For those who went 15 P/PM to 17 P/PM, is the increased weight noticeable? Does it bother you?

Wasn’t fond of the weight of the 13 Pro and 14 Pro, but that may be partially due to distribution

It’s the only reservation I have with upgrading.

15PM to 17PM. Don’t notice the weight. Main reason I upgraded was because my 15PM got so hot. This 17PM is already getting hot too which is disappointing with the vapor cooling chamber.

I had no plans to upgrade but Verizon offered to payoff my remaining 15 pro max payments ($443) and offer me $1,100 trade in credit for it towards the 17 Pro Max. Of course this is with 36 months of bill credits but I have zero plans of leaving Verizon.

Phone won’t be here for another week since I just took advantage of this offer today, but looking forward for what is essentially a free upgrade.

Nothing seems worth it and there are no devices that are a step-up from my 15 Pro.

The base iPhones have ProMotion now and the same amount of RAM, but the build quality / aesthetics aren't as good and it lacks a third lens. I still think the older Pros are superior devices to base 17s.

The Air is all aesthetics and that didn't grab me. Too many compromises and pricing this at 999 is a joke. That's the money I paid for my Pro.

The new Pros are extremely powerful, but it's the power I cannot make use of and the aesthetics went out the window.

Any device that is on offer now I consider to be a step down from my device because there is nothing I want, and I would have to pay for it. If I could get the new Pro for free, then maybe, just maybe, I would go for it, but I doubt it as I'd have to compromise on the look and feel of a premium device for power advantages that I won't see. So even if I could get the 17 Pro at no additional cost, I would be hesitant to replace my 15 Pro with it. Giving up my device plus money in exchange for this? No way.

I agree with you wholeheartedly after just returning from the store and trying out all the new devices. To give up my pefectly working 15 Pro any replacement would need to wow me to make me wanna spend the money and go through the pain of switching devices.

The only phone that could possibly convince me to switch in the near future would be the iPhone Fold next year. It's obvious that the Air is one half of the new 2026 flagship iPhone. I assume that on the iPhone Fold they'll move the logic board to the other half and add the other 2 cameras on that camera bump that are currently missing on the half that's the iPhone Air.

The Air is too big for me and even though it feels great to hold I don't see the point of an extra thin phone. I often use my 15 Pro with the very thin new Anker 5k wireless power bank and even then it's not too thick. The single camera is of course a show stopper. The base 17 isn't quite an upgrade from the 15 Pro but the base iPhone 18 or 19 might change that. Unfortunately I got 1TB and use prores and neither is offered on base models.

The 17 Pro with its less durable aluminum and new look isn't interesting to me right now. In 3-4 years when my 15 Pro is slowing down and Apple has had a couple years to refine the new unibody design and perhaps offer some other colors the iPhone 20 Pro might just be the one for me. Or I might get the previous year's iPhone Fold 2 with some carrier deal at a discount.

In any case, my 15 Pro gets the job done and unless it gives me any troubles or slows down I see no reason to replace it.

I'm still on the fence on whether I do a battery replacement at 89% or just get the 17 Pro. I don't get the same excitement for these new phones like I used to, but the new battery life is something that really interests me.
I’m upgrading from my 15 Pro Max 512GB Black Titanium to 17 Pro Max 512GB Silver.

The 15 PM has been an awesome device, so I can fully understand your lack of excitement as the 15 Pro Max was the Pro Max model that brought a lot of what we take from granted now in a Pro iPhone; from fast USB-C, a “Pro” chip with Ray Tracing support, Apple Intelligence (the oldest iPhone to get the update) + Visual Intelligence, 8GB RAM, longer zoom optics, etc…

Honestly you can buy a 15 Pro Max today and feel pretty up to date as the 16 PM did not move the needle really.

Really up to you.

Personally I have enjoyed the 15 PM but I am excited for the new iPhone design, definitely keen for the bigger screen and bigger battery along with the new Camera setup with all sensors now being 48MP and the upgrade to 12GB RAM tells me Apple has a lot in-store for the 17 PM, whenever Apple upgrades RAM on a Pro Phone I know it’s time to upgrade, lol.
I am also beginning to notice some heating up again (something that I used to experience in early iOS 17 versions), though not as much as the early days, I do get the feeling iOS 26 seems to require a bit more out of these chips, so I am keen to see how much more of a difference the Aluminium body + Vapour Chamber will do in 17 PM as both the aluminium and vapour chamber will give the 17 PM a significantly higher thermal ceiling than 15 PM and 16 PM.

It’s more comfortable to use imo. Didn’t notice the weight difference

Didn’t notice the 15 pm slowing down much? But this 17 pm is much faster and smoother. I noticed that. If you don’t try the new you’ll probably be fine.

My 15 Pro Max is great with iOS 26 - faster, smoother, works well. I don't see anything with the 17 Pro Max to have a $43/mo payment for 24 months... The Air interests me but I don't know if I could get by with the reduced battery and cameras.

So... my wife and I are keeping our 15 Pro Maxes till next year. My battery is 101-103%, my wife's battery is 84% - we will probably be getting her a new battery soon.

I noticed the weight difference as soon as I held the 17PM in my hand. It felt a little heavier than the 15PM. After holding it for a few more minutes, I immediately got used to the weight and bigger screen size. I couldn’t be happier that I upgraded.

Nice 👌🏻 and the screens a little longer on the 17 pros as they have the same size as the elongated 16 pros

I ended up going to the 17 Pro. Currently on day 2. Usually by now my 15 Pro would be at about 60% battery. I'm at 86% right now. So far it's great.

sticking with my 15PM natural titanium. I may replace the battery though.
I like the 15PM as it's durable (titanium), and the cameras and screen are still great. and cases are cheap now that its 2 iPhone revisions behind.

I went from 15 Pro to 17 Pro and for me the weight gain was both noticeable and somewhat bothersome but I reckon I can mostly live with it. Going on vacation so I wanted the camera improvements. On our last vacation, I found carrying a dedicated camera around and needing to switch lenses just didn’t work majority of the time.

Mind, the 8x zoom has been pretty useful for reading signs from far away. That’s probably my most frequent use of the telephoto.

My 15 Pro battery life, despite having 87% battery health, is trash. It wasnt great day one and has just got worse and worse. Cannot get through a day without a top up charge.

15Pro to 17base. Love the slight weight reduction .. the jury's still out on IOS 26, but spec-wise it's a solid upgrade in my book. As a security person, I like the new memory security architecture in the 17s, too.

I'm pleased that the 17base has not become an oven or cooktop even once since launch day, and I've definitely been putting it through its paces. So that right there is a huge plus for me!

I've seen charging on hold messages on the 17PM. so, you might have wasted your money upgrading.
Don’t get me wrong. Nothing like the oven that was the 15PM. But it’s not completely cool to the touch like reviews say. It’s fine, just not nonexistent. Other phone was paid off completely and this was $3/month for the upgrade. No brainer.

Weighted my 16 Pro and its 202grams and then new 17 Pro and its 204grams. I can't tell the difference in the hand

Measured the thickness and again its slightly thicker but I can't see it and I'll be honest the rounded edges makes the 17 pro feel thinner - crazy

But I just can't get my head around the minor updates. I'm toying with the idea of returning it, just not feeling it and for someone who has had every single iPhone every year I find it hard to miss this year but its just not got anything going for it

I’m loving my upgrade from the 15PM to the 17PM. My phone isn’t hot like before, I don’t have to charge twice a day, The bigger screen is a nice bonus, and I’m loving iOS 26 so far. My cell signal also seems to be better as well.

I normalized charging my 15 Pro in the car and using an Anker MagSafe puck at work😄. My 17 Pro battery is amazing. Although i think that's simply because it's a fresh battery.
