Just picked it up this evening. It’s not much bigger but it does feel bigger.

Having the benefit both a 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, i'm leaning towards returning the Max and keeping the Pro. Love the screen - hate the size/feel.

I have big hands and have had the + or Max phones for years, and am coming from an 11 Pro Max. But the slight size increase coupled with the squared off edges make the 12 Pro Max feel awful, and incredibly difficult to hold.

Never thought i'd go back to the smaller phones, but Apple really screwed this one up. Even 'big phone people' like me are finding it too big.

It’s bigger. But coming from 11 PM it doesn’t feel that much bigger. It feels less painful to rest my pinkie on the flat edge too. 🙃

So are you going to keep the 12 pro?

yeah i hear ya, same boat, feel same way!

Here is a video of it on the 11 PM. It looks like this, just with flat edges.

Honestly I have mixed feelings. I like the grip it provides. I like that it's so lightweight it's like having no case at all.

I don't like the exposed buttons on the side. It makes it feel too flush with the case itself. I also miss the level of grip provided by a silicone case.

I have a cheap silicone case from Amazon coming on Monday. My guess is I'll use that instead and return the Pitaka. I'll know for sure what I'll do once I get the silicone case. I absolutely won't go caseless. The frosted back is insanely slippery IMO.
I have the Pitaka Air case on my PM love it! so minimal, to be its manageable, I had an apple leather case on and it seemed so bulky :(

Size is very familiar with the 11PM, IMO. It’s a bit heavier for sure though. So glad all the “it’s big” talk didn’t push me to the 12 Pro. I was worried.

Hi, just got My 12 pro max.. And holy Mother of huge god this is HUGE. Haha. I am really in chok. It is and it feels huge. Like an mini iPad..

What do you other say, Who got it in hands.
I owned an iPhone 6 plus followed by a Samsung Note 8. The Pro Max is a slightly larger phone, but not by much.

This is where I'm leaning at the moment too. It's just the screen is so gosh darn beautiful. I hate to have to give it up!

Here are the sizes and weights of the 11 and 12 Pro Max phones. They are very close. I don’t doubt the 12 Pro Max feels different because of the flat sides. But it is slightly thinner.

Height

6.33 inches (160.8 mm) 12 Pro Max

6.22 inches (158.0 mm) 11 Pro Max

Width

3.07 inches (78.1 mm) 12 Pro Max

3.06 inches (77.8 mm) 11 Pro Max

Depth

0.29 inch (7.4 mm) 12 Pro Max

0.32 inch (8.1 mm) 11 Pro Max

Weight

8.03 ounces (228 grams) 12 Pro Max

7.97 ounces (226 grams) 11 Pro Max

This info is from Apple.com.

Not a case person here. Finding the 12 pro max to be easier to hold than the 11 Pro Max when one handed reading; because the sides are flat, I find I don't need a pinky shelf as I feel super secure holding onto the phone even if using my thumb to swipe occasionally. For texting, the one sided keyboard works great with the pinky shelf, though my hands are big enough I can reach to the other side of the screen with my thumb with minimal difficulty. My home screen is mainly widgets save the bottom two rows of the second page of home screen, so all icons are tapable while the widgets are glanceable. In love with the camera (the video stabilization in particular is absolutely astounding) and the screen is great for ebooks, magazine longform from News+, and video content. Battery is way too early to tell but my stint with the non max 12 pro was more than satisfying so I imagine this will be a 40% at end of day kind of device.

Those already ready to call it quits, if you're a big phone person, just give it a week. You'll come to love the feel.

I’m really torn. The camera is great and I love the battery life, but it’s a huge phone. I’m really tempted to try the mini out but I’m concerned with battery life.

It looks beautiful but it’s pretty big. Coming from anXS Max and this is even bigger.

I will be returning through, not because of size as I got used to it in a day, but in general use it’s really not worth shelling out almost $1200 with tax.

will wait until next year.

What's funny, is that I have opposite experience :) I really hated the size/weight of 11 Pro Max (I sold it and exchange it with 11 Pro) and now I'm using 12 Pro Max and thinking like damn, I love this phone :D I know that it's even larger and weights more, but there is something that I like about the ergonomics (I'm using it without case if it's matter).

So I've used mine for a day on the weekend and decided to return it. I think I could adjust to the size but I don't like the design. Spending that much money on a phone I don't love doesn't seem right. Don't see the benefits in comparison to my 11 PM either. The larger screen is not really useful except for in movies and games maybe. The bigger and bulkier camera only shines in edge-cases and sticks out by a bit even if you put a case on so it never lays flat on the table. I like the flat edges a lot but of all the new iPhones I think the PM ist the least nice. Really disappointed that Apple took the PM-line into this direction but it's only 10 months to the iPhone 13 anyway - so maybe 2021 will be better! :)

This design will be around for at least the next 3yrs if not 5+. Apple didn't retool this year to only change it the next.

Nothing against the new-old design in general. I think with the regular iPhone 12 and Pro they really nailed it. I mean, the iPhone 12 in black looks so much like a iPhone 5, it's just beautiful. Going from 11 PM to iPhone 12 would be a downgrade, 11 PM to 13 not as much or at all I hope.

Honestly cannot fathom the people saying they like how the flat edges feel. They are sharp and uncomfortable! They hurt the hands from being so sharp!

Point well taken. However we might see addition of underscreen Touch ID or micro oled screens etc
The square sides are not being Recieved as well as the rounded ones. There are many threads talking about this

Agree, it's now a 3-years cycle. First year new design, second year features improvement, third year performance improvements
