My 13 retina 2.5GHZ is getting very warm doing just about nothing. It's past the Spotlight thing.

But then again, it's too new to make a call. Are there any apps that can control the fan to test this, that are compatible with the Mountain lion?

Got any games to test out?

Also in terms of screen real estate, is it as good as the 13" MBA? I don't want the Hi DPI native as that's less space, are the scaled options good?

And thanks for being helpful!

I don't have any games installed yet. I'll be downloading and installing some in the coming days.

As far as real estate, the standard (out of box) settings is less real estate than the Air (1280x800 vs 1440x900). The "higher" setting is equivalent for real estate (both 1440x900) and the "highest" is more real estate (1680x1050 vs 1440x900). The "highest" setting on the 13"Retina is one stop lower than the highest stop on the 15" Retina.

Looks great! I saw one in the flesh today at the Apple store. Buying one tomorrow when I get to work. Damn IPS displays are amazing!

looks beautifully clear and crisp on my 17" mbp thank you! great work!

I want to know how do you have money for both 13 inch rMBP and 15 inch rMBP :D

a steady good job is a start. or credit card payments.

1. Does it stay cool and quiet like the 15" rMBP?

2. How well does the display render red/orange gradients? Similar to the 15" rMBP? This is my personal go-to picture to test red-fidelity: http://wallpaperswide.com/petals-wallpapers.html
That picture looks simply bland on the MBA display,
and extremely vibrant on Apple's better screens, like the iPhone 5.

3. You wouldn't happen to have a 13" cMBP to compare it to with some pictures?

I'd love know how it compares in speed against the latest Air, if you have access.

A simple ioreg command with no parameters. Then copy the panel info section here (the old ioreg command with sed won't work).

thats simple to answer

you go here http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html

and put the cpus you want:

MBA 11 - i5 3317u and i7 3667u
MBA 13 - i5 3427u and i7 3667u
RMBP 13 - i5 3210m and i73520m
RMBP 15 - i7 3615qm and i7 3720qm and i7 3820qm

the performance of the i7 3667u against the i5 3210m is very minimal
but the base frequency for the IGP is almost double, 350mhz vs 650. Should be a decent boost in games.

edit: sorry I was referring to MBA vs rMBP
