I only need 1 reason.
The iPad does not support the LTE networks which have been up and running for 2 1/2 years here in Norway. Until Apple fix that I consider the iPad as broken.
Forget it, this site (MR in general and iPad/iPhone forum in particular) is full of sheeple. As soon as one or two of them gets started with flaming and downvoting you, the rest will always follow no matter how awesome your post was.

By the way, you have to ignore the minus-sign in front of any voting result, because here it's the absolute value of the score which determines the awesomeness of your posting such that:

The key reason I'm waiting is LTE; no point buying a new iPad with LTE in the UK if you're a mobile enthusiast like me when it's never going to work here. Once Apple put out a revision with better frequency support I'll most likely snap one up. Meanwhile, I'm still besotted with my iPad 2, so while I'd like the retina display I don't really feel like I'm missing out.
