I didn't made any ios upgrade with this. It had 14.3 just out of the box.

With the previous faulty one It was 14.2 and I upgraded to 14.3 but I remark that i had the stutter problem with the phone right out of the box.
Ah I just meant it usually goes away for me after an update for a few days, so assume a new phone could have a similar effect.

Wish you the best of luck with it, please do report back after a few more days of testing and let us know if there has been any stutter.

Absolutely, I will upgrade in a few days what happens, but the feeling is that this unit is perfect! If i think of the previous one I think there were other problems. It was not smooth as this one, i notice really a big difference!

I can even reproduce this issue on every exhibiting unit in the Apple Store. Let’s wait and see what would happen to your replacement unit in a few more days.
I’m quite confident it would happen again since I’ve replaced it twice.

I had the original 12 pro 128 gb and had the stutter. I got the 512GB Max and it took a week or so for any stuttering to show up. Also one guy on here says he no longer has stutter after cleaning up apps etc. I also have a friend who had bad stutter for awhile and its been completely gone for weeks. We dont knew why but I promise you it was not deffective hardware that just magically fixed itself. I still think some use pattern or app leaves something in memory that causes this based on everything one seen. Again this is not a hardware issue im positive.

I also remember with the mail notification bug on iOS 13 with Exchange email where sometimes swapping out the phone resolved it for some people. This was clearly a software issue that was fixed in iOS 14. Software is strange sometimes there no obvious reason why things sometimes just go away. No way in hell would I try to exchange my phone and spend hours entering hundreds of passwords until we have a better answer from Apple as im still 110% certain this is software and can be fixed if Apple gave a ****.

Whether it’s a software issue or not, it’s definitely Apple’s fault, and Apple should apologize for it. Unfortunately, Apple must be celebrating their “record-breaking” Q1 revenue without noticing any actual complaints from the customers.

Why would they apologize for this over any other bug?

well, of course I hope it won't show again. For now I'm happy I don't have any of that issues (even the imovie one). You can call it software, you can call it hardware, the things I can say (from my PERSONAL experience in with this problem) is that:

1) differently from the other user that was able to reproduce it in all the apple store's phones I was not able to reproduce it on my two friends units and also i was not able to reproduce it on the 4 units that were in the megastore.
And to reproduce the problem I didn't need any particular skill. To me it happened just using the phone normally and really really often.

2)I had the problem on the first unit, I don't have the problem on the second one (for now) So what can I say? I can only say that in the previous unit it has not been there for a while and then disappear for one or two or 7 days. It was everyday there. It was every HOUR there. Even if I will have this problem on this unit from here to one month it's a very big improvement.

You said you don't want to waist time to insert passwords, I say, in my totally personal opinion, I spent one month of salary to buy this phone. And for the price I paid I can insert a thousand of passwords but it has to be PERFECT!.
And Yes, I'm very disapponted by apple customer service because in the apple store in Rimini (italy) they treated me really bad. Like if I was crazy or visionary and this is not fair.

I don't know where you live, but here all the apple stores were not able to show the products during covid lockdown. I was lucky that in the megastore there was not this limitation so i was able to test the 4 units in the shop really accurately, as i wrote before without reproducing the problem

Since all phones ive seen and my friends have this issue that comes and goes the probability of getting another one if its hardware is high. I just don't have time to cherry pick apple phones and restore everything. I can live with it and will trade this in for the next model in 10 months or so. And yes I feel they will give me a hard time anyway. Apple just released 14.4. release candidate today im installing. I doubt it will fix any issues but we ill see. Good luck.

This is what I'm also afraid of. If its a hardware issue, which I still don't think it is, based on simple math most of them have the issue it seems. Hopefully Zio hit the jackpot but we will need more time to tell.

well, it really your word against mine. You are saying that all the models have this problem, I am saying the exact contrary! I have seen this problem only on my phone. On the biggest italian forum there are almost 15 person which have this problem. you have an idea of how many phones apple has sold? Nobody has this problem. here, how many from all over the wod are we to have this problem? maybe 30? by making a nit precise count, talking about math, could it be the 0,01% of the phones sold? You think that apple will be caring of such a few persons? They are happy with people that "settle down" waiting for the update. If everyone goes and claims for a swap unit they will begin to reconsider it as a problem. Anyway, really, for now it's not my problem anymore for now. So you can act as you think it's better. But I think much more I won the lottery by picking a faulty one and being among the 0,1% of the people who have this problem. I don't know exactly which problem you have, but a problem such the one I had in my previous model was really affecting the reliability of the phone, so we would not have had all the enthusiastic reviews we have on the iphone 12 family. So try to look beyond and ask for a replace unit. That's my suggestion. It solved my problem. If you're stuck on software problem and it's ok for you, than it's ok for everybody! :) I'm happy I had the will to go on with a new model. Good luck to you!!

What im saying is all of the phones I and my friends have had have this issue. Id say at least 5. Based on simple math and probability it would seem many have this issue and id most likely get another one so its not worthy he time and trouble for me at this point.

ok, I am still writing here, but I should not do it anymore... You stay with your convinction I don'really care! You still have the problem, not me. I'm not gaining anything by suggesting you to ask for a replacement! So please go on your way if you think it's right for you that's ok! I hope my experience will be useful to some others. It only puzzels me on how people goes against their own interest just because they think to have the rights without considering other people's stories or cases. It's crazy!! But it's ok! it's not my money, it's yours. It's not my phone, it's yours! If you're happy with a 1400 € buggy phone than it's ok!! but please you are saying the the 5 units you saw woth stutter problems are "The absolut truth" and I am saying the exact contrary. With 6 unit i saw, only mine has the problem. Is your truth right or mine? And were does your truth leads to? Waiting for apple to release a fix?? well, GOOD LUCK! :)

Lets just sit back and let people do what they want to do. You and I have had different experiences. So people need to take it with a grain of salt and do what makes them feel happy. :). I'll post how 14.4 works out but I'm not holding my breath as this issue is not a priority for apple obviously.

I know that but there are some that swear it is lol. ive been supporting hw and software fro years.
me too. My company builds some machine starting from hardware to software and i've seen anything, including (maybe for you hard to accept) FAULTY UNITS! :)
Yes, sometimes a producer as apple has FAULTY UNITS! It's been so since electronics devices exists! I swear i got iphone since 3gs. I never had the need to write on a forum for a problem on an apple phone unitl now. But if this forum (together with many others) exists is because someone is always unlucky to pick up a faulty unit....! Anyway I am very annoyed of replying to a wall. You got your conviction, good for you! Enjoy your expensive buggy phone :)

yes, as i told you I will write only if I will have the problem again. for now, for me it's solved and I'm really happy. Have a nice day!

Im used to it. Ive had 100s of phones over the years. All have had some bugs. This one is actually pretty small compared to some. Only hardware issues were the iPhone 4 antennagate and a couple of phones that kept rebooting and shutting down due to bad hardware.

I’ll just wait a while longer when you eventually come back and say you’re experiencing the problem.

Folk on the 14.4 RC thread are saying this issue is fixed! I hope so.

I’ll jump on it right now to check. Either way it can take days sometimes to manifest again.

Edit: Okay, on 14.4. I'll report back first time I get the stutter.

Edit 2: At the risk of jinxing it, everything feels noticeably better around the animations and keyboards. I’ve been trying to load up the memory and no sign of anything close yet.

Edit 3: Subtle hints of stutter detected.

Final edit: Stutter is still here. Swiping home animation still broken by it. Bust.

Is there a subtle hints of stutter because you have opened a lot of APPs ? Is the keyboard an original? I think the problem is related to memory allocation. It itself has 6GB of RAM, but it can use 5/6. This is an unreasonable phenomenon. These are all my conjectures.

PS. I use the third party keyboard IACCES, after just not using it, it feels like there is no stutter, but I need more time to verify.
