I’ve got a 15PM at the moment. I want a smaller phone and was waiting for this event before deciding…

Im either going to keep my current device (which seems more likely now) or buy a regular iPhone 17 in black. Im not really losing much other than the camera capabilities that doesn't bother me in the grand scheme of things. The main concern for me is the battery size difference between the two, so I will need to research it a bit more before making a decision.

It’s a shame they’ve not got a black/grey for the pro variants this year…

I'm on the fence atm. Currently at 82% battery health but have normalized charging mid day. It feels like an incremental update, but most really have been in recent years. Based on leaks next year looks like a massive leap forward at least in options; but as with any new massive leap it's usually best to get the "s" version of it. I'll probably make an impulse decision at some point in the next week or so.

For now I am going to hold. I want to see some reviews of mainly the air. i kinda like the bigger screen and I loved bumper cases years ago when I had an IPhone 4s. I am on Verizon with a year left of credits I wonder if they will offer me a trade i could not refuse?? We will see.

I’ve gotten the Pro iPhone since the Pro was introduced because I value the extra camera quality and features (not so much for video). I skipped the 16 Pro because I wasn’t sold on the Camera Control being all that useful compared to my 15 Pro. The iPhone 17 non-Pro is a tempting upgrade for a few reasons:
+ bigger screen, lighter weight, way more battery life
But compared to the 17 Pro, it’s missing:
- 4x/8x zoom, ProRAW/ProRes, LiDAR sensor
No black or space gray for the 17 Pro is a factor given how much of camera plateau is now visible even with a case. $300 price difference for the 512GB models is also significant (that buys a case and AirPods Pro 3).

Seems like a lot of people are very happy with their 15p and 15pm. I'm also on the same boat, I don't see a good reason to upgrade. I think the last thing that made me upgrade my phone was to get a 120hz screen and titanium.

Upgrading from my 15 Pro Max to the 17 Pro Max in Orange. Looks like the camera has indeed improved but would have liked 5x zoom.

I wont upgrade to the 17 Pro although as a Dutchie i like the orange one. I'll wait for the 18 or 19, my 15 Pro Max is working fine, no need to upgrade.

15 Pro here - kind of tempted to upgrade but will probably stick it out another year. I love the titanium and think I might miss it if I upgrade. All covered under AC and have plenty of storage. Think I’ll just treat myself to a new case and be happy.

Yup I'm the same. Am I upgrading? Goodness no. My 512gb 15 pro is perfect. And I'm only on year 2 with it. I plan to try for a decade.

15 pro max user here. I want to get a new phone, but I may wait until the next update cycle... I don't know yet.

For once, if I did get something new, I'm not sure what I'd want.

--> Thinness and one-camera aspect of iPhone Air is appealing.
--> 17 Pro Max offers excellent battery life, but I *hate* the camera bump.

I just dunno yet.

I'm just curious, how can you possibly feel that strongly about the camera "plateau" being 1" wider? Do you use a case? Do you think once you have the phone (hypothetically), it would actually bother you or that you'd even notice?

I only see the practical side of it and moving the antenna there not only allows for better battery life, but seemingly allows for better connectivity. I kind of think it's awesome.

I have a 15 pro… but only with 128gb and I am struggling for almost 2 years with it…
So I am upgrading to get 256… otherwise I would keep it for another year…
My battery is doing ok with 86%… so I‘ll hand it down to my mom whines doing an upgrade from the XR…
I am just struggling if I keep the XR or the 12 pro as an emergency backup phone (I‘ll trade in the other one…)

Gaming. The cameras on the back of the device interfere with ergonomics.

It feels odd to notice the camera lenses when holding the device at various points, especially during intense and fast-paced games.

Many modern controllers also become obsolete if the camera bump ever changes. It is a massive annoyance to update to a new phone just for the camera to prevent you from using said controller.

Laying the device flat against another surface is a struggle for other activities as well, especially musical ones. At times, my wallet needs to be detached for X/Y/Z reason, and I cannot make my device rest flat on a surface—or even angled against another object—because the camera bump interferes.

I have only a hateful relationship with the camera bump. There's no love for it.

Don't you guys think to get the best resale and minimal upgrade difference its better to sell now?
I think that is what has tipped me over the edge. Having paid £700 s/h for the 15P (256), when its owner lusted after the 16PM, I can recoup £510. Then an upgrade to 17P at half-price, spreading the cost at 0% over 24 months.

The extra £509 buys a much better battery performance, slightly bigger screen, 12gb (not 8) RAM and a 4 x telephoto on 48Mpx.

I have a 15PM and upgrading to the 17PM in Orange.

My current battery life is at 87% and it feels like it drains pretty fast throughout the day now.
My launch day 15 Pro Max has been stuck at 86% battery health for a long while now and it drains faster than it use too. I have to charge it twice to make it through the day now. Upgrading to the 17 Pro Max in deep blue.

I play a fast-paced mobile game regularly. Almost all phones have some kind of camera bump now. It sounds like your complaints are viable for bump vs. no bump, but I just don't see it for bump vs. slightly wider bump. I doubt any controller has a specific void for a 1" bump, where the widening to a 2" bump ruins the fit. Am I wrong?

I'll be keeping my 15PM. Battery is at 98% and performance is excellent. I upgraded from a launch day X so the 15PM was a very noticeable upgrade. I figure I can easily get 5 years out of the 15PM and get the same satisfaction when I decide to replace it

I really want to be team long term use but my brain is itching from the resale value perspective. I can upgrade for a minor amount now compared to the full amount I'll pay later.

My 15pro is at 87% and still last me all day so Im going for the Air. As a 1 handed phone user Ive been waiting on lighter and thinner phones so there's no question for me.

That's very true. Keeping my X for just shy of six years ended up costing me about $200 a year (including one battery replacement). I traded it in at Apple when I bought the 15PM and they gave me $185 towards the new phone so I feel pretty good about hanging on to it that long.. My X was a base storage model where as my 15PM is a 512GB version so it will not be as good of a deal long term as the X was but still acceptable to me.
