Don't be silly. Someone says this after every update. My computer updated just fine and so did the vast majority of everyone else.
Do what you want ... but we just tried to update 5 machines and EVERY single one locked.

Why is it better to do so using the combo updates (even if as in this case I'm running 10.5.5)? would that duplicate the files, or would it overwrite them and remove the last "individual" updates installed before?
AirPort
Improves the reliability of AirPort connections, including improvements when roaming in large wireless networks with an Intel-based Mac.
I might be imagining this, but I'm 99% certain Safari is running 10 times quicker than it was before installing 10.5.6 - most sites are loading in the blink of an eye which they never used to.
I got the same thing, but it worked eventually, and now it works just fine. That always seems to happen to me after point updates
There is an option in the Finder preferences to turn zooming of icons via pinching on and off.
Big irritation imho. Big let down on apple's part. They need to slow down with all the new hardware that requires software patches and actually fix up the the OS so it is functioning properly.
I would *NOT* recommend updating .. we have tried to update a few machines and every single one locked doing the update.
I checked software update and mine was a 190mb version. After reading this entire thread and seen the problems I am going to go with the Combo Update. However, this is the first time I have done it this way. Are there any special, extra things that I may need to do before/after I update (repair permissions? any other operations?…)?
Thanks in advance
sorry to bump my post, but was hoping someone would be able to help me with my questions.
Cheers
No, there ain't no extra work to do
EDIT: Man are you guys fast...

The smaller updates contain only what Apple thinks is necessary to your particular configuration. While this generally works fine, this method has been known to cause problems. Using the combo update is viewed as more reliable because it is guaranteed to contain all the files that you could possibly need to update a system from any previous 10.5 revision level.
MBA, iMac & MBP updated without issue. Nothing new. Mehhh.
I skipped 10.5.5. Will there be any problem jumping from 10.5.4 to 10.5.6? Or, do I have to install the combo update? Thanx.
