And I thought the new design looked like *****. Then I saw one in person. They're kind of amazing.

I looked at the photos of all the new macbookpro design and they are butt ugly. Then I went to the Apple store to actually physically look at them and they are all FUGLY.

I am waiting for a 4 core or 8 core mbp so I can use my mxo2 and capture pro res HQ straight from my hpx170. Other than that there is no reason to replace my silver beauty.

Love it or hate it, it looks a little like this, dontcha think?

...I'm just saying.

Actually...no...

and I think you should maybe think about an appointment with an ophtalmologist. :D

Hope the next iteration will get past the ugly black chicklets and the even uglier black bezel...

I like the new MBP unibody styles more than the older one. Looking at the 15" and 17" makes me wish I waited to buy my mbp. Oh well, I still love my mbp either way. I can always look forward to an upgrade. I also hope the 8 hour batteries make their way into the 15" if at all possible due to size.

I'd give anything to have been in on the design meetings for the new gen macbooks. The whole line is so ugly and cheap looking they defy description.
Just south of four grand for that crap Chiclet keyboard?

See, pretend the monitor is attached to the keyboard and wallah!

It's actually "voilà!". Literally "see there"; in French it can mean simply "there it is"; in English it is generally restricted to a triumphant revelation.

Wallah: a person who is associated with a particular work or who performs a specific duty or service —usually used in combination <the book wallah was an itinerant peddler — George Orwell>

I think the people who prefer the old design are just scared of change, after using the 15" Unibody for a few weeks the old design looks so dated and frankly...old! The new unibody feels much more sturdy too. Those photos just posted clearly dont show the 17" unibody in its best light but thats because the guy who took the photos is clearly no professional photographer.

Let the sea of complaining begin to rise. Gosh, the internet has made it so easy to be vocally unsatisfied. For the record, I think it's beautiful and well-featured.

Wow, you're actually being positive? The Onion can help: http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd4tugPM83c

:D

IMVHO, the new MacBooks/Pro's are not as pretty as the previous generation, but they're not horrifically ugly like some people are saying.

THIS is ugly:

Any idea whether or not the RAM is easily upgradable on your own? I'm not interested in spending $1,200 on an extra 4GB of RAM thru Apple but would like to know if it's my only viable option before purchasing.

I know the 15" is upgradable with a little doing but it also had a removable battery which helped you get to the RAM....

Note this is 1066 DDR3. Their price is unusually close to market price.

There's a disturbing lack of pics of actual 17" Unibody MBPs in here.

It's not a freaking computer museum thread!

I wanna see matte displays.
I wanna see vendor IDs.
I wanna see GPU clocks.
I wanna see colour gamut, viewing angles, battery life, goddamn it I tell you!!
;)

If I had mine I would give you that, unfortunately Apple hates me.

I'm happy for those who ordered and wanted it. However, those of us who don't like the new design will have to go elsewhere for our next laptop upgrade. Maybe once I see one in person I'll change my mind, though! I'll keep an eye out for them.

So form is that much important than function? You rather use Windows because of the looks of the machine?

I have to agree with the first post, but I know many of you on here would buy a piece of poo in a box if apple put their name on it.

It's not the name - it's the real world experience of OS X. I smell a troll. OS X is everything Linux aspires to be.

...I'm just saying.

It really does. However, the MBPs look sleeker due to the aluminium, even from far away.

I like the matte version of the 17" MBP better due to the silver bezel. I'm trying to like the black bezel on the 17", but I can't. Of all the new designs, I think the 13" MacBook is the best looking, and the 17" MBP is the ugliest due to the black keyboard and the large amount of aluminium surrounding it.

Cool. I love how the bezel around the edge is thinner than on the MacBook/iMac/24" LED Display.
