I'm wondering if they'll launch with anything better/faster than a Vega 20 with 4GB? Here's hoping something happens in the next 36 hours from Apple.

Private briefings happening this week!

Yup!

These are the kind of rumors that fuel anticipation.

Let's see what happens this week. If the MBP does not release alongside the Mac Pro then those of you who have been confidently saying 2020 (as if you got the news direct from Apple) can finally claim victory!

Yep! All I want is 64Gb of ram! I am running a 2017 with 16GB, and I am always maxed out. Photoshop Eats ram, and working with 300+ MP images half the time it just gives up.

Before I sold my 2018 15" MBP I was running 32GB of ram and almost maxing out!

I run almost two dozen programs at launch. I have to use BARTENDER to reduce the clutter on my menu bar.

So, yeah, 64GB would be the bees knees!

Apple will trick you into buying a 2019 machine by offering a minimal discount (10% off)....then 1 month later they announce the machine you actually wanted.

You give Apple too much credit Lol. They’re probably not doing any discounts smh. Maybe an Apple Store gift card.

Lol. Why?
It’s not like the brand new product is going to be on a Black Friday sale discount or anything..

Lol seriously? People will be out shopping all day. It‘s a great opportunity to sell products, ESPECIALLY something new. Nothing to do with a discount considering Apple products sell regardless.

People will pass Apple in the mall or a shopping center and be inclined to pop in.

The bit that got me a little concerned here is that expectations are for a higher price, and everybody seems to be OK with that. What ever happened to the usual tech trend of either a better machine for the same price or the same performance for less price. If I was an Apple marketing guy reading these forums I'd be inclined to jack up the price simply because nobody seems to really mind...

there's nothing new in this article.

I don't think we should have ever asked for the physical escape key, and I think that was just shorthand for asking for them to remove the touchbar and bring back the entire function row including ESC jey, so I hope they didn't misunderstand that.

I agree, the Macbook Pro 16in is their business computer. It is not the mass market product like a iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV or air pods. They do not need a hugh mass of units ready for Thankgiving, black friday and cyber monday. If the computer is like $3500 to start they will sell a lot but not to the Black Friday, i want a no name cheap laptop that is $500 from Walmart.

It is also good if you using a lower volume unit, if you are changing a keyboard or add other new technology to your lineup.

many sources said 2020 for new MacBooks, these rumours always get it wrong, no way they would release it without a event and the next event would be march time
According to 9to5mac, press briefings for the 16" MBP are being held this week so reveal should happen this week or next

Oh my! I don’t understand the need to replace your macs so soon!, I have an MacBook Pro 2012 with upgraded ram to 16 gb, runs photoshop, after effects and iMovie just fine!

am I missing something m?

I'm happy to clarify :) Two situations where I really feel the need for more performance is Sketch — I'm a UI designer and I have files with dozens of artboards — and Motion. Of course the current MacBook Pros would solve the problem because they are powerful enough, but I don't like the butterfly keyboard and the lack of a physical ESC.

a 2015 is still a great machine, what are You talking???

I love my MacBook Pro :) It's just starting to show its age in the situations I mentioned above

Right around the Black Friday.. I will try my maximum to resist to not buy the current 15".

Godammit this 16" rumours are driving me nuts.. Saw the base 15" 2019 for 2300 Euros the only day and decided not to pull the trigger due the crappy gpu

We know this is coming eventually and the current 15" models have crappy GPUs.. The only way to get a Vega 20 is by buying the i9 version...

Plus the butterfly keyboard and all?

I really wish they'd release this in the next week or two. I just can't pull the trigger on the 2019 15".

I know right? Saw it the other day for 2300. But I can't get myself to buy a laptop with a 555x at the end of 2019

I would have loved to upgrade my 2013 MBP RAM and kept it longer, but the RAM was soldered in and became a major bottleneck.

Best laptop I’ve ever owned.

I think everyone has their own unique reason.

The new ones are considerably faster than the 2012 model. Have you seen the benchmarks? Even the 2019 model is nearly twice as fast as the 2018 one. People who upgrade aren't using iMovie. Likely video professionals and such, where productivity is extremely obvious. The difference between my 2013 iMac and my 2019 one is night and day. The 2013 one can't even play youtube anymore, it just goes to sleep after 10 seconds. Sadly.

"it just goes to sleep after 10 seconds "

Happens to me after a big lunch.

yes you are. You are not heavy user. Good for you. At work I have 64gb Ram, 20core cpu and Maya is still not smooth or even stable.
:)
It all really depends on the usage.

My 2009 Mac Pro finally died, so i need a replacement. Was thinking about the new Mac Pro and at $6500 it is worth every penny. But it would sit a home not being used a majority of the day so I decided to get a Macbook Pro 16 at $3500 and trade it in every 5 years to keep up with the technology changes. At half the price of the Mac Pro tower it should do the job over the 5 years.
