Apple has a trade in program:

It's BS, they wanted to give me 2100 SEK for early 2015 13" MBP in a very good condition. Insane, try buying one in similar condition and similar spec for 2100 SEK.

My prediction:

Intel i3, integrated graphics, 2 gb RAM, 64 gb storage, all for $3500.

Intel i9, AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100, 128 gb RAM, 4 tb storage, all for $7000.

And nothing in between.

Everything is soldered and glued together. No upgrades and an iFixit repairability score of “get an insurance policy.”

You can get more money by going to sites like SellYourMac

I sell my laptop every year for a new one

I am giving Apple back my MBP pro that is a 2016 version. I am getting $995 - no ebay fees, no headaches...done.
I just checked the Apple trade in program for my country in Europe: my MacBook Pro 13" from 2016 would only net EUR 350 (which equals US$ 385). Either Apple US pays way more than in Europe, or you have an insane configuration on your old MBP.

EDIT: Apple US Trade-In offers US$ 520 for my MBP, Apple Europe only US$ 385. That's frustrating.

We'll see if it's true this time. I held off on my MBP purchase for a couple weeks now based on these rumors. If it's not out soon I'm just going to get a 15" MBP.

I love that the stock image of the 16" is using a Tiger era wallpaper.

amazing to think these 'new' keyboards have been in circulation, and multiple revisions ultimately resulting in the same concerns there always was, since 2015 introduced with the now discontinued 12" MacBook.

I hope these new-new keyboards are rolled out on every new Mac moving forward, assuming they're 'all that' (and have more key travel). Time will tell though if they're worth being jealous of

I think Apple seems to intuitively forget a lot of people inherently like pressing buttons and feeling a click and physically interacting with their electronics to varying degrees.

I sincerely hope you're right. Apple's double-downing on butterfly has me a bit cynical - sure, they don't want them to keep breaking, but more comfortable and more quiet? No sign they got that memo. (Maybe because no one issued a class action suit on making an uncomfortable keyboard?) . Our only hope is that it's physically impossible to make a scissors keyboard with less action than the one from 2015 - although they could always fill it partially with cement to mimic the butterfly feel.

BTW, I fully admit that everyone has a different sample group, but in both my home and my business, about 1/3rd of all butterfly keyboards failed within 2 years, despite all of them being given the extra protection of a silicone cover. I know Apple always has pretended hardware issues are vanishingly rare, but from what I've experienced, it's a question of when not if. (My own keyboard has not yet failed, but I avoid using it most of the time due to noise and pain levels. My rate of typing on it is comparable to an iPad Pro keyboard cover, but I find the keyboard cover much more comfortable.)

Remember NO trade in program is going to give you top dollar. They'd make no money when they turn it around themselves or strip a device down. Those services are positioned as conveniences for someone who doesn't want the hassle of selling devices themselves. The service Apple uses, is a service also used by Costco Warehouse stores. They give you basically gift cards back to the store you traded in your item from. I'm betting the trade in program is a getting a break on that as well.

Would be nice. But i'm expecting ridiculous prices.
5000,- for 32 GB RAM, a decent GPU and 1TB SSD.

Edit: oh wait, we already pay that for a 15 inch.

300 euro is far from what it is actually worth. I'm not dreaming i know that, but 2100 SEK is ridiculous in my case.

I have heard some speculation that there would be no i7 option? Strictly Pro with i9

Is this possible?

If it's $4K USD, that's like $10K CDN! Okay not really, but for that kind of money, I'm not sure a discounted but still very capable 15" is a better buy.
Of course we need to see specs and whether the form factor is drool worthy. ;)

I really wish Apple would go back to those abstract Aqua backgrounds, I'd love to see new interpretations of them in ultra-HD resolution
