Anybody out there still defending the butterfly keyboard: you were wrong. Apology accepted.

Missing Wi-Fi 6 (which would have been available from Intel) and still using a 720p Facetime camera is disappointing.
Wifi6 is more than 30 percent improvement. I got over 100 percent increase in throughput when I switched to a Wifi6 router and installed the Intel Ax200. Even a Wifi6 router to a Wifi5 Client saw increased speeds (50%). It's strange that Apple put Wifi6 in the iPhone but not in the more expensive macintosh.Ah yes the FaceTime camera, I missed that in the specs. I agree it should really be 1080p, I use the FaceTime camera quite a bit for work and having family overseas.
My issue with AX is it's the future standard (you can already buy routers and devices today with it) and people tend to hold onto their MacBooks for longer than their iPhone. AX is a really impressive standard and once we get fully fleshed out and stable routers/firmware it will make a big difference - not so much in terms of speed but in dense WiFi environments.
- Improved beamforming especially with 8 antenna routers
- 1024 OFDMA
- 2.4GHz band finally seeing some love
- Actually working MU-MIMO
- Lots of little improvements with guard intervals, carrier avoidance, timing etc
802.11ax is a really solid update that will make real world WiFi much better. Couldn't care less about the speed increases which are maybe 30% at best (although the 2.4GHz should get a noticeable uplift).

There was already plenty to differentiate the two. Screen size, core count, graphics. The superseded Butterfly keyboard and larger bezels are only going to cause apprehension among 13" MacBook Pro buyers who may not be in the market for a 16" anyway (due to cost or preference for the smaller screen size).Who knew a keyboard would be so difficult. Most people were okay with pre-2016 MBP keyboards.
I'm also not so sure Apple will unveil a 14" model. Not because they can't, but because they want to further differentiate the two different sizes.
You can see inside on Apple's website, everything is still soldered down I'm afraid.I wonder if RAM is soldered. I guess no, because the product pages reads:
Note: MacBook Pro memory is not user accessible. If you think you may need more memory in the future, consider upgrading at the time of purchase.
While the 13'' models has a different note:
Please note that the memory is built into the computer. If you think you’ll need additional memory, it’s important to upgrade at the time of purchase.
Let's wait for iFixit, maybe it will be possible to upgrade the RAM by opening the laptop, not easy but at least possible. Would be really nice, even for the SSD
I don't know how that fact is "fun."Fun fact (source MKBHD) the battery is 100 watts, the max you can carry on a plane through TSA
Why? Are you worried it might cause problems if you remove the SSD?Anyone worried about the inclusion of the T2 Security Chip?

Yes, it's soldered.16GB of 2666MHz DDR4 onboard memory
Configurable to 32GB or 64GB of memory
I can't believe someone took the time to ask whether RAM was soldered to a 2019 MacBook Pro.You can see inside on Apple's website, everything is still soldered down I'm afraid.
Yes. Since there is a lengthy topic on this forum and i heard nothing about it from Apple.Anyone worried about the inclusion of the T2 Security Chip?
Shocked they kept the headphone jack!
but I'm going to wait and see how the keyboard is. Quite a lot of people will jump on this, but I imagine a fair few, having been bitten by Apple's keyboards before, will give it a wide berth until the second revision.
720p in 2019 is disgusting and totally unacceptable.
It's the same cost and more value (i.e., the size of the SSD, new keyboard, larger screen).Today's my last day to return the 15" I bought. I didn't want to wait for the 16" since the price was expected to be significantly higher. Is it worth the exchange or should I just hang on to the 15"?
So people who have used the butterfly keyboards for months/years with 0 issues are supposed to apologize...to you? I think I'll pass on that.Anybody out there still defending the butterfly keyboard: you were wrong. Apology accepted.

Unfortunately, the rep mixed up the dates and I actually missed the return window. Oh well, no biggie. It's the same cost and more value (i.e., the size of the SSD, new keyboard, larger screen).
I'd think returning your 15 inch would be a no-brainer.
Here are some other things to know about the new 16-inch MacBook Pro:In addition to a scissor mechanism keyboard with a physical Esc key, another much-requested feature that Apple has reintroduced is an inverse-T arrow key layout, last used on the 15-inch MacBook Pro in 2015.
