How long will the keyboard remain Magical?

The keys still have almost zero travel...so dashed are the hopes of anyone who wanted a keyboard that was pleasant to type on!

I mean, 1mm travel? Translated into American, that is .039"...which is just a tiny bit more than 1/16". It is so little, it may be hard to tell if the key moved when you press it!

Accordingly to Apple Store, the upgrade from 16Gb of ram to 32 gb costs 480€. This is insane... 480€ for 16Gb of ram... are we in the 90s or something?

Yeah, this is the one upgrade that has a serious cost to it now. The other upgrades are more or less decently priced, except the RAM upgrade which now sticks out as the odd one.

For the love of Steve stop complaining.

They keep base specs low to keep the entry price down.

They were never going to get rid of Touch Bar.

It has better heat management.

They fixed the keyboard.

They gave you a physical escape key.

Entry price is reasonable.

This is what you asked for.

Now stop not picking on the singular aspect that you disagree with and be happy.

Looks really good, and i'm so happy about esc-button! Can't wait to try the new keyboard, and if it feels good, i'll buy one next year :)

Wow! Just wow!

Wish it had WiFi 6 so I could keep it for 5 years :)

Wifi 6 and new intel cpu's are probably gonna arrive in the spring/summer 2020 refresh. Intel is set to release new CPU's that could be used in the MBP formfactor in Q1-Q2 2020, so...

Phil Schiller gave an interview with CNET. Here's a snippet regarding the future of the keyboard:

"Can we expect to see the new Magic Keyboard in the rest of the MacBook lineup? Rumors suggest yes, but Schiller isn’t ready to make that announcement. “I can’t say today. We are continuing both keyboard designs,” he said in the interview."

Wow, how over-hyped were all the rumours? There are some cool little tweaks but nothing to warrant all the articles for such a small refresh.

No WiFi 6! Even the latest iPhone has WiFi 6 FFS...

9th Gen Intel CPU's don't have WiFi 6.

This is far from a small refresh. Can't please everyone I guess.

Just ordered

Any word on holiday return policy starting? Usually happens around now. I want to have 6/7 weeks of return period, not 2...

Interesting they went back to the previous keyboard design, and made the Macbook thicker (again) so that they could improve the thermal performance. Just shows how innovative the Apple of yesterday was. What would have been even more amazing would have been if they made this machine modular again. (pop in a 970 evo plus or my own DDR4 ram). But alas, still more bang for the buck with this iteration... good job apple.

I'm in for one. I just need to decide if 32gb is worth the upgrade (I've been living with 8gb for seven years now). upper model with EDU discount is $200 off!

Man I wish they had these in stores today.

Interestingly the note about memory for the 16" says 'not user accessible' but for the existing 13" says 'built into the computer'. I wonder if this is just weird nomenclature or its socketed RAM again?

You mean like the mac mini, where they say that, but you *can*?

probably too much to ask; i don't think those days are coming back for laptops, even if it is a bit thicker.
