Given that 802.11ax will probably show up in the next release, and hopefully all the first gen issues will be ironed out, the next release of this should be a solid machine.
Missing Wi-Fi 6 (which would have been available from Intel) and still using a 720p Facetime camera is disappointing.
Also my longstanding criticism of lack of 120Hz and VRR.
720p in 2019 is disgusting and totally unacceptable.
Yes!The arrow keys look horrible.
That is what I waiting for too!its 0.5mm between
Wifi 6 for the 16" we will not get until late 2020 or 2021...for those who wants wifi6, wait for the 14" that will have the 10th gen Intel
I don't personally care about the webcam, the only small 'miss' for me is not bringing back SD card slot, and that was always a very long shot... mind you, so was increasing the value of this machine compared to the one it replaces so drastically!I am stunned by how much Apple has nailed my wishlist for this new 16" MBP:
The icing on the cake for me is they have more flexible and reasonable BTO options that were unavailable on the 15", such as being able to keep the base processor while upgrading the GPU for a reasonable $100, or $200 to upgrade the GPU and get to 8GB of GDDR6.
- Fast Navi-based GPU in the standard configuration - check.
- 512GB SSD in base configuration - check.
- Better thermals and bigger battery - check.
- Same price as previous base configuration (with benefit of larger, slightly higher res screen, better speakers, double the storage, faster RAM, much faster GPU) - check, check check!
I was previously looking at a configuration of $3,050 (or maybe it was $3,150, I don't recall) to get the fastest GPU. I can now get an even faster GPU for $2500 (or $2600 if I splurge for 8GB RAM), which is a huge increase in value.
The webcam was high on my list of hoped-for improvements, and it is disappointing to see no improvements their, but the other improvements and the effective price decrease more than make up for it in my book.
I don't see why the arrow keys needed to be changed; what's wrong with the 2016 arrow key layout? Were people actually complaining about that?
the 16-inch MacBook Pro is not included in Apple's repair program for Macs with butterfly keyboards. Hopefully this means Apple is confident the keyboard is truly more reliable. We'll update this list if we spot any other tidbits worth mentioning. Let us know if you spot any others in the comments section.
It's not about the size, it's about them being (arguably) easier to find without looking.I don't see why the arrow keys needed to be changed; what's wrong with the 2016 arrow key layout? Were people actually complaining about that?
What do you want them to do, invade Intel? No 10nm.....sigh.
The 2019s did.Well, no. Show me a device that started with a repair program...
