I have the unlimited family texting plan. And just to confirm that it did send, i sent it to my father's phone and he did receive it, both of them.

That's why! I've heard a couple people reporing that was possible and they all had the same plan as you... I have the 200 msg iPhone text plan... Maybe that's why I can't send any mms....

same still cant get it to work.

This is what worked for me:

1. Reset Network Settings
2. Re-installed the ipcc file that came with the Official 3.0 software update.
3. Re-installed the mobileconfig file found at http://help.benm.at/help.php (he updated it)

Tethering works, MMS shows up (but doesn't work for me) and Visual Voicemail works. Let me know if this works for you. What MMS settings are you using btw? I'm sure it works for you because of that family plan messaging is the standard text messaging feature, unlike the iPhone SMS package.

I have a family shared unlimited plan as well. No idea what's up.

i reset my network settings and that worked for me. also, try re-installing the ipcc file (AT&T_US v 4.0). I was in the same situation you were... but how the hell did you get MMS working? must be the family plan text messaging? What MMS settings do you have?

ipcc file (AT&T_US v 4.0) is that under the iphone carrier support folder in libary etc?

OMG OMG OMG i figured it out why my MMS works and your guys' doesnt, a while ago i jailbroke my phone and tried to get swirlymms to work, the MMS application however it wasnt working. What made it work was the fact you needed to call ATT and basically get them to enable WAP push on your phone. This is the feature that allows MMS sending. I went through a crap ton of hassle to get them to do this but i got some airhead lady to do it. If you search about swirly MMS and stuff like that you'll find articles on what to do. That's why it works for me and not you guys because i was able to send MMS with my jailbroken and in this case the settings are still in the computer for my phone at ATT that allows me send MMS.

Oh and i got VVM to work btw thanks guys

I wonder what to say to the representative haha.

nice one, glad it worked for you. what did you do?

You have to get on the phone with ATT and say hey i want WAP Push enabled on my phone, they will reply "Well you're using an iPhone we can't do that for you" but then you respond, "Well i switch out my sim card into another phone to take pictures for work/school/etc so i don't see why you can't just enable it since im not using an iphone for the pictures im using another, so can you please enable WAP Push?" once you get them to do it, have them reset your phone OTA, in doing so it resets you on the network, does no harm just a simple reset of your phone's network, but after you get off the phone with them turn off your phone and wait for like 2-3 mins so they reset it OTA, once you turn it back on it should work. However the hard part is getting someone to do that for you. I came across people that said "we seriously cant do that in our system..." which is a lie they can do it, they are just told not to. So you have to spend a while trying to find someone to do it for you without them knowing you are trying to send MMS on the iphone.

I mean how did you fix your VVM LOL! Thanks though.

I am guessing the chances of success for that now are much smaller as they will be much more aware of it.

Before there were so few people doing it that it was never brought to anyones attention to not do.

I suspect they will or have been getting enough calls now that they will have a policy not to do this individually and they will tell people to wait.

I just noticed that i was getting my Voicemails after i reset my network settings, but quickly after i tested it and called my phone left a message and 5 mins went by w/o it registering a voicemail, i reset network settings and restarted and the message popped up why are my voicemails lagging/sucking so badly?

I have a question, after doing all of this and doing the custom ipcc files and such, how do you get rid of it all, do you have to restore the whole thing or can you just delete something to get it back to normal. I'm tired of messing with VVM and sending MMS is cool but i dont really do it at all

I'm doing a full restore now, I have no use for tethering (already have a 3g usb card) but I wanted to play around with it.

To re-enable VVM on AT&T iPhones

Dial *5005*86*yournumber# where "yournumber" is your 7 digit cellphone number. Don't forget the pound sign (#) at the end.

Hit Send. Screen will briefly flash. You're good to go. VVM back. Will take the cell network a few minutes to re-establish VVM connection (to hear messages, etc).

This worked for me.

resetting network settings worked for me. i just hate having to put back all my passwords

Quote:"Ok heres how you fix your voice mail-
1. Connect the phone to itunes and option click restore
2. Navigate to your user name->Library->iTunes->iPhone Carrier Support
3. Select the file contained within "iPhone Carrier Support" and proceed
You now have your voicemail working again"

6) took out sim and put it back in while restarting the phone.

Theese Instructions are AT&T only! and is what worked for me."

Can you elaborate on where you are "navigating" exactly?

Tethering bluetooth

I have experience many weired occurrences:

1. The first it when I downloaded the 3.0 software Little Snitch pickup "albert.apple.com
2. after downloading and restarting my IPHONE sync automatically, via bluetooth, with "laptop" which has the same mac address as my Macbook Pro.

2. it automatically turn on my Macbook Pro's bluetooth. It show "V*@c's IPHONE" and my IPHONE's address.

3. As fast as it sync it went away except as a record in my MAC Book Pro.

4. I know that the first generation IPHONE can Tether/bluetooth and I want this feature back. So how can I? Hacker please anyone?

5. Many of my download app were removed from my IPHONE I hope it just a matter of using Itune to get them back on my phone.

Would love to hear from you,

Cheers Valkat:eek:

tethering right now yay!
if only I could get MMS to work. i've tried 5 different at&t customer service reps but they won't budge.

I just want to add that, zillian, your method doesn't only apply to Mac users; while Windows users can't run the terminal command to un-grey out the option to select a custom carrier file, what we can do, however, is after activating 3.0 and whatnot on our phones, uninstall our current iTunes 8.2 and download the pre-release version of 8.2 (google around...be resourceful) and install that (or install that on another computer). With the pre-release, you're able to select a custom .ipcc.

Just noticed something weird. I have tethering working and the MMS enabled (but not working) right now. I just went to send a text to 2 people and it changed from standard text to "group MMS". Then of course it couldn't send the message. I turned MMS off in settings and it worked fine.

Anyone seen this? Any ideas on what to do?

Brian
