Aaron Zollo seems to pretty much mention it in every one of his YouTube videos since I pointed it out to him in Twitter. I know I mention him a lot here but he’s the only one that has responded to me and has been talking about it. Also, not to get too far off topic but I also realized that Instagram previews no longer load in iMessage. Not sure if that’s an iOS problem or Instagram problem seeing as how they just updated their app to somewhat support pro raw. Anyone else having this problem? See attached image View attachment 1699724

Loads of people have mentioned it to him over the last few weeks including myself.

Still happening for me on iPhone 12
Pro iOS 14.3,

Happens so often I’ve gotten used to it. maybe 1 in 10 app closes I’d say.

It frustrates me so much when it breaks the gesture. If it was just a stutter, yeah it would be annoying. But the fact that it literally breaks a major navigation gesture is why I don’t understand why Apple isn’t taking it more seriously. Every time I swipe up and it goes to multitasking view I want to throw my phone 😉 For me, I’d say it’s around 1 in 5 swipes.

Same for me. Even more frustrating when this phone supposedly has significantly more RAM than the iPhone 11 Pro I’m coming from...

In settings/accessibility/touch/Haptic Touch, I changed from slow to fast and it seems to have helped the stutter. I will report back as some time passes as the stutter can sometimes go away and come back.

Might be worth a try to see if it helps others having this issue.

I’ve had mine on fast and I’ve been experiencing this issue since I got the phone in November.

Theoretically everyone should be seeing this, but there’s only a few reports of it.
Likely comes down to how a person uses the device. If the stuttering is on close, I’d be one of those that don’t see it as I don’t open then close my apps that quickly. Just swiping through, I’ve got 46 screens of apps. Now, as I was swiping through, one swipe stuttered slightly, but, again, as it’s something I’ve only done once and likely won’t do again, the issue as it exists doesn’t affect me to a distracting amount.

I have friends that are always closing apps, though. I can imagine it’s annoying for them.

Wow 46 pages? I have 2 and thought it was too many lol. I do use a lot of folders though.

Not pages of apps, 46 apps in the multitasking view. :) I have friends that, when they get a moment, go into multitasking view and swipe up, swipe up, swipe up, swipe up. They will likely see the issue more than I would.

This seems to be more about simply leaving the apps (as in to go to back to the Home Screen, for example) rather than using the app switcher to quit them.

Right, we’re talking about swiping up in an app to return to the Home Screen, not force-closing an app from the app switcher.

Also, the number of apps in the switcher isn’t really representative of anything. It’s just a list of your most recently used apps, not necessarily those that are suspended in the background. Reboot the phone and open the app switcher and it’ll still show a long list.

I believe Apple won’t continue working on this until next year. This really sucks.

So glad I found this group! I had this problem since early betas of iOS 14 on my iPhone X🅂. Now I’m using iPhone 11 not-beta and the annoying problem is still there! I really thought at first it was a backup restore issue. 🥺

Yeah, I actually did a factory reset on my 12 Pro Max and even did a warranty swap and got a new device and set that one up from scratch so it's def a bug in IOS 14. One can only hope it gets resolved soon.

same here on 12 PM. happens so often, driving me nuts

Really you have the same problem with a swapped unit? I was going crazy and then i found this forum....
It's a very annoying problem. I always get multitasking while swiping to close the app. I noticed that it is a little worse with the app just installed. If you run them the first time and then you close you can reproduce the problem around 100%. The more annoying thing is when it goes to multitasking page!!
I was about to ask for a swap unit, so i bet you don't suggest....but i'm really upset!
i got since the day one and apple has carried out two ios 14 upgrade, so strange they still didn't fix it!

If it’s a big enough issue for you, then report it to Apple. The more people that report it the better. I’m afraid just bitching and moaning on here (and I don’t blame anyone for doing that) and doing nothing proactive about it will achieve zero. It does seem of late that Apples approach to issues like this is to basically ignore it until it goes away. So please do get onto them about it.
