Installed this update in 5 minutes from downloadin to back to desktop on my sig system

Did anyone try upgrading their ram on the new aluminium macbook with non-apple ram after this update?

10.5.6 update on Aluminum MB 13" 2.4GHz

Based on some other posts I was a bit worried but it all went well. ~5 mins from start to stop, 2 reboots, no noticeable differences yet.

I'm using the Crucial 4GB upgrade and had a number of random lockups but haven't seen one since the firmware update a week or so ago.

I have had a number of issues with the Airport not connecting to some WiFi networks (United Airlines, my company's wifi, etc.). I'll check on that tomorrow while traveling.

I can't install it on any of my machines. It says configuring update and then just sits there.

Seriously though...why would they make it so you can't change Energy Saver profiles from the menu bar any more???

It made a complete mess of my Time Capsule backups - one of the items it was supposed to improve. It couldn't find the volume. I downloaded and installed the Combo Updater - 669MB - and now it's fine.

I updated to 10.5.6
Now safari won't behave when I try to log into my online banking account.
(firstdirect.com)
Something has changed that means the bank's servers aren't happy with how safari talks to them.
It's equally likely that it's a problem with the bank's online system never having been 100% up to date, but it did work yesterday.

Same here.. Can't login to HSBC online banking...
grrr.... I was so happy with this update until i saw this.. annoying..

Firefox still works.. So its definitely a Safari issue..

Same here, has been sitting there for 30 minutes so far. Will leave it another hour or two before softreset

How many Apple Updates does it take to change a lightbulb? :D

1 bloody great big one?

This was the first time I did a Combo Update..... man... it really make my Mac faster and more responsive. Really, really. I've bougth my Mac with 10.4.4 and never did a Combo before. This time, I did the update via Software Update to 10.5.6... but then I have give the "combos" I try.... never going back.

It probably isn't faster due to the Combo. It is faster due to 10.5.6.

Software update did not work on all four of my MAcs (this is the very first time this has ever happened) What gives??? I even let one sit for two hours.

But the combo install worked fine on all.

Will try again later...

Seriously, i've had problems with the 10.5.x to 10.5.x+1 updates since 10.5.1! I wish somebody could give Apple a slap around the head and teach them how to make updates that you know...work!!

That's why I now only ever do the combo updates, and am running 10.5.6 happily now :)

Annoyed they took away the power saver options under the battery icon, they deserved another slap around the head for that too

Why is it better to install these mayor updates running safe mode?

and...

Why is it better to do so using the combo updates (even if as in this case I'm running 10.5.5)? would that duplicate the files, or would it overwrite them and remove the last "individual" updates installed before?

thanks for your thoughts!

Safe mode stops all other processes from running other then the OS

Combo updates repair any files that have been corrupted in incremental OS updates... Combo updates overwrite existing files.

everything fine here

Installed on both my alumn macbook and intel macmini without issues at all using s/w update. downloading took around 3 mins and installing may be 10 mins with two reboots. :p

I updated my comp with the 190GB one, It was slow but it went thru all the way. CoD4 ran pretty smooth for an hour, I have to say It did very well, it was so nice that I forgot that I was using the 2.4 iMac with 2400HD card thinking I was using the smallest Mac Pro I have.
Still the game hard crashed my comp and had to force reboot it. That was the only thing I was hoping to be fixed. But at least it let me play almost for an hour and half.

All the other apps, specially video ones; run bit faster :)

No issues here too. I just downloaded the Combo Update from Apple's Website. (~600MB) I always do this for Mac OS updates and run "Maintenance" in the Onyx utility.

All Good Here

Hi everybody!

Just installed on first gen mac pro and no problems so far! I have noticed Mail.app sounds now play back through the built in system speakers like they used too in Tiger even when you have Line Out selected as main sound output, so it's nice to have that back!!

Ahh I downloaded it extremely quickly through Software Update. It was 190MB. I restarted, but it hanged on the "configuring installation" part. what am i supposed to do? i tried to install it multiple times, I'm still hanging... And where is the update file stored if you downloaded thru Software Update? I'm trying the combo update right now...

No problems with my install

I'm glad that I ran upstairs to put my clothes away while it was loading - I got back to the computer just about 5 mins later and heard my imac "ding" reboot. It gave me a bit of a shock, but everything seems to be working fine. Here's hoping that the airport stays in touch with my imac and apple tv for good now so I don't have to keep running upstairs and unplugging and replugging the airport daily!

Mobile ME Works

 MY Mobile Actually automatically synced my files (its only one 127Mb zip file which took and hour but at least it worked!!!!) :D
