Interesting only about 1mm of titanium as a shell. The aluminum is not just the interior but bound as a sandwich around the entire frame.

I put my new 15 pro in a quad case and the back broke without major inpact. I would not even discovered it. A friend was asking me to show him the titanium frame.

Then there is the forum user here where the back glass broke on a three foot fall. That back glass is fragile and when members here have failures within days of getting the phone - well then, I’d say it is something to be concerned about. Fortunately the fix is easy and you can even keep your phone…

People that fall for this crap are the dumb ones, this crap isn't scientific and is done for clicks. Apple is one company that for whatever reason people want to target and try to do gotcha games with.

Spare us the self righteous lectures JuicyGoomba, companies exist to make money. I trust Apple a heck of a lot more than others. At least they make noble efforts to protect user privacy, and stand up against the government. Not to mention though I'm not a greenie I do appreciate their effort to care about the impact they as a company make on the world. Although I think their skit during the keynote was absolute cringe virtue signaling, especially with regards to their new anti-leather stance.

lol. Apple will say anything to make money. Saw their latest ad that says "from the edge of the universe to the palm of your hand?"

Zack tested the regular 15s and they all survived the bend test. This seems mostly a Pro Max problem.

I didn’t know about the secret hologram on every box to prove it is genuine Apple - Cool!

JerryRigsEverything has posted a video that’s worth a watch if you are trying to decide between the Pro and Pro Max. It seems that the Pro Max back glass breaks pretty easily if the phone is flexed.

He also confirms that the PVD coatings are easily scratched.

So that’s made my mind up: a natural 15 Pro for me.

When looking for reasons not to do something (like buy a phone), you will find them.

It's an ad, other companies make ads too. The whole point of ads is to generate an emotional response from consumers that results in a purchase. Do you get this triggered by other companies making ads?

This person claims it was broken in transit. It looks like the crack started between the titanium edge and the glass. Regardless how it happened that is a pressure point where it cracked. Not a lot of residual damage as in scrapes and dents as I can see - to the op’s version of events…

There is also another photo from another person half way down. It starts between the frame and glass and spiders out from there.

The way the glass edge is chipped and "dusty" is classic impact/drop damage, not just a "pressure point." See the cracks on the top of phone...how they are translucent and go all the way to the edge cleanly? That's how it would look all the way across if it was a pressure crack. Dude is full of crap.

"Claims..."

A lot of people can claim things, this crap happens every launch. It's repeatable every year, Apple releases a new iPhone and all the attacks start. I'm not sure if these are competitor payed people, or just anti-Apple shills.

So much of that stuff can be faked now. I'm not going off of people's claims, especially from Reddit.

I'll go off my personal experience. Being an IT Cell Phone Manager and developer that has had every iPhone and also usually has a Pixel, and Samsung phone I can count on 1 hand the number of issues I've had from launches.

1- picked up my phone in store and during setup we discovered a cracked screen, Apple instantly replaced it.

On the flip side, crap does get damaged in transit, it happens all the time, I worked in shipping in highschool and college. It's really nothing to make a fuss about, warranty claim your device and move on with your new one.

It doesn’t matter what they claim. I’m not judging them, only showing how the back gets damaged. I have a 14PM and compared to the 15PM the earlier phones are indestructible! This has to be a design failure…

Yeah because Apple has billions into R&D, materials development and design and they just released a product without testing....

Again these tests are about as dumb as running my car at 40 km/h into a bollard and then fussing at VW because the body got damaged.

It doesn't have to be a design failure, it could be all sorts of other explanations, especially when you're making judgements based off of reddit "claims" and a dude that makes videos for clicks.

Then why wasn’t the 14PM affected?

It’s certainly a concern. I alternate cases on my 13 Pro Max and one of them is the Morpheus Labs bike case & it’s certainly not the easiest case to insert/remove the phone. How would the 15 Pro Max stand up to this on a regular basis?

Why even with the glass backs? The vast majority of people (including me) put them in a case, so why add fragility to a device type already plagued with a reputation for being easily-damaged? My iPhone 11 was the best-made phone I've ever had and put up with a lot and looks brand new still (ensconced in a case and screen protector for 3+ years).

Different materials, and different construction. Again though, when you're deliberately trying to break a phone it's going to break. That doesn't mean the average user is going to have an issue with normal use.

Hell who knows maybe he did some crap off camera just to drive clicks. Did you stop and think about that? It's absolutely possible, good YouTubers can seamlessly splice video together.

So far I've dropped my 15 Pro Max twice and it's still pristine. But I keep it in a case, like mose people should with a $1200 or more pocket computer.

Just silly. Established youTubers have reputations to maintain. A phone breaking does not necessarily get more clicks than one that withstands all tests.

It's just an excuse for people to ignore information they don't like. Can make the same argument for all news media.

Wireless charging.

How is it plagued with a reputation for being easily damaged?

I've have every iPhone and I'm very outdoorsy, and I've only ever broken 2 phones. One I put in top of my car while loading it, and took off, it fell off the roof of my car and got ran over several times. It still actually worked, it connected to my car and watch, I just couldn't used the screen.

The 2nd time I dropped it off my tank while trying to film some training and it got ran over.

The media lies all the time.... so that argument is rubbish.

It a absolutely gets more clicks, it generates negative publicity and spins the media up. Again as I explained earlier this happens every year as people attempt to find fault with Apple and play gotcha.

I rarely see the same level of scrutiny with other companies' devices.
