After upgrading to 10.5.6, within iTunes, Mobile Me is now asking to be setup. It is not recognizing that it is already setup on the iPhone. Does anyone else notice this?

I just plugged my iPhone in for the first time since upgrading to 10.5.6 and iTunes shows MobileMe is setup, no problems or changes at all.

Didn't read but searched the whole thread and didn't see this. I noticed that the energy saver optimization preferences are no longer accessible from the menu bar. You can no longer switch between better power savings/Normal/Better performance/Custom. Why? I loved and used that all the time.

LAME!!!!!!!!!

Give those apps a chance to use RAM, post back later.

Yeah that was my first thought, but even on a fresh reboot and I load everything up, parallels pushes me into swap usage. I will be monitoring it though with interest.

Downloaded quickly; less than 5 minutes. Upon restart my Late-MBA got stuck on blue screen with spinning gear. After 30 minutes I held Power Button and it installed in minutes after reboot.

Tks. I'll try that now!

i got two errors whilst downloading?!
im downloading it for the !third! time...

Are you sure you have 10.5.6? Everyone else with the stuck reboot remains on 10.5.5 on restarting.

Once again - to avoid issues, install with the Combo updater.

OK for me

My update went relatively smoothly. I used the combo update. Spotlight did reindex. I did have to pair my Apple bluetooth keyboard again. Time Machine prepared for a while but did kick in eventually.

Things that have been fixed. When saving an email through Mail it does actually save the attachments now. This worked with 10.4 then got broken in 10.5-10.5.5 (although the options was there) - now fixed.

Spaces seems improved with FCP - but may be too early to really tell.

Things that are still not working quite right for me:

Spotlight in a finder window defaults back to whole computer instead of the directory I have navigated to.

In column view and then spotlight in the window then hit back button it switches to list view instead of column view like I had it.

In icon view shift clicking does not select a range but acts like command clicking does.

iChat won’t connect to Bonjour upon autostart - I have to manually tell it that I am available.

After Software update performs and then says successful (or restart now option) going to a different space hides the popped up window and Apple-Tabbing back or clicking on Software Update in the dock does not revert back to the space with the window so you need to manually go through each space to find it to take action for Software Update to be happy. - Also with other apps when having a dialogue box up.

My list is getting shorter with each update.

I sure wish they would bring the drawer back to iCal though - it was so much better at editing events in 10.4 than it is now!

The system is updated, but not Mail

My Mail.app is still at 3.5, although the system is at 10.5.6. Wasn't Mail supposed to be updated?

Add another person with installation problems. I let it sit for an hour at the 5% "Configuring setup". I pressed my ear to the case and the hard drive was just sitting there spinning, no access at all. A click every 10 seconds or so. So I powered down. Everything came right back after the reboot.

Plenty of people are experiencing this issue, FYI:

Installing the combo update sounds like the solution, but I haven't tried it as of yet.

I just plugged in my 3g 2.2 and he started syncing normally.

I'm going to boot up in Windows XP and see if it plays good there.

If so, then it is just a very badly optimised OS X driver.

I have the RAID card , and because of that i can't boot in XP, did not know that when i bought it.

I'm on a late 2008 uni MBP and after the update have noticed much cooler operating temps. Before the update, when using firefox, the temp was at 60-62 C. It's now running at 55-58 C. Anyone else notice lower running temps?

Note: I also installed SMC firmware 1.2 at the same time

Yes, mine also feels much cooler. Wow, what the hell Apple. 10.5.5 was like a kick in the balls and 10.5.6 is like giving us a massage (not necessarily in the balls).

Make sure that under MobileMe preferences you have it set to sync with MobileMe "automatically". Mine was set to every hour after I updated. With it set to automatically, syncing happens instantly.

Syncing for me is just as bad as it was before. Changes made on the phone don't show up on me.com (for 15 - 20 min) and visa versa. I am not seeing the "instant" update :(

Update ran fine on my Early 2008 MBP.

The big performance issue I'm noticing is that memory usage is improved - normally with all of the following running, I hit swap usage (have 4GB ram):
- Finder
- Path Finder
- Mail
- iCal
- Safari
- NetNewsWire
- Adium
- Terminal
- Parallels (Vista VM - 1GB ram allocated)

I'm still sitting with 768MB free now :D

dude, you just rebooted your machine. of course memory usage intilally will be better. come back and report ina couple of days.

MB early 08

No Problems on my Early 08 MB using he software updater 190Mb Download.
Cant notice any significant improvements might try my idisk sync have never been able to sync it since i got my Mobile Me account maybe this update will fix it.

On my Mid 2007 iMac I used software update first and it was giving me permissions errors. I then used the combo update and the errors are gone.

I'm at work, but I'm hoping this fixes the issue on my Mac Mini where I can't hook it up (using a DVI to HDMI cable) to my 42" Philips LCD tv.

I can with all of my other computers and I think At one time I could with the mini, (that’s why I purchased it…to be a little media mac)

an interesting "improvement"

i noticed that 10.5.6 changed the way OS X deals with bluetooth headphones and headsets. my motorola S9's took slightly longer to pair than usual. now, under bluetooth in the apple menu, there is a "link" to sound preferences. just slightly different.

and on a side note, os x crashed about 10 minutes after installing 10.5.6.
its been fine since though.

I have the same MBP as you...hope we get the 4-finger swipe.
But I'm just hoping this is more stable than the 10.5.5.…that update gave me so many problems

I've got the same one and the download is only 190MB...hmmmm, any ideas?

Combo Update is the way to go!!

This was the first time I did a Combo Update..... man... it really make my Mac faster and more responsive. Really, really. I've bougth my Mac with 10.4.4 and never did a Combo before. This time, I did the update via Software Update to 10.5.6... but then I have give the "combos" I try.... never going back.
