehensive to do so considering I've received ANY error message at all.

I'd do that if that was an option. My options are "Don't Change" or "Change All".

Oh that pain in the a**, in that case select Dont Change. See how that goes

Whats all these talk about 10.4.8 changing colour profiles, my custom profile is the best and i wouldnt want even the slightest deviation.

In reference to the color changes - I think I see a slight change too on my early-06 Intel iMac and any custom color calibrations I made earlier I can no longer delete... odd

Other than that - everything seems to be working fine.

Same here. My color calibrarion is screwed up too. Its more bluish now. I am on Macbook. Somehow blue hue is all over the place and recalibrarion my display is not working out right too..

Ugh... same problem here. I tried rebooting, resetting the PRAM, and repairing permissions, all were no help. :(

Oh, and I didn't have a custom display calibration set up. I tried making a new one to fix it, but it doesn't seem to help, there is still a slight blue tint.

Update was only 22 MB for me. It reset my keychains so I had to enter in my password, but it didn't ask for the options. This is an unusual update.

Mighty Mouse Zoom

Yay! :D

System Prefs now have the Mighty Mouse zoom options for the wired MM.

Cool effect.

Why is everyone commenting on how large the download is? Doesn't everyone know by now to only use the combo updater to prevent problems? I haven't done an OS update through the software update panel since the days of 10.1.x

10.4.8

Doesnt work with my 17" Powerbook
Cursor is a rectangle
Machine then freezes
My advice dont install just yet on Powerbooks:confused:

Back to 10.4.7

I was joking, FWIW.

Someone always says Safari is faster after an update. Figured I'd get it over with.

That said, my update went fine. Now where's Aperture 1.5?

yea, I'll bite

the update is supposed to address broadband performance, and my internet access does seem quite a bit snappier...

I think the update addresses Aperture, too

I've followed this belief for quite a long time. I download the combo updaters because I've had issues with just updating from 10.x.x to 10.x.x before and this way, if I need to revert to a lower OS revision or re-install the update, all the updated components are there along with all the other necessary items. And it also helps since I update my friend's Macs and they usually end up a few updates behind me.

Well I just have to say...

... that Quicktime has never ran smoother since its introduction in System 7.1!

Comcast & Safari?

Yeah really! I'm looking forward to upgrading tonight at home and seeing how much faster Safari will now be. I know, this joke has already been had... But for us Comcast users, maybe.... :p

Having read a few posts that hint at this: are Safari problems something Comcast users are seeing?
I am a Comcast broadband Safari user and have always thought my fast connection never really seemed all that fast.

Anyway, updates are good.

So I risked the direct DL from the Apple site and everything updated fine.
