Ahh I downloaded it extremely quickly through Software Update. It was 190MB. I restarted, but it hanged on the "configuring installation" part. what am i supposed to do? i tried to install it multiple times, I'm still hanging... And where is the update file stored if you downloaded thru Software Update? I'm trying the combo update right now...

Its stored in your hardrive under the Library folder and then updates in MacOSX update make sure the file is 190Mb if not delete and download again

my iMac has been stuck in a reboot cycle for a few hours now, it will get to the apple logo on the gray screen, then reboot in about 15 minutes. I have hard powered down and waited a while, still doing the same thing...

any help??

My iMac at work was back up and running in about four minutes.

I have a Mack-Book 2.2GHz 2Gb ram 120 HDD and try to update using the Software Update. It download well but when I tried to install it, just keep showing the blue screen and the circle running almost for an hour and a half...

Do I have any chance to recover my data? Because I don´t have the back up done

Hold the power button for 5 seconds. It should shut down. Then reboot. Can you still access the OS; does it still boot?

I updated to 10.5.6
Now safari won't behave when I try to log into my online banking account.
(firstdirect.com)
Something has changed that means the bank's servers aren't happy with how safari talks to them.
It's equally likely that it's a problem with the bank's online system never having been 100% up to date, but it did work yesterday.

Go to Safari > Preferences > Advanced and show the Develop menu. Now go to the Develop menu and select User Agent > Internet Explorer 7 or FireFox or something. Choose one that says XXXX Windows. Now the online bank server should be fooled into thinking your Safari connection is something else (the option you selected).

Aok

Updated MBP with no problems. Update on MacMini stalled at 'configuring installation'. So I shut it down (hold power button for 5 seconds), restarted, downloaded the combo update (600Mb+), installed it, and everything is working fine.

Only changes I've noticed:
* MobileMe syncing is faster, and update on iPhone is quick
* As above, embedded wmv files in mail will now play

It's around .5 to .6 on each operating system that things start to get very stable. Again, this is my experience.

No doubt I'll upgrade to Snow Leopard the day it comes out, despite all the instabilities we all know will be there and the relative stability of 10.5.11 or whatever.

Just rebooted the ol' MacBook, ran Software update and let it do it's thang.

Literally 15 minutes later, everything was all said and done.

Combo?

First off mine wont install, It downloads then i hit restart and then it says unable to do something and just loads up normally. So I read in here to download it from apples website and there is a combo download at +600 Megs.
What's the difference between the regular and the combo?

downloading now =D mine is off the 3XXMB variant on a 2.16ghz macbook (i think that makes it mid 2007?)

That question's been answered already, but I'll answer before people come in and start telling you to read the thread, especially since it's so long now. The combo update includes all the updates for every system from 10.5.1-10.5.6. Technically you should be good either way, but the combo update, although bigger, can be a little safer or cleaner.

No issues here too. I just downloaded the Combo Update from Apple's Website. (~600MB) I always do this for Mac OS updates and run "Maintenance" in the Onyx utility.

I always do the same. I prefer the combo updates and it makes it easier to install on 4 Macs. I actually have a transparent menu bar now too on my Mac Pro.

On my GMA 950 Macbook everything feels a bit faster especially expose when playing 3D intensive games its now smooth as butter. And Warcraft framerates have went up by 5-10fps in most areas.

Thanks, I read about 6 pages of people saying it worked and the thread is very long

For those having problems with the SU. Go to \Library\Updates and then delete .6 update.

Redownload it using SU and make sure the ENTIRE file downloads. Restart and it should work.
