A word about price:
I am giving Apple back my MBP pro that is a 2016 version. I am getting $995 - no ebay fees, no headaches...done.

That is only 60% depreciation for nearly FOUR years of use. No other electronic on the planet comes close to that.....the Total cost of ownership is WAY less than the list price.

Is that some kind of trade-in program that I'm not aware of or are they doing you a solid because of extensive issues with your laptop?

if it comes with new redesigned keyboard... then i'm upgrading... or else i'm going with Zenbook Pro Duo.

3K cash... your move Apple

Cool to see new tech but this is going to be extremely overpriced. Will be well out of my budget range, but as I always say.. it will sell well.. it's Apple after all. Good luck to all those who order, I hope you get what you want on release day. :)

Am I the only one who doesn't expect a price increase ?? I'm expecting this to replace the 15" at or very close to the same price. Maybe $100-200 extra but no more.

I’m assuming that if Apple does not announce this product, that it will be their last Intel release before transitioning to ARM at WWDC.

A lack of announcement might imply a last final product for professionals who need X86 software.

The transition will take much longer than that, it’s not happening that soon. If anything, the consumer level products will be the first to transition to ARM.

I think Apple have "consicously-uncoupled" there refresh cycle from intel's. So from Apple perspective I think that they view this machine not to be new because of a chipset, but because of all the other features. Probsabyl therer will be3 silent updates whenever next chipset comes out.
I am guessing most people would be aiming to keep it for 4-6 years so having a more update CPU/GPU would be welcome - but the crowd that can afford this will likely go BTO and max this sucker up.

amazing to think these 'new' keyboards have been in circulation, and multiple revisions ultimately resulting in the same concerns there always was, since 2015 introduced with the now discontinued 12" MacBook.

I'm probably the only person who loves the keyboard on the 12" macbook. Mine's been all over the world.

I have admittedly been waiting on this for a while, my 13" 2.6ghz core i5 with integrated graphics, 8gig of ram and 120gig SSD have been waiting to be upgraded for quite a while. I was going to build a new editing workstation (4k video) but I simply travel too much now and must remain mobile. I'll be pulling the trigger at the end of January if:

The Keyboard is fixed
The performance is improved
It has actual ports that people use (I can bend on this)
The battery life remains stellar
I don't have to offer organs to own one
Here in Europe it will cost both arms and legs. It will be like 40K SEK here. Which is insane.

I maxed out my 2012 Mac mini and it’s still going strong after an SSD update last year.

I really like my 2016 nTB's enough too, if it had more travel it would be relatively perfect for me.

Long term durability is a major concern tho, and my AC will be up next month, but I have another year extended support for the keyboard itself.

Still, depending on how much is changed, not sure I wanna HAVE to be swimming in the deep end after a fourth year for something that was previously never a concern durability wise, even though the old style keyboards definitely feel more flimsy . It seems to have crept up relatively quick.

And coming from 2015 12" to 2016 13" was an improvement

The $2799 price tag is going to reflect upgraded standard components such as storage and memory versus the base model that you can configure upward.

I have been thinking about getting a new MBP and have been waiting for the new keyboards. While waiting, I decided to really ask myself if I even need a laptop anymore. I don't think so. I think my next device will be a new iPad with keyboard etc. I can't find things for me that I can't get done on my existing iPad. Apple will keep me as a customer but take less of my money. I'll bet I'm not alone here.
