Me too, I went back to 10.5.4 to avoid those issues.

Hackintosh maybe??? Hmm. Most real Mac users don't care to stay with the old OS version, we generally look forward to an update.

Where o Where has my power settings gone? This one is new since I updated to 10.5.6.

Lots Quicker

Things feel a lot quicker now switching between spaces with more programs than i normally run and it isn't slowing down or showing the spinning rainbow :D and when i emptied he trash securely was still able to do everything without freezing up :D

I'm still trying to get my MB updated, daft thing keeps taking a while, then it loses the wifi signal. Probably just press update on both my Macs and wake up to see them burned to the ground. You didn't say that EULA!

Nobody else has mentioned the new button in the Bluetooth system preferences labelled "File Sharing Setup...", which links you to the Sharing system preferences pane.

I presume this is in direct response to the daily posts on Apple's Bluetooth Discussion forum about why Bluetooth file transfers to the Mac don't work in 10.5.x - Bluetooth Sharing has to be explicitly turned on unlike in 10.4.x

For some of us, when ever new mail arrived there was no sound, but now there is. So that's great.

I'm guessing this is an issue that has to be fixed through GrowlMail and not by Apple, but hopefully my new mail notifications will stop being delayed so long. One time, I got a new e-mail and deleted it, with no notification. The NEXT TIME I started up Mail, the message was read and in the trash, the "New Mail" notification for it finally popped up. It was bizarre.

Airport Connectivity???

Has anyone noticed an improvement in Airport Connectivity??? I just got a new 24" iMac 2 weeks ago :D and the airport has been uncooperative at best. I just hope when I get home and download the update tonight it is all better. Thanks everyone!:apple:

COMBO UPDATE is always the safest way to go as the Combo update updates everything and sometimes fixes things you may have broken or files you might have corrupted since the previous update or even going back through previous updates. The regular update only updates what's different from the previous version to the newest and will not rewrite every file back to Mac OS X 10.0.

However, YES, it WILL take significantly MORE time to download and install.

But, I ALWAYS keep a copy of the LATEST COMBO update for every Mac I own as a fail safe.

It's just the smart thing to do if you have a mission critical machine or don't want to take any chances.

Its gone for me too:confused:
Otherwise the install was smooth, although it took some time

Being able to change those settings was part of the reason why I bought a Mac. I guess it's not a big deal, it was just nice while it lasted. You can change it if you go into the preferences.

Issue with iPhone headset on Unibody Macs with new update

Does anyone have an issue with using the remote on the iPhone headset when using a unibody macbook?

Before the update, I could click once to pause/play, twice to go to the next song and 3 times to go back.

After updating to 10.5.6 this doesn't seem to work for me anymore. The inline mic also appears not to be detected as well.

I have this same problem with my DP 1.8 G5 Power mac (4.5GB Ram, ATI 9800 Pro Card, 2 500GB drives RAID as one 1TB Drive)

got it too boot from my Disc Warrior CD and for the fix to run, but then same thing, chime/gray apple for about 15 seconds/then power off/ repeat

haha, mine just sprung to life! not sure what to tell you.... I updated about 5 hours ago and it just now came on.

dowloaded, restart then restart again, all fine here. Why so many negative ratings though?

Has anybody's icon changed? Or is the new icon only on the new laptops?

0. Close System Preferences
1. Download the EnergySaver.zip file attached.
2. Go to /System/Library/PreferencePanes/EnergySaver.prefPane/
3. Open Contents/Resources (either show package contents or cd)
4. Backup the existing EnergySaver.icns (both included in zip file)
5. Copy over the EnergySaver.icns file you want (change the name of EnergySaver\ 2.icns)

Do what you want ... but we just tried to update 5 machines and EVERY single one locked.

Could it be something common to all of these machines that is making it not work? I probably would have stopped after 1 or maybe 2 machines ....

Darn more figiding to be done on my Wind.

Isn't that the fun part? :)
