Solid is the word, it feels like a solid chunk of metal.
By far the most well built phone Apple have ever released.
I’m coming from a 11PM and it is noticeably heavier, but I’ve not really noticed a difference in physical size. It doesn’t “feel” bigger to me, but it does look chunkier.
Love it and so pleased I upgraded. They are gorgeous in the flesh.
Jason
I agree with you on your heavier statement. I was first surprised when I lifted its box out of the shipping box. Although the box is smaller than the box my 11 Pro Max came in it seemed to be noticeably heavier. The phone does also even though I used my 11PM with the Apple Smart Battery case. I really love it.

Upgraded from iPhone 7 to the 12 Pro Max and was genuinely concerned that the size would be too much. My original intention, before iPhone announcement, was to get the 12 Pro as thought that was big enough but as my main motivation was best camera felt forced to get the Max. However, the size really doesn't bother me and I love it - fits in my Jeans pocket easily and don't find it cumbersome to handle in the slightest. Even my wife, who is pretty petite, thinks the size is fine to handle.

Coming from a long line of big phones - S8+, Note8, Note 9, 11 Pro Max, and now my beautiful 12 Pro Max, I have to say I LOVE the size and look of this phone. Love that it’s bigger and I have a case on it as well as a pop socket which I’ve used on ALL my phones with absolutely no issues or concerns about weight or handling this device. For those complaining, they should have known this. Apple makes different sizes to accommodate. You can’t please everyone. Just get what you like and stop complaining about not liking the Pro Max. If it’s not for you, go and buy something else! Simple as that.

What's funny, is that I have opposite experience :) I really hated the size/weight of 11 Pro Max (I sold it and exchange it with 11 Pro) and now I'm using 12 Pro Max and thinking like damn, I love this phone :D I know that it's even larger and weights more, but there is something that I like about the ergonomics (I'm using it without case if it's matter).
Somehow same here. I did not hate the 11 PM, but don't know why but I do love this 12 PM form factor more. I believe the form not being curved has made it distribute the bulk, causing it to feel lighter (Just my thoughts, may be I'm wrong).

I've always had the biggest iPhones and am coming from the 11 Pro Max, but found the 12 Pro Max just too big. Realizing the actual dimensions and weight are close to the 11 Pro Max, not sure how to explain, but it just seemed much bigger and heavier to me. My decision was made this weekend at a restaurant when I found myself thinking too much about where to place it on the relatively crowded dining table. Had a similar experience thinking about where best to place on my bathroom counter. I never had these thoughts with my 11 Pro Max.

Anyway, returned it last night and picked up the 12 Pro.

Won't you miss the bigger screen and better battery?

Are you seriously telling us that your 11PM would have fitted on a dining table and bathroom counter whereas the 12PM would not ? ..... 😃

Yea it’s so much bigger it just couldn’t fit on those places normally anymore. It’s like the dining table and counter shrunk 😆

I do know that the 12 Pro Max is too tall to fit on my Tesla charging mat in portrait mode. Epitome of first world problems. I'll trade out the charging mat for one that can charge horizontally. No biggie, but was kind of funny coming from XS Max which fit perfectly.

Keeping my 12 PM of course, and the screen's huge and gorgeous.

I'm just jealous you're in a a part of the world where you can go into a crowded restaurant!

I agree. I was one of the guys in the beginning (before release) saying the weight is the same, it's a little longer, but we're talking 1mm, how can it be that much bigger?

It is though! I can't explain it. If I didn't already sell my 11PM I would have gone back. I've been searching for a used one that matches the same condition mine was in and haven't had any luck yet.

I’m a woman and absolutely love the 12Pro Max. I preordered it and then watched the videos. I was nervous at first because they were all saying how huge it was. I went to pick it up on Friday and checked out the 12 pro to see if I would like it better and knew instantly that I had made the right choice. I love the size and feel of the Pro Max!

I'm thinking that I'm finding it so much bigger from the 11PM because I'm using the leather case with the 12PM and I went naked with the 11PM. So I took off the case on my 12PM and it for sure makes a big difference.

However, it's slippery AF! WOW! Can't go caseless with the 12PM IMO.

Loving the 12pro max. coming from an 11pro I really like the bigger screen and the weight is not a huge issue for me. It's an adjustment. Doesn't fit in my cup holder in my car like my 11pro did or my pocket at the gym but I will adjust. I have an ipx for work and it feels tiny now lol. The screen is a lot nicer and I like the squared edges since i think it's easier to hold with one hand. So I am going to keep it....

My phone just arrived today. Coming from the 11PM, my first thought was "Man, that's a big screen!" I haven't been using it for long yet, but already typing feels easier to me, though I've always been better at typing with two hands. The weight difference feels negligible for me. So far I'm happy. (Disclaimer - I'm a girl with short fingers)

I had a chance to play/use all three phones (mini, pro, and pro max) before deciding. Initially I was considering the mini because pro max was just way too big, but, I decided to go with a pro max in the end. I have been using it for two days now and I'm glad I chose to go with pro max. My wife's pro already feels tiny now. Haha.

I like big phones and I cannot lie. But I was on the fence about getting the 12 Pro Max just because I keep hearing so much about how big it is. I want the best camera and battery life. My eyes are old, so I want a screen I can easily see. Then I want to site and put in 12 Max Pro, 12 Pro and my current phone (6SPlus). My current phone is bigger than 12 Pro - at least the actual phone is. There isn't a lot of size difference between the 12 Pro Max and the 6SPlus. Virtually same width wise (same in inches. .3 mm difference) and 1/10 inch longer. I'm just going to get more screen for the size. I'm good with that. My phone arrives mid December. I could be wrong about the size, but I think I will be fine. I have medium size hands.

This is totally me. Will push through and see if I get used to it because I like the phone. The weight is the only thing throwing me off.

Try using a ring grip or popsocket

I bought the 12 pro max and received it yesterday afternoon. I’ve come from the iPhone X. I can’t get used to the size- it’s soo big and heavy compared to the X. I’ve had less than 24 hours use so I’m hoping I’ll get used to it. Anybody else in the same boat? Do you think I will get used to the size?

Try using a ring grip or popsocket, you may or may not. I do find there are times I don’t think the phone is heavy but then there’s times i feel it is heavy.

Huh?

Mine fits... it's close but it fits.
