You're safe to run the update.. I just did w/ my jailbroken/unlocked 1st Gen and its still working fine.

Yeah?

Does that mean that you didn't have to re-unlock your iphone?
If thats the case (and if I hear other people saying this as well), then I'm gong to jump in and update mine too.

I think the contact delay which is small is due to it checking with push server that alot of us are apart of. Kind of like when you open mail app it check to make sure it didnt miss any mail.

Ps. Down the road they might find a better way to fix that delay.

this is 100% true. I had no contacts lag until setting up MobileMe (push)

Does this really fix the contacts/sms lag issue? I know everyone says the lag has now gone, but IIRC it always went after a hard reset/restore, but then crept back. So is it just the restore that's temporarily fixing the lag?

Guess I'll have to find out!

Well, it's fixed the SMS keyboard lag and contact lag for me, but Locate Me in Maps is still broken, and has been since 2.0. This is on a 2G, so I don't expect much in the way of accuracy, but I would still like it to work!

Anybody else having the same problem?

My 2G Locate Me worked in version 2.0 for a while then stopped. Tried many times over many days, at home, but it would not work. Then I tried it somewhere else and it worked straight away, and has worked ever since, even at home.

Could a bug cause it to get stuck when it 'finds out' you are where it last thought you where? Doesn't seem implausible...

Upgrading to 2.0.1 now...

No 3G Receiption now....

Now after the update I am getting no 3G receiption what so ever whereas previously I was getting 4-5 bars. What gives?

Arrrggh!

My backup got halfway before saying 'Could not backup because..iPhone was disconnected' -- didn't touch the damned thing.

Try again.

i really dont know that itunes is really stupid

u can check urs app

Completed the update. One thing I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned in this thread is that iTunes no longer displays my phone number.

For a while, it's been displaying as N/A, but after this update, it doesn't even have a place for it, it just shows Name, Capacity, Software Version, and Serial Number. Interesting.

Anyway, here's hoping it's more stable. :)

Just upgrade my original iPhone from 2.0 to 2.0.1 on my work machine. Took no time at all and didn't wipe any files / music etc.

I haven't experienced any of the problems people are mentioning, but what you've described sounds a lot like a memory leak. Basically, something is allocating memory to perform a task and not releasing it afterward, over time this will build, making things slower. So after a reset or a simple switch on/off, the memory would be free'd, and for a short time everything will appear normal.

On an iphone 3G after the update:

-Contacts lag gone
-SMS lag gone
-Safari a lot snappier
-Locate me is not working

Will report on battery life...

Anyone else having problems with location on a 3G handset????

Mine is still there and none of the summary data has changed (except the version number is now 2.0.1).

i got a question, i got the old iPhone, and it got push ON(is this possible, or is the option just there, but its actually not on?), whenever i try to send myself an email it pushes it to my phone directly, but this morning i had no emails, and right now i got a beep outta my phone saying i had 4 new mails, and all of them were before noon(its 7:15 PM right now)

will this be fixed in an update? or should i make a new thread?

Don't know if this has been suggested... but I've seen my mail app do this. It may freeze and not try to download even if you ask it to. Your best bet is 1 to restart your iPhone or 2 even easier would be to open the mail app and hold the HOME button until it forces the app to close and then open up the mail app again.

2.0.1 has not addressed BMW iDrive to iPhone BT issues.

What kind of issues? I have ZERO BT issues with my iPhone 2G w/ 2.0 and my '07 335i's BT. Everything works as it should. If you are having a problem could be the s/w version of Progman (Nav s/w).

Report your iPhone not working right to your dealer and see if they'll update the Progman s/w for you. It really depends on the dealer how much a PITA they want to be about this, but BMW does advertise the iPhone being 100% compat with iDrive so sounds like the warranty should cover this.

Did the update. Had no issues in terms of lag and things like that on mine prior to it, things do seem snappier anyhow now. :)

Sorry but there's still a 1second delay between tapping a contact's name and it registering.

Anyone else agree?

It was worse before but it's still not up to 1.1.4 standards.

I upgraded my non jailbroken 3G phone.

SMS lag gone
Contacts lag gone
NetShare still there and working :)

Nah, mine's not worked since 2.0, and I've tried in locations all over the UK.

There's widespread compatibility issues with BT as explained/complained baout on numerous threads here, E60 forums and on the Apple discussion forums. These affect many different brands/models/years/configurations of car but mostly consist of 2G 1.1.4 software having been OK and any flavour of iPhone with 2.0 software not OK. You seem to be one if the lucky ones.

My particular issue is it pairs OK but the connection drops and re-establishes every 20 seconds or so and the phone book won't synch, so I’ve just switched Bluetooth off.
