Without greed factor the majority of buisnesses you see today wouldn't be here.
True but Apple has claimed since the start they were different. I guess by that they meant product upgrades will come out every few months and won't be free.

While apple, most of the time, puts out a generally superior product (especially zune vs ipod), they are without doubt, as greedy as "M$" if not more.

Just look at how much they up the price on Mac Components, compared to buying them off newegg or something (since its all the same hardware nowadays)

I have a question, since part of the update is to allow access to the app store wouldn't it make sense to "credit" the update in software? I mean doesn't it sound a little odd to ask customers to pay for the right to buy additional products? If they charge $20 and then allow you to download $20 worth of software from the store (your choice not some canned set of apps) it might make this a little more palatable.

In the end it's our choice, if you don't like the price vote with your dollar and don't buy the update. For me, once the price is announced I will decide if what they are offering is worth the cost.

Well?

Hey guys. Im a pretty new Ipod touch user. And im just wondering. How do I get this new update?

It's supposed to be released on July 11 (along with the new iPhone). At that point you'll most likely be able to download it through the iTunes Store, and once you do, the Apps store should become available to you.

Well, I don't mean to sound negative, but I already paid those idiots at Apple $400 for my 16GB Touch, $20 for the January Software upgrade, and now they want me to give them ANOTHER $10 to get something iPhone users, who paid as much as I did, if not less, get for free? I'm really close to jailbreaking mine.

The last time I checked, you're not forking over $10/month to Apple as a part of your monthly cell bill unless you own an iPhone. Don't worry, they're paying too. Just not in the same way. If you don't want to pay, simply don't buy it.

Who is the real idiot? The person(s) who come up with great technology and get people to pay tons of money for it or the people who pay the tons of money? Or, even better, the people who pay only to complain about paying.

Please, for the love of god, jailbreak and save the rest of us from hearing how awful it all is.

Questions re 2.0

FWIW....in the big scheme of things, don't think that $9.95 is a lot to pay for the update or whatever it is...assuming that there's a few goodies of value in it... ;)

Meanwhile, does anyone know what I'd need to do to update/upgrade my iPod Touch 16GB that is now jailbroke at 1.1.2??

Would I need to restore my Touch first back to factory state before doing upgrade at iTunes store??

Thanks.
