I don’t expect a price hike. I do think Apple will apply current foreign exchange rate, Similar to what they did to iPhone.

In other words, happy US customers, not so much for those abroad.

Price hike in the EU.
As an European, I think I'll hold onto my M1 Pro until end of life.
As a regular person, I hold on to my 2013 MBP until it’s no longer supported. So maybe MacBook Air M2 whenever it comes out. 10 years of not upgrading makes it easy to afford next year’s model

But what if it’s announced tomorrow…lol
Apple likes to do product release announcements on a Monday.

So, if we consider that the rumors of them waiting until November are true (and I think it's logical to give a few weeks spacing between the iPad announcements and MacBook Pro refresh), then I expect the refreshed MBPs to be announced either on November 7th or at latest on November 14th. The 21st is too close to the Thanksgiving holiday in the US, which would result in less press coverage that week.

My base 16" is basically brand new. I used it a few months until I got the Mac Studio Ultra; I've only used it for travel a few times. I should probably sell it since I never use it.

Well here's hoping they debut soon. Dropped my 16" MacBook Pro tonight and it cracked the screen. Trying to do work through the spiderwebs is incredibly annoying.

Hope the 2021 M1 Pro 14" in the refurb store stays in stock, since that'll see a price cut once new models come out. Ready to downsize my laptop as the 16" is a little unwieldy to use. Excited for a laptop that doesn't burn at 1000 degrees and lasts longer when only browsing the web too.

Another example is M1 iMac. Check the ship dates with a standard configuration, then try simply changing the keyboard. A change in the packed-in keyboard takes +2 weeks to deliver? I don't think the guys at the factory are that inefficient.
I just looked at the Mac Studio. If I change one thing for the config, shipment changes from tomorrow to the end of the month. Same goes for the M2 MacBook Air. I chose 90210 as the zip code.

It's the same delay as if you change the keyboard for the M1 Pro MacBook Pro give or take 1-2 days.

Yes, there is clearly something happening at Pegatron and Quanta. Even the Intel Mac mini is Oct. 26-28. And the standard base model Mac Pro, which we all know is assembled in the U.S. for domestic customers, has an 8-10 day delivery time with no option for Express Delivery. That means it's coming from China. A brown banana like that should have Express Delivery options from the U.S. distribution center. To me, that suggests the EMS companies have shifted big time to assembling other Mac products.

Personally I think you’re reading too much into it. ~2 week delays for BTO was not uncommon months ago too.

While I think it could be true something may be coming in November, I don’t think the reasoning you’ve provided is good evidence for that.

When to expect it? The answer is now.

Look at the delivery date for a custom 14-inch MBP. You don't get these sudden delays in delivery times unless the factory in Shanghai is building up inventory of new models.

For a long time, you were arguing that Apple would release new Apple Silicon every 18 - 24 months. M1 Max to M2 Max will only take roughly 12 months. Are you convinced now that Apple has always planned to release a new Apple Silicon yearly?

Expecting a very minor update real soon.
it seems to me that m2 pro and m2 max will not be released until next year, otherwise apple would show them now and introduce new computers for sale next month, as macbook air did this year, premiere in June and sales started a month later

After the M1 was announced 11/10/2020, and it took until 10/18/2021 for the M1Pro/Max MBPs to be announced, So If WWDC 2022 brought the M2, we might see the M2 Pro/Max appear mid 2023 probably.

iPads and MacBooks don’t need to be updated every year, I hope they can keep with the 1.5 years cycle or longer, waste of time for 20% gain performance
I disagree. 20% is quite significant. Plus there usually are other non-dramatic upgrades and evolving code. Not a waste of time at all.

You guys know what else is funny, years ago Steve jobs came back to apple and removed a confusing line up like this to simply the product line now apple is is repeating the same mistake again, will there be another Steve jobs to come fix this m?
Apple is making great products and oodles of money and does not need fixing.

I almost said Apple wouldn’t do that, but then I remembered how they screwed me on the Intel 2020 MacBook Air and then released the M1 version (what feels to me like) the next day.

People have replied to comments I’ve made like that to say that the M1 was rumored and I should have known better. But the M1 rumors started right after it was released (and of course like a sucker I bought it as soon as I read the press release (which should have been a clue, I now realize.)) Trust me, I was paying attention.

So that turned into a rant but yeah at this point they just might.
Easy. Just get over it. Tech will keep improving. And if it bothers you, new products are not that hard to anticipate.

Will it come with a Gen 1 Apple Pencil and an adaptor? Asking for a friend. Oh and can we have 17 models with confusingly similar features ensuring that even the mid-priced models feature some older technologies so we'll want to buy another one in a year's time? Thanks!

It’s pretty sad if the first-ever update to the pro chips isn’t significant enough to warrant an event. And what about the Mac Pro?

I think an event is worth it if there is an important design change or something like that... to say that it is a new chip with better performance is not necessary. With a video, you can explain it perfectly... even the "Events" now are also videos so are "fake events". For me is the same as publishing a video.

Actually yeah, Apple’s whole thing is to try and make products hard to anticipate. Not sure where you’re getting that. It’s a known thing that Apple likes to spring new versions on people, preferably completely by surprise but at least with a few surprises. Obviously it’s going to keep improving as a whole. But some years for Apple are a step back. Like this year.

Rationalize all you want, there was no reason to release an Intel MBA in March and its total replacement in October. If it was just a spec bump that one be one thing. But nobody even remembers there was a 2020 Intel MacBook Air. Everyone refers to the 2020MBA as if there was only one.
