Anubus, all I can say is you probably broke something yourself. Fooling with terminal, installing 3rd party crap, etc. No one else has your issue from what I've read. So, depicting your problem as fact to switchers is lying.
Ahh, the helpfulness of the altruistic Mac community is always a sight to behold. I'll just go and write on the blackboard now: "I can't have computer issues, because I'm on a Mac" 20 times.

Came with it, but it doesn't matter now since a second restart fixed the issue.

Ahh, ok.

If your computer has serious probs after the update like it wont boot then post if Leopard came with it or if your updated, because many people I asked (mates and people from another forum) had the problems when their computers were updated to Leopard. If this is correct then perhaps we can dig a little deeper or advise people not to do updates it they have Leopard upgraded from Tiger or whatever...

Okay man whatever you want to say I guess. You think your a smart guy by smiling and scoffing a bit and coming up with a "snappy" response? Go enjoy your Windows machines. Well I say, a Windows user who claims to know Macs is a sight to behold. Enjoy.

Sounds good will do man. The tower and the two iMacs were updated to Leopard, the MBP came with it.

No, I'm asking for troubleshooting suggestions. If you want snappy responses, go further up the page and check the guy who asked you if you knew about the side effects of your meds...

Go enjoy your Windows machines.
What do you think I'm posting from if the Mac is dead?

My Jan 08 SR Macbook 2.2ghz got the 420MB update FWIW.

It installed fine, doing 2 reboots. I was worried because the first reboot never completely finished, so to speak. I got the Apple symbol with the spinning circle line thingie and then it chimed and restarted again. The second time it came up fine, I logged in and all is well. To help rebuild the caches I rebooted it 2x. It shutdown and started up fast.

I can't really say it's faster or snappier, it seems the same. On a clean boot the first time I mouse over the fancy new leopoard bar at the bottom the animation is choppy. Darn X3100 drivers.

Sorry if it seems that way. From what you say you should take your Mac to your nearest Apple dealer to be checked. Seriously, Macs are usually rock solid. I say that having used them since 1984. You may have a lemon with a hardware issue or a corruption in your OS. If you were an experienced user I could suggest all sorts of stuff to try but why stress yourself out more. Take it to a dealer and get them to sort it. Or is it in warranty perhaps? if so Apple are excellent. Best of luck. :)

I don't know if this one has been mentioned yet, but Mail doesn't have that annoying bug where it would mark sent messages as unread!!!

Woohooo!

UPDATE: Nevermind...it's still doing it :(

why did everyone get multiple reboots??

i installed the update and only one update
spotlight took about 2 mins to reindex...but other then that everyhting has been running smoothly (knock on wood)

My Mac Mini downloaded 198 MB and a single reboot would suffice. The iMac wanted 420 MB for some reason, rebooted twice just like yours, but now refuses to let me log in.

What's the deal with 198 vs 420 MB? The only difference I can think about between my Mini and my iMac is that the iMac has iWork installed...

iTunes coverflow bug fixed?

didn't see a response to my question yet so wanted to ask one more time - did anyone experience the problem of coverflow freezing their entire system (forcing a hard restart)?? Specifically, it would occur simply while browsing/scrolling coverflow using the mouse.

If so, did 10.5.3 fix that problem?

Not getting it as an option - I am seeing Yahoo and Exchange, however. Do you have Spanning Sync installed? Anyone else on a PPC system see this?

I don't have the "Google" option either on my SR MacBook with 10.5.3 (420Mo).
Although I do have the new "Google Sync" icon in /System/Library/....

I encountered this problem last time (only once though).. There was a problem with graphic driver... Since Apple has already fixed it, I don't think it will happen again (hopefully) :p

D/L this update at 420 MB. Not sure why so large as I keep my iMac up to date, but no biggie!

It took me about 20 min with 3 Mbs dsl to D/L and another 5 - 8 min approximately to install. 2 reboots and poof all is fine.

This was on a first generation intel iMac. I just Love this iMac. Every time I have ran anything Apple has updated I have not had one problem! That's been near 3 years now! --))) Do that with windoz!

WTG Apple! ;):D;) :apple::apple::apple:

PS Will do my Macbook tomorrow!

Updated Macbook! Went Great! I read postings about their macbook fans running like crazy! really odd as mine never even came on and the update was the same size as my iMac 420Mb. Runs like a dream. Thanks again Apple! ;):):D :apple::apple::apple:

I think it's pretty much been established that you need an iPhone/iPod Touch for the Google Sync to be activated.

Looks like you can edit a .plist to activate it, using any old iPod though.

Details are somewhere within the last 30 pages... Have fun :)

My Macbook C2D/White 2.2 fan whirled like crazy on first start up. Then stopped, and all was well. Did a couple of reboots, and it's been fine since then. Something in the update probably...?

Not yet mentioned in this thread:
After updating to 10.5.3 Diablo 2 LoD will not longer start on (most of the) Intel Macs. :(

but did you have the coverflow problem BEFORE intalling the update? not everyone was affected by it =/ So if you didn't have it before, I'm 99% sure you wouldn't haev it now (after the update)

Updated last night now cannot boot.

I made the mistake of taking this software update late at night.
Unfortunately I now cannot boot from hard disk, DVD or external drive.
Lots of things to try, I will report back later in the week.
