It's wasn't exactly Apple's intention to "bury" them. It's just system files that's utilized by the UI. The real question is why would Apple leave these icons and pictures that hints at the MBP16 in both the beta and public releases of Catalina. Surely they know someone is going to find them. My thinking it that, contrary to your claim, as undignified as it may seem, Apple is intentionally leaving traces of the MBP16 in there to hype up the rumors.

This happens every year though... There are always references in betas to unreleased hardware. Happened with the HomePod, iPhone X and other products.

How you know Apple really F'd up:

"Bring back smaller trackpad"
"Bring back magsafe"
"Bring back SD card slot"
"Bring back HDMI"
"Bring back scissor keyboard"
"Bring back function keys"

There wouldn't be anything of the new models left.

Can you imagine the exact same 2015 Macbook Pro form factor with the newest 4/6/8 core processors and thinner bezels?

I don't think this 16" model will have a radical design outside. If you look at a Magic Keyboard from the top (not at an angle) it looks similar to the current laptop keyboards, so that photo makes some sense. They could still borrow the look but have a completely different scissor mechanism underneath. It looks like the Touchbar will separate out the Power Button/Touch ID on one side, and the ESC key on the other. They will probably use the same chassis as the current 15" (same size, weight, and ports), but just have slimmer bezels to squeeze in the larger display.

If this is going to be more expensive than the current 15" (as rumored), then it will have to have improved performance due to newer/faster processor/memory/storage in it.

This would tie in perfectly with the release of the Mac Pro (which was already shown off at WWDC), and if geared more towards a "Pro" user, then it could be announced anytime with just a press release before the Fall season ends (when the Mac Pro was promised.)

Bigger screen yes!!!!, Better Keyboard yes!!!!!, Faster Intel processor with WIFI 6 yes!!!!!!, larger storage cheaper price yes!!!!!!! a keyboard power button yes!!!!! Maybe a 64gb ram model will still get a 32gb. That is enough for me with a EGPU box and a great external graphics card I should be good for 6 years. And upgrade to a new video card in 3 years. So there is a lot more.

I was never a fan of the Touch Bar, so I've stuck with my late 2013 15" MBP. If they give me a separate escape key and decent key switches, I'll probably upgrade, despite losing the extra ports. Not gonna be thrilled about it, but after 6 years this thing is starting to show its age. Also, it's about time the display got a resolution upgrade after 6 years.

Give me a 2TB SSD option that doesn't break the bank and I'll be very happy.

Oh come on the exact same thing happened in 2016 with the new gen MBP. macOS X.X.1 is released, a day after that the image is found and a couple of days after that the new machine comes out. Similarities? Anyone?

Great find, I forgot all about that one. I hope it comes true, but I somehow can't see it happening. Back in 2016 they actually had an event as well when they announced it...

Most likely some keyboard changes coming. Took a moment to compare the current 13-inch image to the new 16-inch leak. Assuming the 16-inch's Touch Bar is the same thickness, I found some interesting comparisons. These changes move the keyboard dimensions closer to that of the Magic Keyboard.

Is a hackbook worth it?

I’ve been thinking about it, but not sure if there’s too many workarounds to deal with.
Honestly, if the keyboard on MBP 2017 wasn't what it was, I wouldn't have bothered. But as things were, I ended up with same specs, saved €700, spent three days getting everything to work, replaced the SSD + network card (yup, you get to replace parts) and ended up with the most stable macOS laptop I've ever had. Still, I keep waiting for the 2020 MBP, because the Lenovo trackpad is apparently very good for a Windows machine. If this is "very good", then I am definitely willing to spend that extra €700 to have an Apple trackpad... and the Lenovo keyboard.

I am so tired of all the Macbook rumors...

Do we have to wait another 4 years for Apple to remove the touchbar, (same as it happened with the worse keyboard ever designed...)????

I wonder why the only revenue number Apple missed was Mac SALES!!!

Do you recommend a YouTube video or site that guides you on how to do it?

MMMM look at that sexy space increase between keys. Hope the arrow keys get the same love, or more.

Go to the Apple store and try it.

Really, I owned the 2017 and 2018 MBP so I have something to compare it to. The 2019 Butterly keyboard is much better in comparison.
I went from the 2016 MBP keyboard to the 2019 MBP, the change was really nice imo. More travel would be better, but still felt pretty good.

Hopefully the 16-inch model can have a better graphics card. The current Vega 20 is still weaker than GTX 980M from 2014.
Going by the 96W power adapter leaks it sounds like they might have eked out a little more thermal/ power headroom from the design - I'd say graphics is up there as the most likely beneficiary, though I wouldn't be expecting miracles tbh.

Oh god it's got the touch bar. Keep it from me, keep it away!

I think I probably won't mind the touchbar (and maybe even like it) as long as there's a physical ESC key. The separate power button is also nice, as it's a system-critical component. If it fails, it should be able to be replaced much more cheaply, without needing to replace the entire touchbar.

Nice work. Also interesting that the keyboard seems to be quite a bit further away from the display. Smaller trackpad?
