Is a DFU restore of iOS 14.3 worth it? Would it help any?
It won't help. I had to DFU restore my 12 Pro yesterday due to an SMS messaging issue. Setup as new, no restore from backup. Stutter is still there sporadically.

I've not noticed this as happening all the time, just randomly and I can find no rhyme or reason for when it happens. A minor annoyance to me, but I can see where it would bother others, and definitely needs to be fixed as my 11 Pro didn't do this.

This thread is funny.
1. Quitting apps is not something Apple recommends.
2. The hiccup is barely noticeable and doesn't mean anything- the app is still closing.
3. The motion animations are just eye candy anyway

Doesn't seem like this is about quitting apps, as it's simply about leaving an app.

Whatever the case might be, seems like some people are noticing something that isn't happening as smoothly or as fast as it should otherwise be. It doesn't seem to be a functional type of issue in terms of affecting something functionality, but more of a usability/experience one.

That said, as I recall quite a few similar type of reports have been around for a variety of iOS versions before, even prior to there being iPhones without physical home buttons.

Everyone is correct. It's 100% software related. I just wanted to go through the process of elimination. Was great for 16 hrs then randomly popped up out of nowhere. Guess we just have to sit and wait for Apple to finally figure it out.
Thanks for letting us know.

Even worse using the AirPod pro max. I don’t think Apple knows how or is even capable of fixing this. So annoying.

To the OP:

Title says "when closing apps"

I also get the same stutter when double tapping photos in the photos app (for quick zooming in), happens zoom in and out too .. quite bad

This thread reminds me of the home button delay issue a few years back... I’m glad I’ve grown since then! It’s crazy how something so minor can drive people nuts! (myself included)

I use reduce motion so I’d never see this stutter to begin with. I’m still going strong on my iPhone 7 with the home button delay and I got over it. You guys can get over this little stutter too. You can!

It’s not the visual issue. It’s the fact that the phone does something I don’t intend it to. When I swipe to go home, very often it will launch the app switcher instead. That gets frustrating when it happens multiple times a day. I wouldn’t care as much otherwise.

That sounds like something that's somewhat different.

This issue drives me crazy because the swipe up often fails resulting in the multitasking view. I've been experiencing it on my iPhone 11 Pro for about a year now. I've sort of retrained my brain to swipe up slowly until the stutter passes before flicking, which usually avoids the multitasking view, but is still annoying. I've had an open issue with Apple support for a while now. My advice for everyone who is experiencing this is to call support and open an case. They claim it isn't very wipe spread, but I think most people just think they are swiping wrong or something. A developer noticed error messages in the system console whenever the stutter happens pointing to RunningBoard (see here: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/667214). I've added this thread to my open case but I don't really know if they are actively trying to fix this or not. Hopefully if enough people report it, maybe it will get fixed. But after a year of jumping on every update hoping it will be fixed, I'm not holding my breath anymore ;)

I had this issue with my iPhone XS Max (from iOS 12 to iOS 14.3) and the issue never fixed in this 2 years. So yesterday I bought iPhone 12 Pro Max and unfortunately the issue presented in this new phone too. I geuss something is wrong with one app. Let’s share the name of apps to each other.
