Well for me a quick update. the stutter is gone again.
To reference back on the phone:
Bought it with a stutter from the box brand new 128 GB. Had silicone case on. took the case off and stutter was gone For months. Stutter came back not long ago. I think it was due to installing 5 or 6 new applications but then again you never know. I cleaned up the apps from the background use, rebooted the phone and the stutter was gone. It came back a day or two after but Now is gone for a few days again. Butter smooth.

So far I do hear good reviews on YouTube from 14.4 B2 And RC version.
So fingers crossed

Yikes. That’s bad.
I’m itching to get one, keep waiting for one but the phone is still smooth.

You can see how many posts are there about the lag on internet and apple be like: well you are the first one experiencing this problem. Maybe they just can't fix this so keep pretending nothing happened?

Btw the quality control of iPhone is getting lower and lower.

I wouldn’t necessarily say the quality of the actual hardware is getting lower and lower but without question the software is absolute crap. Barely any feature on the phone is completely reliable. I come across problems every single day and I’ve given up reporting them because Apple do sweet FA about them.

Yeah that why it was hard for me to be optimistic about this issue getting resolved as it’s been in ip11s as well. Although watching YouTube videos gave me hope.

as for my phone, go figure. Has the mind of its own.

I’ve been on 14.4 RC for 1 day and 7 hours now. By this time I’d have stutter every 3rd or 4th swipe. I’ve had a few stutters and a few broken swipes (end in multitasking view) but it definitely seems significantly better although not completely fixed.

don't worry, this is not hardware issue! I had iPhone XS Max and it had animation and scrolling stutter issue since iOS 12 to iOS 14.3. I sold it and bought iPhone 12 Pro Max just for fixing this issue. but my new iPhone suffeing with stutter too.

do you think it's a hardware issue? two devices with the same hardware issue? absolutely no.

let's see it from an other aspect. when you playing a videogame and you have fps drop, you think your hardwares have issue or the game is not optimized? definitely, it's software problem.

or, when you unistall your graphic driver on your PC, you will have lot's of stutters. is it hardware issue? no!

by considering lot's of hardware issue can be fixed by updates, but this is not hardware issue. so, we should wait untill fix. maybe in iOS 14 updates, iOS 15 or even iOS 16.

just reporting is our choice.

For me, the most weird thing about this issue is that my phone would automatically get very smooth every night at about 11pm, and get laggy when I woke up in the morning.

Quick update on 14.4 RC. I’ve now been up and running for 2 days and 5 hours and the stutter is back to like every 3rd swipe. No improvement over 14.3.

Hi guys and ladies! I just registered to this forum just because of this thread. Excuse me not having read all 26 pages of posts, so I don’t know if anyone has already posted it, but I’m 99% certain I have just found the reason for the stutter.
I once overread somewhere that force closing all apps fixes the issue temporarily. Well, today I noticed that the keyboard lags when typing a message in WhatsApp and receiving a notification for a different app at the same time. WhatsApp also doesn’t seem to be adapted to the iPhone 12s screen resolution.
Anyhow. I force closed WhatsApp and deactivated background refresh for the app. Boom, iPhone is snappier and the issue seems to be gone.
Hope it helps. Cannot tell if there’s different apps also causing the issue. And sorry if someone already posted that.

Tried force closing WhatsApp and turning off background refresh for it, but have still noticed a few stutters since :(

Hopefully everyone who is experiencing this is filing a bug report with Apple. I find it hard to believe they are not aware of it, but fixing it may not be a high priority unless they know how many are affected.

Damn... as long as I leave the app closed, it fixes it for me. Is there maybe another app that is not adapted to the iPhone 12? In WA you can notice that because the keyboard and all the other UI elements are ever so slightly bigger than in the rest of the OS (and less crisp on the screen)... I don’t know if *that* is WhatsApp’s issue, but since it worked perfectly on older iPhones, that’s the only thing I can think of. They seem to be using some old code or something; anyway, maybe there’s another app with the same issue that’s also causing that stutter.
Is the issue fixed for you if you terminate *all* open apps?

Hi guy, my phone also has this problem, so I asked my friends who use IP12PM 512G OS14.3, none of them have this problem,I don't know if there is a problem with the first batch of IP12PM purchase, or what, because they are not the first batch. But many people reported the same problem with the first batch of IP12PM purchase, so people began to wonder if it was a hardware problem. Because I also use IPXS Max, there was no such problem before, and it really happened when I switched on IP12PM. Although this is not a big problem, it is sometimes seen in operation..I feel a little uncomfortable.
