Wow, they fixed nearly everything, this is a machine I could actually buy! Finally they are done with that idiotic keyboard! I am no fan of the touchbar but as long as there's a physical escape key this machine is usable. Now all they need to do is bring back magsafe. I guess Jony Ive was the one screwing up all the laptops, they had to can him before they could make them useful again.

This laptop is too big for me but I will definitely be trying it out in the store. I will be anxiously awaiting the new 13" models...

Yes!!! Yes!! Yes!! Yes! Yes! Thank you for finally putting an 8GB GPU in a MacBook Pro.
Just ordered a 2.6,32,2TB,8G GPU..

Returning my 2019 refurb 3 days after getting it and then selling my 2017 15inch MBP. Woohoo!!

Now how long until Bootcamp support happens?

Not surprised at all the way Schiller is spinning the keyboard. This is for pro customers, what pro customers wanted and it’s already in a product they ship etc. I’ll bet it eventually comes to the 13” MBP.

Is the memory self-upgradeable or is it soldered again?

Apple's website says not user accessible but generally everything is user inaccessible in Apple's world because they think users are dumb.
It's really just because glueing is cheaper than screwing and every step of the manufacturing process will have been gone over with a fine tooth comb to save every cent (or fēn) possible.

Total fan-serve. Yet, there's still something for some people to whine about. Classic Apple product launch.

These days there are more people like you complaining about people complaining than there are people actually complaining.

Why do we have to wait for an Intel chipset refresh for WIFI 6.
I thought the wifi card was a separate card ?

Is the RAM on this soldered?
Can the SSD be changed yourself? anyone know what type it is.

The keys still have almost zero travel...so dashed are the hopes of anyone who wanted a keyboard that was pleasant to type on!

I mean, 1mm travel? Translated into American, that is .039"...which is just a tiny bit more than 1/16". It is so little, it may be hard to tell if the key moved when you press it!

How much travel did the old pre-butterfly keyboards have?
I am afraid will never have a decent keyboard on a MacBook again. :(

Nice. I would update my MBP ONLY to get the inverted T arrow keys. It's been 2 years since I got the stupid "plain" layout and I still hate it like the very first day.

He can't say the butterfly keyboard is terrible because they're still selling it. Once they're finally done he'll talk about how it was "a humbling learning experience that made the company better."

To put 1mm into perspectives mechanical switches such as Cherry MX typically has 4mm of total travel distance, and many scissor switch has 2mm.

Take it as you well, but I don’t think 1mm look too terrible for a thin and light focus design.

I think we'll see a bigger separation between the MacBook and MacBook Pro lines in the future.
The MacBook and Air's are probably gonna keep the butterfly keyboards, and focus on slimness, etc.
While the MacBook Pro's will become slightly thicker with a better keyboard, better battery, and better thermals.

The past (2016-2019) MacBook Pro's was kind of in nomansland. Apple tried to make the Pro line slim and light and thermally constrained, which wasn't a big success.

What makes you think it won't support bootcamp out of the gate? Every mac since 2007 has had bootcamp assistant right there for you, ready to go.

there is more to it than just manufacturing costs, its for the security and encryption. Having a closed system with the T2 chip adds a huge security advantage. The disadvantage is you cant upgrade.

How powerful is that AMD Radeon Pro 5500M? And will it -for instance- drive modern day VR headsets with 90Hz+ refresh rate?
