I've been reading rumors about this alleged 15" MBA since I was a young lad in college. That was well over 10 years ago. Every year, the same rumor over and over and over again.

I would love a 15" MBA, but I'm not holding my breath for it.

Definitely looking forward to this. It will hopefully fill the gap of what is missing — a perfect blend of the 16 inch MBP’s screen real estate and battery life but also much lighter and more portable. I want to like the device so badly, but the 14 inch battery life is just not good enough.

The lineup is getting so terribly complicated.

Apple should only offer 2 laptop sizes: 14 and 16, each of them with variants:
- M2 chip -> Air chassis, light and fanless
- M2 Pro/Max chips -> pro chassis, bulkier
- miniled with promotion should be a custom option for any of them

Then anyone could simply configure the laptop exactly as they wanted to and the lineup would be so simple.
Hopefully with this one they'll cut some fat.

Here's a comparison in screen size between the current 13" Macbook Air and the rumored 15" model.

I'll be a happy camper if this is true! 😎

I feel like such a crass consumer but there is a good chance I will give my 13in M2 MBA to a family member and buy this for myself if it comes out. 🤦‍♂️

Sounds great. It' a buy for me if it has an SD Card slot. I use that with a slim microSD card adapter to hold a 256GB mSD card used for hourly backups of critical documents so if my MBP dies I can immediately get a new one or even a PC and continue with projects; without needing access to my cloud backups.

Yes, I am a backup overkill person.
Have you seen the Transend JetDrive? It fits flush with the case, nothing sticking out… a bit slow, unfortunately, but having around-the-clock backups is indeed a godsend, best Macbook accessory ever.

I thought I wanted a 15 inch MBA, but after the M2 redesign with a slight screen increase, I'm very happy with the size and portability of the 14 inch MBA. It's great Apple is providing more options to consumers though, so they don't have to spring for the MBP to get a bigger screen.

So not a MacBook Pro, but not a MacBook Air either. Perhaps this is the return of the MacBook?

But given that MacBooks were positioned lower than the MacBook Air, perhaps this could be the MacBook Air Pro or the MacBook Air Max. Definitely looking forward to hearing this product's name at the unveiling!

will be great in the line up but will solely be there as a decoy product to encourage an upgrade to the MBP 14”, similar to how the iPhone 14 Plus has been placed in the line up.

This is quite obviously going to be priced at about $1499 with the base single memory chip, which will cost another $200 to upgrade to have the faster SSD, so $1699, then if you need more ram your looking at $1899, or $100 less than a more powerful MBP with miniLED, better speakers, promotion etc…

So it’s either go with a heavily gimped MBA 15” $1499 or a decent spec’d base MBP 14” at $1999, at that point it’s quite clear the majority will opt for the 14” MBP.

I thought 15 inch MBA sounded a bit out there until I remembered OH YEAH, I HAVE OLD MAN EYES

100% it’s the same with the headset, rumoured in 2018 for 2019 release, then rumoured for late 2019 then early 2020, then late 2021, then it was January 2022, now it’s looking like mid 2022, at some point we have to accept it’s not coming, similar to the TV set apple were supposedly developing 6 years ago…

The problem with the current 16” MBPs is that they are heavy as a brick. A 15” MBA could give you the screen real estate with lower weight and a more sleek design. I certainly would take that over the current MBP offer.

A 15-inch MacBook Air seems like one of those things everyone's wanted for years yet Apple continually refuses to do. I really want to believe this rumor, but I've been burned too many times 🙃

Whats up with Apple and giving us more models? We need less laptops, not more. The laptop line is so cluttered right now.
Why shouldn’t there be a consumer model in a larger size? Why should a 15” screen be available only to professional users?

The so-called “clutter” exists from apple offering older models at lower prices. Again, why shouldn’t apple keep perfectly good laptops available at lower prices for those who want them? It’s smart to expand their market.

My finger will be poised over the order button.

I love my 16" MacBook Pro, but I only bought it for the display size as it is my main WFH Mac - and working all day on a smaller display would not be great (without having to be tethered to a desk/display).

I don't need the CPU or GPU power of the pro line, or the thickness, weight and so on, so a 15" M2 thin and light Air would be a perfect replacement. Hopefully the battery will be huge in the larger chassis giving unprecedented battery life.

I will miss the miniLED display, and I don't think there will be any OLED or similar display upgrades in the 15" Air as that will sway many would be 16" MacBook Pro users (who also don't need that kind of power), to the 15" Air.
