Warning To Mac Pro Users With Raid Boot Drives

I installed the update on my MacPro 2.66 w/ stiped 2x250gb drives as a boot disk. When I rebooted it kernel panicked on startup. After going to the apple discussion boards it appears the update does not support updating FROM raid disks. The solution appears to be to boot from an external drive and directing the update TO the raid.

Unfortunately I have to wait for someone to give me my external drive back before testing it out.

Also it has been reported that people with mirrored raid, have been able to boot by pulling the other raid disk.

Same happened to me on my early 2006 Intel iMac. Kernel panicked on startup and had to reinstall from the system cd

Second time lucky!

Actually, important question, does 10.4.8 break Transparent Dock?
Also working fine on my MacBook...

Edit: As pointed out later, I'm actually messed up here... ClearDock is working fine... I have no idea about Transparent Dock... ...though according to others it should be fine... ;)

ok cool, my imac G3 400 256ram is now acting rather strange. everything is a lot faster, it used to take 6 seconds to open the dashboard with 12 widgets it now takes 2. programs open and run a lot faster too includeing photoshop cs2 now boots up about twice as fast. pritty good, buying more ram tommorow to top it off.

Well, apparently Software Update has broken on my computer. 2 days ago I ran it and was told to upgrade to iTunes 7.x (from 5.x), install the new point update to QT, and get something else that I forgot. I unchecked everything and quit.

Today I ran it, intending to update now that 10.4.8 is out, and it says I'm fully up to date! What gives?

edit: the other something was the airport driver update.

You're just a youngn'! I've been in since system 5.something... Now system 7, that was HUGE!!!

I still have my system 1 floppies that you had to boot from, then eject and put in whatever app floppy you wanted to run. Those were the days...

Installed the update and everything seems fine also no coloursync issues for me. No change for me and safari IS NOT faster.

My MacBook was PERFECT before this update...

I repaired permissions and all that jazz before installing this update (with nothing else running of course)... trying to be cautious and clean...

...but now I too have the "nasty blue tint" on my screen

I'm on the phone with Apple right now on hold :(

just updated my blackbook and everything seems fine, no blue tint everything works but I was wondering, the apple page on 10.4.8 says th computer will restart twice, is it supposed to boot into os x then restart the second time or is it supposed to restart when the first apple screen comes up with the gray apple and the little spinner underneath it?

Bugs
