Apple has no choice but release their entire line of Macs with Apple silicon this year. The current M1 line has been so successful that hardly anyone is even remotely interested in buying Intel Macs right now.
I think the only people that are buying those Intel Macs are those buying it on accident or/and are not that big of techies to know about M1 vs Intel

Yes, remove the stupid touch bar and bring back the mag safe. I upgraded last year as I needed a new faster laptop, but I did so very reluctantly. I knew I would miss the mag safe and be annoyed with the touchbar, which both came true. So annoying the thought the touch bar, with no tactile response would be a good idea. I mean, how many people actually look at their keyboards when typing? Now with the touch bar, you have to look for the volume up and down, because you can't feel it as physical keys.

2 Things.

1. If you want a magnetic connector, just buy a USB-C one, there are plenty. Personally I don't ever want to use one again, I find it an annoyance, but if you miss it, just buy one?
2. How are you touching the volume function keys without looking where they are anymore than you're reaching a slider? BOTH require just a glance. The slider is a much better way to adjust volume and brightness in my opinion, typing a button which only gives you a few steps of accuracy is not. It'd be nice a small touch bar was kept for volume and brightness at the very least.

Cook mentioned the awful reception (I think it was close to his words) the 2016 generation got because they observed a significant uptick in the sells of the previous gen. Being Apple they were not gonna make a re-design and re-tool after a couple of years because of that but the revert back to the old style might be contemplated from a long time.
That's interesting - didn't know Cook had acknowledged the poor reception of the 2016 generation. I was one of the 'uptick' sales of the 2015 model, and I know of others. Haven't seen any reason to upgrade until now.

They've fixed the keyboard. If they could fix Magsafe and the I/O ports that would be great. A cheaper 'no touchbar' option even better. Finally, please halve the RAM / SSD upgrade option prices.

With an edge-to-edge 14 inch screen and the performance of an M1+ chip these things will fly off the shelves!

Dis-likes: Magsafe (unless we can still use USB-C), legacy ports, no Touch Bar

For over 5 years Apple has been pushing us to go USB-C, going back to legacy ports is a step backwards and does not make sense from a technology perspective. Though I have a gut feeling it might have to do with royalties for TB and Apple Silicon ...
Magsafe was nice, but proprietary, again, a tip backwards
I for one like Touchbar, and I really want to see Apple furthering how we use computers, Siri doesn't cut it, Touch Bar has some nifty use cases that could be further developed, would love to see a keyboard offered with Touch Bar

Totally agree with you - as usual most people on this forum are a shambles.

Never used the Touch Bar much before the pandemic because I was always in clamshell mode. Now that I need my webcam all the time, I use it more.

Gotta say, though, Apple wasted an opportunity by not putting a system extension that made it say, "MAKE SOME NOISE!"

Do not take the touch bar away. It is actually very convenient. I just got a new MBP and love it!
I agree. It’s not like I can’t live without it, but like you said it’s just quite convenient (like 3D Touch!). I like it a lot for adjusting volume/brightness, for fast forwarding through video (life hack: on some services that has forced advertising you can actually FF through the ads with the Touch Bar), and since I use a lot of emojis I love that I can type “dog” and then immediately get the dog emoji right in the Touch Bar.

I guess I'm okay with MagSafe coming back as long as you can still charge via USB C. Right now my setup is great because I can charge and get external display, multiple usb a's, ethernet, sd card reader, etc. all with just ONE cable. If they bring MagSafe back and its sole purpose is to charge and nothing else, and it's limited to just the left side, I would have to rethink my entire current setup which would be a huge bummer. Plus this would mean the return of multiple cables coming to my machine, instead of just one that does it all, that allows me to stow away my usb c dock out of sight.

This rumour says that the displays can be thinner due to micro led yet the new iPad Pro rumours suggest the display will be slightly thicker to accommodate the mini leds. So which one is it? Do min LEDs make displays thicker or thinner?

Wonder if someone is going to ask them why they reintroduced a "relic from the mainframe era" or whatever ridiculous statement they gave to justify removing the F-keys

Same!!
It's a faster way to interact with specific options.
I like it a lot. It just takes a while to get used to it before you can find it faster than what you were used to, but then you realize how truly handy it is.

For me the Touch Bar is great for the professional apps I use and less great for simple everyday computer use. For example I love it in photoshop, auto cad and vectorworks but not so much for turning up and down volume, brightness etc...

I hope Apple puts in one USB-A port. There are a gazzilion USB devices and memory sticks out there that will last for decades. I still use my 15 year old USB-A memory stick. Having to use dongles for something simple like this is not thoughtful.
Exactly, needing to plug in a USB memory stick but "oh where's my adapter" is frustrating and not user-centric design. Just having one there to let you use the myriad devices, that you're going to still come across for a long time yet, without having to worry about a go-between is a massive usability improvement.

Regarding the case, I think it's a step back from the current casing, how do you easily pick it up if it's flat as in the picture.
The round edges on the current model is far better imho.

Well that is what was said about the old iPhones.
I remember very well people saying how much they loved the new (at the time) rounded iPhone edges as it made the phone much easier to pick up off the table.

Apple has of course in the new models gone back to the straight edge hard to pick up style again, and yet people now say they love thus design ;)

Given this I see no reason to suspect it would be any different for the laptop.
Once it's launched, people will buy it, and then say how much they love it.

That's until of course the next redesign when they go back to rounded, and they will love that again also ;)

I expect the little round feet will still be underneath to keep the bottom panel clear of any surface it's sitting on.
I don't think the round feet, by themselves, will raise the edge high enough to make it easily grabbable. According to my calipers, on my 2014 15" MBP, the feet raise the bottom by only 0.9 mm; by contrast, the rounded bottom provides an additional 4.5 mm. Though I don't know how different the measurements will be for the newer devices.

It is cheaper for Apple to stick with USB-C ports and have the customer that needs a USB_A connection to buy an adapter or hub. I don't see Apple reversing course in this regard for what is probably considered the minority in the the world.

Completely disagree... as you've said your technology is from 2005 so why should Apple use such outdated ports? Buy a new memory stick, you can buy a dual one on amazon for next to nothing.
