I'm talking compared to the MB, not other machines. My assumption was that this discussion was about the differentiation of the MB and MBP lines, not of the MBP versus "insert anything here."

I said higher res, not high-res, and matte coating. Those should have been taken as in comparison with MacBooks.

My bad for mis-reading 'higher'. However, you were not implying the MacBook Pro's were Pro's over the MacBook, you were implying they were Pro's because they are Pro machines. But if we go with what you meant to imply, that they are way ahead of the MacBook - yes.

Still, the quality build of the supposedly 'Pro' machines is dreadful. Yes, a small percentage will pickup flaws from the factory, but it took me 3 MacBook Pro's to get one that didn't have yellowing on the screen (which Apple said was within spec). Screw the contrast and viewing angle - if the screen has visible yellowing which will muck up calibration and that is said to be 'within spec' I can't call that a Pro display.

I made my stuff and I think it's a macbook pro :
Sorry I cant put them on macrumors.
Does anyone know how to send pictures made with paint:eek:

Just to say that in the macbook, there is 7 to 9 apple logos that fit
in the pro there is 9 to 11
and in the one on the invitation, there is 9to11

so i think its a pro but i cant show to you guys :(:(

I know this mockup is super ******, but what if the invite is the glass trackpad and the directions represents the keyboard? More than likely not but that would be a huge trackpad.

Mac noob asking about when to buy

So I've been waiting to buy the new MacBook and I'm elated that this might actually happen in less than 1 week. I have set up a personal shopper appt first thing in the morning for the 14th so that I can be one of the first to get my hands on one.

My question is, if the announcement isn't until 10am Pacific time, my time, will the machine be released for sale at 8 am, the time of my appt?

I understand that these are, in fact, all rumors and any answer I receive is speculation. But, as a long time PC user, I haven't watched how these releases work. If the announcements of past updates were made later in the day, were the products released earlier in the day or the following day?

When media events are held at Cupertino Town Hall, are there videos of it? Do we get a live feed on the Internet? A video posted to apple.com? Do we need to just keep refreshing the Apple Store between 10 and 11? I am so eager.

I think we just follow a live text feed. Probably one on here, Engadget, etc.

Apple should post the keynote on their website a few hours after the presentation.

The best website for live updates is Engadget - they'll be in the press audience, so photos and live feed. There is no live video feeds however.

So it is up to you whether you want to check the live news feeds, or just wait until the keynote is published by Apple and watch it spoiler free.

who is for the price drop? do i hear a "here here?!"

i am with whoever said the outer shell will be plastic and the inside part aluminum. but for the outside i want the glossy plastic on the back of the iphone! but all aluminum would be fine also!:D

Me. I need a price drop if I want a MBP - won't be able to afford one if they keep them at the same price so might have to go a high end MB

You won't get an aluminum MacBook at 8am. There is a chance that later in the day you could, but I doubt it. Sometimes Apple starts shipping the day of the announcement, other times we've had to wait a few weeks. One things for sure though, you won't get a "new" MacBook at 8am on the 14th.

If you noticed, the first picture is actually of a Macbook Pro.
NO.

It's neither, apparently.

So, seems that the general consensus is that the picture on the invite is a 13ish inch MacBook in aluminum...

...Which makes the height / width ratio a bit out in comparison with the current MacBook line. It seems to have lost almost 2cm off the height.

The ratio (around .665 width/height) is considerable less than the current MacBook (.698), or either the 15" or 17" MacBook Pros (.681 and .676 respectively).

Are Apple cutting out the iSight? Or have they built it into the screen itself, something they have been working on for a while now?

Only four days until we know for sure...
13" 16:10 » 14" 16:9 transition? Rumored and makes sense from the above picture too.

I think apples thinking is that the next mighty mouse wont have any buttons, but will have a pressure sensing touch surface
And multi-touch features.

imho the so called macbook Pro:rolleyes: is holding back the macbook

such a shame:(
Precisely. I've said this in other threads but I won't bother copy and pasting that here. I'll just say is that there are features that could easily go in the MacBooks (and the iBooks, like display spanning) that are not included because the MacBook Pro wasn't high-end enough.

When I first saw this picture I measured the ratio as well and came to the conclusion that it's too wide to be the current MacBook, but it's also too high to be 14" with the same bezel. There're three options I think: (1) it is just a MacBook-like picture, not to give away too much; (2) it's 16:10, but with smaller bezel; (3) 16:9 with more bezel (or top edge with iSight wider than sides - they're the same on all current laptops though, so it's unlikely).
