I don't think Apple should drop the "Pro" vs. "non pro" designation. The decision is more often than not crystal clear which one you need. Yes, of course people have trouble deciding (you read all about that on these forums) but most customers will know if they want the bigger screen and the dedicated graphics card.

Actually the logo looks big simply because its light is on at the maximum.
I can't believe some are thinking it's the new MB. Apple never shows its new products before the event... not even a glimpse of their product! So forget it. This is obviously the actual MBP. Also, I think the MB will be more curved on the hedges.

What do hedges have anything to do with it?! :p Ahh, just having a bit of fun... ;)

I just hope the Macbook Pro looks nice. I wouldnt mind the chicklet keys as long as they are metal like the current ones and not black plastic. I mean, even black metal would be okay in the chicklet form, as long as there is a black bezel to match. Otherwise, I dont like it.

Personally I'm not too fussed...they always have fantastic products (minus the Air and Apple TV) and I'm confident whatever they release, it will be 100x better than any other laptop on the market.

And you can bet your bottom that Dell and Asus will follow whatever design trend Apple introduce!

Heres what I think we will have

A set of 2 MacBooks (2 because, well theres not a huge difference between the base and mid-range one at the mo) then a set of MacBook Pros. The pros will have the option of a 13", 15" or 17" display. I doubt they would drop the "Pro" status...wouldn't be surprised if they change the name though...something with i in it though no doubt.

Glass / Reflective surround and screen, aluminum casing, plastic back-lit keys etc.

I'm pretty sure the current MBP keys are painted plastic. Regardless, the new MBP keyboard will have the aluminum gray look. At least that is what I think since Apple needs the pro to look more pro.

Apple should drop the Pro and just have

Macbook 13/15/17

imho pro is silly because there is nothing PRO about it:p

Dedicated graphics?

I'd never use a MacBook for what I do, simply because of the integrated graphics.

The design and materials are Pro as well, quality screens, ya know.

Also, the names aren't going to change back to how they were. The iBook is dead, the PowerBook is dead.

Oh Yes But did i also mention that my very cousin thats getting married works for Apple in the accounting/finance department and will be getting a 15% Corporate thingy discount for me; so heres how ive budgeted:

Top Notch Apple Macbook Should be around $1400 with these price cuts everyones talking about

15% of 1400 = 210

1400 - 210 = $1190

$1190 in £ = £691

They only cost £700 with HE discount, plus you'd have to ditch the packaging on the way home or face the customs tax. Depends how bad you want to save a few quid.

Kilamite: Yea, higher-res, non-glossy.

You think 1440x900 on a 15" panel is high res? Are you not familiar with all the yellowing issues people had with the Santa Rosa MacBook Pro's?

I don't see anything 'Pro' about the MBP screens. General Samsung and LG displays. I'd be open for someone to point out I'm wrong, but I can't see anything in the technical specs that make the screens any better.

There is more to consider rather than size and resolution. There is also contrast ratio and viewing angle.

I'm talking compared to the MB, not other machines. My assumption was that this discussion was about the differentiation of the MB and MBP lines, not of the MBP versus "insert anything here."

I said higher res, not high-res, and matte coating. Those should have been taken as in comparison with MacBooks.

Your reply reeks of misunderstanding. Nowhere did I scream in a high-pitched voice "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? HAVE YOU SEEN HOW HIGH RES THE SCREENS ARE ON THE MBPs?!? THEY'RE AMAZAZING! AND BETTER THAN ANYTHING IVE EVER SEEN"

False. I ordered my sister a Dell when she went to college. It's also 15.4" and is 1920x1200 so, no, the MBP screens aren't where they should be. But compared to the MB, they're BETTER. And that was the exact point I was aiming to establish.
