My iPhone came on 10th of December. I usually charge it 50% with (18W) wired charger that came with iPhone 11 pro and 50% with MagSafe. Mostly respect 30-80% rule. Was lucky to get bigger battery capacity and it still keeps going like this.

My launch day 13 Pro just dropped down to 99% battery health this week. I do mostly wireless charging. Only time I charge via cable is in the car.

I've just ordered the MagSafe Charger.
I'm going to switch from my 8 Plus to the 13 Pro Max on Friday or Saturday (gonna transfer all my data, I wanna do it in peace :D)
For the first charge, should I just use my as it came (pre-charged) phone or fully charge it before the first use?
If I charge overnight, is there a difference if I use MagSafe or the standard 5w Charger? :D

As for first charge, it won’t really matter, you can just use it or fully charge it. It’s up to you. There’s no harm.

As for charging overnight, when using MagSafe, just be warned that it creates heat when you charge, which isn’t great for the battery. With the standard 5w charger, it likely will generate heat but not as bad inductive charging via MagSafe.

So some people say MagSafe does spare the the battery, others say it doesn't... :D
In my understanding charging with 5w is the slowest but best solution in order to keep the battery in good condition as long as possible?

With 5w and charging only between 30-80% is probably the best? I don't think that I will always restrict myself that much :D

Bizarrely enough battery life is back to being impressive.. 40% after 3 days !

The last os update obviously did some good !

Someone previously in this thread suggested 5w is so slow it puts more wear on the battery due to the time it takes. Don’t know how accurate that is, but they made a good argument.

Personally, as I’ve previously said in here, 12w iPad charger is the sweet spot for me. Not slow, not fast, doesn’t get hot.

I’ve charged the 13PM with the 5w once or twice from about 40% and it does indeed take FOREVER!

It kinda makes sense... I’ve also had such thought on my mind before.
Anyways I’m going to switch to the 13 Pro Max today. I guess I’ll fully charge it via MagSafe For the first time then use it and usually charge it via MagSafe.

I just dropped to 99% after a couple of months which in the grand scheme of things isn't anything but only thing I've done is change to an Anker 20-W charger, maybe I should go back to the brick too.

My launch day 13 Pro Max battery health is still pretty much the same 5 months later. It has been very consistent so far. I am still using a HomeKit smart plug, a 12-watt changer and stick to the 80/20 rule for charging.

I don't do any of that and my 13 Pro is still the same as it was on launch day with similar number of cycles. I charge overnight with MagSafe with 20W, USB-C to my MBP, 96W adapter of MBP and only used 5W charger when I didn't have a choice. Don't follow any 80/20 rule either.
Don't see a point in having to purchase an extra smart plug just for that as it doesn't seem to make any diff.

It's great that you have such good battery health. So many different ways to charge. Up to each person to decide on how they want to charge. It's great that your way works best for you.

Interesting ... well I think the battery of my iPhone 8 Plus started to degenerate just two months after I start using it.
First 10 percents dropped real fast.
Now health is at 82% since several months.

Btw as I’m cleaning my storage, I found a thing called “iCloud Drive” it occupies almost 11GB of storage on my device!
What in the world is that?

“The Original files remain safely in iCloud”
My iCloud occupies 1.3GB out of 5GB I don’t have any subscription...
I really wonder what are these 11GB of files?! They are definitely NOT stored on iCloud.

Also when I check the iCloud Drive thing in the Files App, it shows me files of a total amount of around 600MB and not 11GB...

Is it safe to delete the iCloud Drive stuff and how do I do that anyway?

Settings-><Your Apple ID>->iCloud->iCloud Drive. iCloud Drive is enabled by default and is part of the iCloud storage you have.

My iPhone 8 Plus was at 89% after just over 2 years use but my iPhone 12 is shockingly bad in comparison. 86% now and 16 months old. I’ve lost 3% since the start of the year.
