Yes. Google it. I did a few months ago. I think you export a CSV from 1P and import it into Passwords
Thats how it's done.. My biggest issue is that I now have data in three islands.

Credit Cards in Apple Wallet
Passwords in Apple Passwords
Other info like passports, SS cards, important docs and images stored in either Apple Notes or another app. (Uplock works well)

"Here's a new entry.. where does it go?"

Not the path I want to take, juggling three different apps/locations.

Bitwarden is also raising their prices.

If the Passwords app would acquire the ability to keep items besides passwords, such as credit card information, scans of documents (passports, etc.), notes, I would abandon Bitwarden and go with the Passwords app.
At least BitWarden has a free version.

I am OK with the price increase if it means the app/safari plugin improve. It's been a cycle of a few steps forward and then a few steps back...I suspect this next year or two will define the direction many people take. Will Passwords.app get better or will it remain barebones, will 1PW justify the price increase or is it merely a money grab, etc etc...
I find the 1P app itself to be pretty good and fast. The Safari plug-in though is really flaky, slow to load, and keeps offering passwords and input in places that aren't relevant. BTW I can't believe people are getting so bent out of shape by an incredibly tiny price increase. WTF? Is $1 a month really a thing?

Nobody likes price hikes! Yikes!

I recall I made the comparison between 1Password subs/year cost like 1 kg quality Espresso beans, when they went subscription. So mow they cost like 300-400 gram more, ok.

When Apple’s Password have evolved a bit more and can import, I may ditch 1P.
But for now I stay, out of convenience - it’s worth it to me.
1Password is so much more than passwords on all devises - all secure notes too.
What do you mean? You already can do imports in Apple Passwords. For secure notes, you can have that same functionality in the Notes app - encrypted and all.

I'll +1 for ProtonPass. It's a super alternative. Two of the advantages it has for me over the Apple offering are: 1) eggs/ baskets, 2) easier to add other information/ files/ notes/ share with others. An advantage it has over the 1Password option (that Apple also has) is simple integration with alias email addresses - that's worth its weight in gold.

Ok, I still pass. I like 1Password better then the alternative, for now.

I rather pass Timmy's and Apple's ways to get money of their users at the moment, they are way worse.
Just wait, Apple will come up with more subscriptions soon.

All Apple need to do is have the ability to store attachments in the passwords so secure docs can go in there. If everyone puts in a feature request, maybe we'll get it https://www.apple.com/feedback/passwords/

Been using 1Password for a number of years. Great app in my opinion. As well as passwords, with relevant 2-Factor support, I use it to store passkeys, secure notes, credit card and passport details, together with scans of passports and so on - basically anything that I need to keep secure while I travel. For light users who only manage passwords, something like Apple Passwords is likely fine but having a 1-stop shop is worth it for me.

I use eWallet. It’s cross platform and is pay-once and use forever. No subs. €10 for the iOS app and €23 for the Mac app.

Syncs great. Over cloud or local WiFi if you prefer. Works on Windows and Android as well if you need that.
The devs have been making software for almost 30 years. I first used it on Windows Mobile back in 2006.

I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I also use Apple Passwords/keychain but there are many other things like Passport info, ID cards, bank account details, software licences, drivers. Licence etc that Apple Passwords cannot store.

That’s where eWallet comes in.

1Password is one of my most used apps for years, using the Family subscription, shared vaults etc, so in general I am happy to pay for it. However, this price increase, while the quality of the apps get worse, feels not justified by anything.

Unfortunately I am using mostly all the USP features, like tags, so I guess I'll just throw money at it for now and buy me another year of time. But I will definitely use the time to evaluate other solutions or hope that Apple keeps improving their Passwords app.

I still have my subscription as back up but have moved everything over to Apple passwords as I found 1Password a bit glitchy with saving and filling passwords sometimes..

Plus the safari extension was a bit buggy

Is 1Password meant to be much safer than Apple passwords?

Quite a steep hike. For me, the Apple Passwords app is more than enough and have no intention of subscribing to 1Password.

That is my feeling too. While I try to use free Apple apps as much as I possibly can there are some paid apps that just make things easier for me and my family. 1Password currently does that. The annual cost is not any concern to me. The value proposition makes sense.

I noted some comments in this thread about using Apple Passwords, Apple Wallet and Apple Notes in combination to try and achieve the same features now available in 1PW. Why would I do that to save an additional $1 a month?

If Apple improves Passwords to include the functionality of many 1PW features I will consider switching.
But note that Apple is putting many apps inside subscriptions. Apps like Pixelmator Pro where put inside Creator Suite. Used to be a standalone lifetime license. Yes the old version is sill in the App Store for now but will not get the same features as the subscription model.

Many businesses today see subscriptions as the way to maximize profit and will continue to move their products that way.

Bottom line: for me 1PW offers all the functionality that I need in a convenient package for a reasonalbe cost. You may feel different and act accordingly.

I think most people don't realise that if their iPhone is stolen, and the thieves manage to get past the phone PIN or to reset the iCloud password, then all the information in Apple Passwords is accessible. Every password, to every site.

No thanks. Until Apple provide a good way to lock down their Passwords app, and for the average customer to have a way of saying "no password resets ever!", I will keep using something else to manage privileged information.

I moved to Secrets years ago. One-time fee, a responsive developer, and just works.

1Password has good tech but a terrible marketing team that treats users like idiots.

I live and die by 1Password (and now get it free for a family at work) but my parents are Apple Passwords users. And although I can't ever see myself leaving the 1Password ecosystem, but I think this is going to push a lot of folks to Apple Passwords and Bit Warden.
The free Family subscription for work users is a great bonus. I've paid for it, since I switched from LastPass and the last 18 months the Family subscription switched to free as we adopted it at work.

The biggest things for me are that I get the family covered and can share passwords with them. I also have Proton Pass (in Ultimate) subscription, but because I use the family safes, I won't be swapping any time soon. Proton Pass also has a free tier, so possibly worth looking at for people looking to jump ship, I'd probably put it on a level with the free tier of BitWarden. Certainly both are good choices, if you are using multiple platforms.

As others have said, to me the elephant in the room is that the quality of 1Password noticeably dropped when it switched to Electron. And it never fully recovered. That’s what makes price rises sting: not wishing the offering could be better, but knowing that it once was.

I have been with them since day one and have not found anything better, especially since I use multiple operating systems, so I am staying on board despite the price change. For me, 1Password is like the Dropbox of password managers and handles everything I store there quite well. 🤷‍♂️
Bitwarden, free and open source
