Do you guys really feel Apple will release the 16" Macbook in Sept, because just some days back when Apple refreshed the 15" and 13" rMbp most of the Tech Gurus said that now we will not see any new Macs this year !

Just go 4k in 16:10 alrdy Apple.
All I want is 1920x1200 points of space with a native @2x scaling.
It's totally doable on the 15" alrdy... just a shame that the scaling is not native. And before anyone says anything... yes you can see the non-linear scaling... and I really dislike it.

This one million times: it is not a true retina display in my eyes if the only practical resolutions are non integers scales. 1680 x 1050 does not look good on a 2560 x 1600 display and 1280 x 800 is simply unusable. The displays need to be 3360 x 2100 and 3840 x 2400. The pixel per inch count may be good enough with the current resolutions but a large amount of the benefit is immediately lost as the display is forced to display resolutions in an inherently blurry sub par way

I just spent £4000 on the new 2019 one arghhhh what do I do return it and wait

it seems you dont understand the scaling system of the macOS Catalina. So no, no blurry image

If they announce September when would be likely release? Oct? from announcement? Or later?

I’m in a position where I may be able to get a refund on my 2019 top spec 15” wondering if there is anyway I could hold off to see if this rumour is true. Still some months away though and I’m not sure my iPad Pro would get me through till then. The 2019 has performed better than the 2018, may have to end up keeping it. Could always resell if 16 is spectacularly different.

I feel the same

LCD is lower cost. Time to get a bidding war going between suppliers. Pass the savings on to the lowly user who has been beaten up by high Apple prices.

I suspect this will be the MacBook of the next decade, where they see the design going. Rounded corners on the display seems certain and hopefully some further improvements to the butterfly keyboard. I am hoping for 6 USB-c ports and maybe a CFExpress for the pro photography market, however the pro cameras are getting USB-c now so there is less need and a multi CFExpress card reader will come out sooner than later so we can import 2+ cards at the same time.

Umm, they all run Catalina right? Ahh, cant buy... need to grab a 2015 MacBook Pro if my current one dies for whatever reason. I need High Sierra.
I would love to see how this MacBook’s port configuration goes. Still 4 USB-C ports? Or we can finally expect something more? HDMI? SD slot? One can always hope.

This would mean no OLED and no 4K in 2019! That’s not very good IMO considering the cost Apple will no doubt charge..in fact it’s a pretty poor joke.
The base line iMac has 4K right?

I can see it now....

“And the new 16” MacBook Pro comes with our exclusive new updated butterfly keyboard, look at that isn’t it just gorgeous?, look how thin it is... and it will be eligible from day one for the repair programme of our butterfly keyboards...”
who wants to bet when this thing comes out(if it does) it has the exact same keyboard as the 2019's.

Why not?

The kept the MBA when it was made obsolete by the rMB and the are still keeping the rMB despite it being made obsolete by the rMBA....

So if and when the 16" will be released it will be the 1st step to clean up the whole Macbook line and I suspect the endgoal will be something like:

14 and 16" MacBookPro (really priced out of consumer reach like the MacPro or the iMacPro)
12 and 14" consumer laptop marketed as either MacBook or MacBookAir

Might take till 2020 or even 2021 till the lineup is at that state.

releasing a new macbook pro after they updated the 2019 pros in may wont sit too well with people.

It's not unprecedented.

They released the "iMac with iSight" models in October 2005, then followed up with the first Intel iMac in January 2006. Virtually identical, except for being much faster.

Only you and a dozen other people want them. The rest of us (millions) really, really don’t. This will sell like hot cakes without them.
“Millions”? Ok, in a specific country. Got it.
I just have my first ever USB-C device in my life: iPad Pro 11”.
Wait, Wut? No OLED?

At least I thought, Guess that rumor didn’t pan out. :(
What about $800 min price increase? Plus, OLED would work terribly in a desktop setting when UI elements are mostly fixed. Wait, oh yeah, they have software to slow down burn-in. Now would Apple use a different way to drive OLED rather than PWM?
Disappointed there’s no OLED, unless this can do true HDR with some of the local dimming tech their new pro display has.
Look no further than that $7000 monitor (without stand). The price will be ugly.

spec wise i dont see what else they can put in this thats better than the just released 2019's besides an updated screen and faster graphics than the vega 20.
This would be an entirely new machine. Little different than just updated speed models like we just got.

I don't get why Apple won't revive the 17" Macbook Pro instead. Even though this is probably their best Macbook yet, from a marketing stand point, it'll just seem too similar to the 15".
Based on the resolution, if the ppi is 220, it would be approx 16.5”. Maybe the 15” would be discontinued at that point, if this is mainly a slightly larger display/smaller bezels type of update.

But (just speculating) I suppose it’s possible Apple will keep the 13/15” machines and make the 16” basically a MacBook Pro Pro. So maybe in addition to the larger display, there would be additional upscale differentiating features, such as a larger battery (so somewhat thicker as a result), a more powerful dGPU, 128GB max RAM, FaceID, etc. Maybe (as long as I’m in speculation mode) even a mobile engineering workstation, so Xeon mobile/ECC RAM... who knows.

I really hope this comes true!

As a visual artist, this would be fantastic - more screen real estate and bigger canvas (when they discontinued the 17" a couple of gens ago, never thought they'd head back in that direction).

I've been holding out on a late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina, but badly need to upgrade as this Mac has an NVIDIA card, and apple and NVIDIA are not playing nice, so I'm stuck on High Sierra as Mojave doesn't support NVIDIA at all. And even on High Sierra, the cards performance in Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve and Maya are terrible.

I couldn't get myself to get the current MacBook Pro generations as a couple of my colleagues have them and they all had keyboard issues at some point in the last few years - which fair to say is absolutely disgraceful.

Two things I hope in this upcoming machine:

1. Please don't have rounded corners (the current iPad Pros do, and I'm staying on the 1st Gen 12.9" iPad Pro because of square corners) it doesn't make sense to have rounded corners as a creative pro, because you want to maximize any image you're working on, why lose that arch on each corner when pixels could be there. It makes absolutely no sense from a functional point of view. I get that it visually fits the physical hardware curve, but it really doesn't 'feel' right. Maybe it's an OCD thing.

2. I hope they give us the option of NOT including a TouchBar. I get why some people would like it. But again when working on creative stuff, the visual cues should just come from one place and not two. But it would be awesome to customize it without a touch bar.

3. I hope they don't include "MacBook Pro" printed on the screen bezel at the bottom center of the screen. The previous gen MacBook pros 2012-2015 just had a black bezel and they were awesome.

4. Finally and most importantly I hope it really a new keyboard design.

Crossing fingers.

EDIT: @otternonsense mentioning MagSafe too. Yes please!

It’s very disappointing that they swapped Samsung’s incredible OLED display with LG’s boring LCD display.
I never liked LG’s LCD panels they always lack vibrancy and there is something about them that makes them look boring and stale.

Can see Apple trying to differentiate from the rest of the laptop market by going 14'' and 16'' for the Pro Machines. Introduce the 16'' first and then the 14'' in the early part of next year. As for specs, not too much different from the current line-up speed wise so as not to alienate existing 2019 owners.
