This is what I wanted in July, had to settle for the 13". Will be tempted to upgrade.
More ports would be GREAT, what are the odds of it happening though?Something tells me that Apple is going to mess up on the build of this NEW 15" Macbook Air. They will either drop a useful feature or add something that just won't make any sense. Watch and see. Don't get your hopes up.

Which ports would you want, extra TB 4, or a variety? If the machine is a similar thickness to the 13.6" MBA I think that rules out USB A or HDMI. SD card slot should fit ok by the looks of it.More ports would be GREAT, what are the odds of it happening though?
If it is indeed an Air it probably would only have Magsafe and 2 USB-C to avoid overlap with the MBP’s features.Which ports would you want, extra TB 4, or a variety? No if it's anywhere close to Pro, I will continue to pass. The whole reason I'm hoping for a bigger screen Air is to keep the price down. If I could actually afford it, I'd just get the Pro if the Air is barely cheaper. If anything they cannabalize their new product then, or some people still buy nothing.I think it will approach the price of the 16" mbp and Apple will have a way to justify it, somehow. It will be lost revenue for those buyers no longer buying the pro for the screen size, and everyone else that are realizing they don't need a pro after all. They will price it at an acceptable range assuming it becomes a flagship model. Similar price point to the current 16" mbp. And people will pay that price in droves. This is the 2017 16" mbp intel model thinness but without the heat.
$150 or $200 more than the equivalent 13" Air.How will they price this though I wonder. 1599?
That range I might consider it.$150 or $200 more than the equivalent 13" Air.
Upgrading to the 16" MBP screen is $200. It might be a little less than that because it isn't an expensive Mini-LED screen. That range I might consider it.

In the US the 16" is $200USD more than the equivalent 14".200? 14 Inch to 16 inch for example is £500 difference. I expect air to be similar cost difference. Maybe 350-400 if we are lucky
That £500 difference is because the base 14” MBP has a SOC with a lot fewer CPU and GPU cores. If you chose 14 and 16 with matching cores and matching RAM/SSD then the price difference is $200 (or whatever the equivalent is in pounds). The only difference in those configurations is the screen and case size. This gives a reasonable estimate of what the price difference would be between a 13” MBA and a 15” MBA all other things being equal.200? 14 Inch to 16 inch for example is £500 difference. Nobody, I do expect it to increase but there are still going to be plenty of M1 14” MBP’s around even when the M2 version is launched.Who said the 14” will remain at today’s price/
Agreed. They should really simplify the lineup. ‘Air’ made sense back in 2008 when notebooks were big and bulky. Now even PC notebooks are all relatively light and sleek because of SSDs.Why is it still called a MacBook Air? There’s a ‘Pro’ model and without the standard MacBook model it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense these days.
But Iphones cap at like $1100 with crazy trade in deals. They aren't $2500+ with you on the hook for the entire installment planNobody, I do expect it to increase but there are still going to be plenty of M1 14” MBP’s around even when the M2 version is launched.
On top of this we really don’t know what sort of starting price this 15” MBA is going to start at it could be $1599 or even $1699 starting price for all we know, in which case my point would still apply.
One thing is for sure this is going to have the same effect as the iPhone 14 Plus has had on the iPhone line up which has encouraged many to simply go for the Pro as it’s a far better deal and apple will simply take advantage of that by pricing it extremely close to the 14” MBP.
To add to this…
I expect if the M2 Pros get a hike in early 2023 maybe starting at $2199 I fully expect the 15” Air to probably start at $1699, however if the pros stay the same pricing I think it’s a safe bet the 15” air will be $1499 starting roughly…
This! I had been sorely tempted to buy one of those on eBay at times because they’re cheap now, and I loved how sleek and light they were. Then I remembered the brief period when I had one and how ****** it was lol. Battery life was horrendous and fans were like a jet engine 😖FINALLY a 15” MBA rumor!!!
Yes it will be more expensive - don’t care
No it won’t have every port and display feature as the Pros - don’t care
Just please bring the awesome 15” MBP 2016-2019 size back without a ****** keyboard and terrible battery life. That is all I want.
That's really too expensive for what they're trying to do with this machine. Ideally they want the "Price of Admission" to be as close as possible to the $1,000 to $1,300 sweet spot that the other Airs and 13" Pro occupy, otherwise they're still losing out on a lot of more price sensitive customers who wouldn't consider a 16" but might be tempted by this. I'd imagine the number of potential customers tapers off precipitously the closer you get to that psychological $2,000 mark. I think it was Max Tech who did a poll and found only about 4% of their viewers (i.e. techy people) who would consider buying a computer at the price point of the 14/16" machines.Nobody, I do expect it to increase but there are still going to be plenty of M1 14” MBP’s around even when the M2 version is launched.

Exactly as long as a 16" screen is locked behind high specs and pricing, I'm not buying it. And if they try to pull the bridge pricing BS, I'm not buying that either. It's not like a phone where you can get crazy trade in deads, and the price is 2.5 cheaper than a MBP16.That's really too expensive for what they're trying to do with this machine. Base 256/8/8 configuration should be $1,399 max.
Mid 512/8/10 configuration $1,699.
Top 512/16/10 configuration $1,899.
That leaves the similarly equipped 512/16GB machine $100 off the 14" Pro, so might get some looking at that model, but crucially keeps the entry point within the most mass market reach it can be to maximise sales. Most people comfortable spending $1,899 probably won't mind spending $2,499 for the 16", so it's at the lower end this machine becomes viable in terms of sales.
In the US the 16" is $200USD more than the equivalent 14".
Why not both?I know this is a popular thought going larger, but I actually wish for Apple to go smaller such as a 11.5" or 12" MBA that was ultra compact for travel/on the go.
This with a 11” and 18” would be a killer lineup. The only thing is, while an 18” Pro would probably fill the majority of my needs for a desktop, the price tag would probably be at least double what I can get a decently spec’d iMac for. What they need to do is kill the 13" MBP and eventually the M1 MBA. Without them, and with this, the line basically mirrors what we had with iBooks/Powerbooks years ago, which is pretty easy to understand and gives appropriate steps up:
Pro:
14" MBP
16" MBP
Consumer:
13" MBA
15" MBA
I'd bet there's probably markets for an 18" MBP if that ever got added that could represent a heavy top-of-the-line model and an 11" MBA more in the style of the old 2016 MB for the very very light travel machine![]()
