So serious question here - if I right now buy a 2019 MBP does it come with Catalina on it, or does it come with Mojave and I need to update it. I'm thinking about buying but not if I'm stucj with Catalina. The software I use does not support it yet.

The 16" will all have Catalina. A 13" or 15" and it will depend how long ago it was manufactured.

Navi GPU would be the only other thing I would say is essential and not gravy, if they exist..

Agree - I just sort of assume that anything they release at this point will be a massive upgrade for anyone coming from a 2015 (or earlier) they've been holding onto due to the keyboard situation.

wa.

i want both. i need both. (for camera closed, touch ID scenario)

Not really cost effective for both Apple and the consumer. Also remember for the FaceID to operate it has to go to the T2 chip which is quite far from the sensors, so would increase the price too. However, it would be a great feature.

Yea check stores for new, old stock for a model with Mojave, there should be still some floating round.

Oh and if you get $300 off it would pay for Applecare for 3 years so you could get the keyboard replaced or in three years trade in the Macbook Pro with Apple and put that money into a new Macbook Pro model. It is a win, win. :)

So this kind of thing - resellers giving a few hundred discount doens't really happen in Europe as far as I know. Also for reasons of EU warranty I woudl only buy direct from Apple. If you buy from reseller, the EU mandated warranty is on the seller not the manufacturer - so better to buy direct from manufacturere to save having to chase a reseller sot hat they will chase Apple.

Well you can always downgrade to Mojave.

I want 16", 4tb, face id, touch id, 802.11ax.

Please.

If it’s the Coffee Lake H series it’s going to be AC Wi-Fi I expect. Hopefully 3x3 though, I don’t imagine they’d do 2x2 unless it’s a budget model.

Says could be faked, but that doesn’t make sense. Couldn’t Mac rumors or anyone simply verify of the file(s) actually exist in the betas? Or did someone say they exist and macrumors didn’t want to find out they don’t so instead just published before verifying for ad clicks?
It’s confirmed... others found the files in the beta too. It looks like a placeholder for the real thing

All Pro models (except for non TB & budget 2019) are 3x3 and have been since 2011, the new 16” would not be a budget model

There will always be new computer every 6 months to a year. So if you need a computer now buy it, use it and trade it in for a new model. If you can afford to wait, that is why it is good to watch Macrumors Buyers Guide to get an idea when is the right time to buy a model. It has never steered me wrong when getting a new computer.

When i worked in the old mom and pop computer stores back 35 years ago, i remember a customer that would come in every fall looking for a new computer. You would talk to him about the latest model and he would say. I read about a new 286, or 386 or 486 processor coming out. I am going to wait. 10 year later, i saw him and asked him. What computer did you final buy? He had not bought one but he heard of a new computer coming out LOL. 10 years and he did not buy a computer. :)

Still the image Apple uses for these icons. Its never changed.
Yeah this was my point, I don’t know how people haven’t seen the stock icons with the Tiger wallpaper before. They’ve been around forever

No they're not. The 13" nTB (2016-2018) and the 13" 1.4GHz (2019-) are 2x2.
Sorry I did mean to say the original Touch Bar only, and now only “non budget” models. I remember checking through all the tear downs with each release

Boy do I hope there's more to this update than just that. It's not that the current industrial design is not good, it's that at this point in its life it's just so boring. (Same with the rounded-sides on the iPhones. ;)

I am glad to see Apple paying more attention to the Mac line again. bringing back a real tower computer. Not forgetting the Mac Mini, coming out with high end computer displays. Coming out with a iMac pro model. A mac for all budgets and needs. And just think the original mac 128k in today's dollars would be $6000 and people bought them with out question. :)

It certainly would be easier to keep track of if Apple had clear documentation on their website!

if it has FaceID then I will order it straight away :)

Really? Hmmm, I don't know, doesn't really seem as important as on a portable device, especially a smart phone that you pic up and put down often. I feel like most people would use a computer for longer periods of time steady. Seems like a big investment if you have a fairly new macbook but I'm also cheap. :p
